This game needs more variety.

So I think the main problem that this game faces is the lack of variety. There’s variety in the weapons. There’s a variety in the classes and soap classes but the one thing that doesn’t have much variety is the actual activities and gameplay. With the activities that have the most difference in it being the lawless frontier in that barely has any variance in it other than what kind of mission it is. The reason why this seems to be the overall goal in almost every single thing that’s come out is damage output, damage output determines how fast you can get things done and how fast you can kill things, therefore damage output is the most important aspect of this game. That is the fundamental problem. Should there still be a use of enemies and such in these activities? Yes, but the primary objective should not be achievable from just killing a boss or killing waves of ads with overwhelming fire power just to get to the other side. You tried to do this with edge of fate. And honestly, you could’ve done better. Now this rant is primarily for PVE but there should be instances in the game, where any kind of build is necessary because right now all people are caring about is damage as if it is the only thing that’ll ever matter in an encounter. You really want something that will turn this game upside down put something threatening in front of us that we can’t -blam!- kill and we can only run from or fend off once certain conditions are met, make an entire community event style expansion, where people have to go in and discover stuff, have it we configure itself weekly with a bit of randomness to it and have something big and spooky chasing us along with a bunch of other tinier things that we can kill. Take notes from survival horror, games like alien isolation, Outlast or even even amnesia. It can’t be Meme horror, it has to be ACTUAL horror. One thing that comes to mind is something similar to a tormentor or an ogre that is just juiced up on the nightfall energy. Heck make an animal that’s representative of this anti-paracausal energy. And have it be a manifestation of that. Not gonna lie something like the hound of Baskerville mixed with a horror plot would work really well here. Especially if it is first seen, just eating a hive guardian.

  • Gambit, Blind Well, Altar of Sorrows, Dares of Eternity, 5 different PvP miss, 11 different locations, Lost Sectors ... the list goes on. D2 HAD variety. Bungle wanted a mobilelike portal and EoF so here we are.

    • Whenever Bungie tries for variety, people complain.

    • Eof brought variety, but not the horror. The expansion would have been better without the variety. You are right about the enemies. Making a neon reskin is not interesting. Making a bigger version and giving them a name does not make it new. Core issue with this game for a decade.

    • I would like some more horror aspect in this game, and formidable adversaries for sure, however, I think exploration is not Bungie's forte I am playing the edge of fate campaign, and while it started out as fun, I am beginning to preceive it as tedious, and annoying the more I progress There is a difference between making a game, and gaming the player, other game makers have done it better My confidence in them is not very high, and they should be very cautious in what they present Player number decline is beginning to be noticably felt in game, and not many people want to do the harder difficulties, and the more experienced players, have zero tolerance for error That has been my experience
