Why is it that u have to pay to play?
I understand they have to make their money but seriously if u don't spend the money u can't get most exotics or even level up the guardian ranks without paying for the season pass or etc. that's stupid cuz not everyone is made of money and can fork out $100's of dollars on a game when we have families to support or take care of but yet we can't get the exotics others do or level our guardian ranks.

They can make money by just having players doing nothing in patrol. It stacks their actual numbers

Marketing Destiny 2 as free to play is quite misleading in my opinion, especially since it didn’t start that way, and no major expansion or season has ever been free. Destiny 2 is free to try, sure, but you don’t get to try much. First Descendant is free to play. It may take a long time to unlock things paying players have, but I still have access to them within reasonable means. Good luck on your D2 adventure.

Not sure if it is still this way but I got a lot of random exotic drops just playing the game.. you can also get them at the tower at Monument to Lost Light and I imagine you may have access to exotic missions? I would seriously review some youtubers that go into detail about whats totally available as FTP. Without youtubers tell me wtf is going on with this game.. I would have never stayed. As everyone mentioned guardian ranks is totally a nothing burger.. its one of the recent meaningless hamster wheel releases.. like commendations..etc. Means nothing. There is a lot of replay-ability if you can figure out how to hang in PVP with legendary weapons.. that is what kept me in D2. All the weapon drops are ultimately to test in PVP. Unfortunately, Bungie needs to setup a balanced place for all to play.. so the crucible is a mess at times and is truly bad right now. Its up to you and your reasons for why to stay and where to have fun.. there are free places people enjoy. All the playlists.. patrol zones.. lost sectors..etc. I would NOT under any circumstances say that this game is worth any dollars at this point. If I had joined at this point I'm certain I wouldn't have stayed. I joined FTP when past DLCs were able to be played like RED WAR.. (around season of undying).. lot of cool free stuff was delivered back then.. My advice is to create your own list of what you want to chase that's available.. and find out if the game provides and changes for the better somehow. -

Destiny is more free to try than free to play and that's already bad enough. Just wish they'd drop the F2P altogether. It's done nothing but hurt the game.

Because the product cost money to make. Hundreds of people have full time jobs making and maintaining destiny. It takes millions a year to keep the machine running.

4 RepliesJust play the parts that you can afford to purchase (some of the game is free). You really don’t need to worry about earning every exotic, or guardian ranks. You could also wait for content to go on sale.

Edited by Salty-47: 8/29/2024 6:38:43 AMWell, to start off with, guardian ranks are useless and don't really matter in any form after you do the first few, so that's not really anything to pay for. The season pass exotic can still be earned from the pass without buying once you reach a certain rank. I'm pretty sure the seasonal exotic mission is available in the rotator playlist next season, and I haven't seen anything requiring the season it's from to have been purchased so you can still earn it for free you just have to wait. So that only leaves the paid dlc raid and the dungeon exotics, so you're locked out of, as of this year of content, 3 exotics. 2 of which can have the dungeon key bought for a lot less than $100, and the other 1 can also be bought without buying the $100 version of the dlc, so right there disproves your whole argument that you have to pay the $100 and your locked out of earning the exotics due to that. Also, if your referring to armor as well in your post then what I explained basically still applies just with the added armor pieces being tied to the dlc purchase and not the episode purchase
