How did you lose me? Yeah yeah, churn happens. Burnout happens. It’s no big deal. I’m a drop in the bucket, I appreciate that. But do you want to know? Do you want to understand what the breaking point was for me, a person who cheerfully pre-paid for multiple expansions? Who loves ARPGs in general, and loves FPS-ARPG hybrids in specific? Well, read on. I’m old. Older than most (but not all) of the other posters on this, or any relevant forum. My reflexes aren’t what they used to be 30 years ago. But … my reflexes were great 30 years ago, and they’re still at least “average” by today’s standards. I’ve got a kid in college. She graduates this year. That’s fine and all, she’s more important. But it does mean that dad’s toys (meaning my gaming computer) hasn’t seen an upgrade anytime recently, and probably won’t for at least another year or so. I loved Witch Queen. Did I emphasize that sufficiently? I LOVED Witch Queen. I played it constantly. Of all the seasons I’ve played, S17 (Season of the Haunted) was probably my favorite. But frankly, all of them were pretty good. And then … you released Lightfall. You added Battleye in 2021, and every season since the introduction of Battleye, my performance has declined. Little by little it’s gotten worse for me. and by S20, the performance loss was distinctly noticeable. I’m far from an expert, maybe it could be better optimized, maybe it couldn’t, but I do know that looking at a slide show [i]even when I’m playing a solo lost sector[/i] is distinctly not enjoyable. Yeah, as I mentioned, my hardware isn’t that new, but every OTHER game I play still seems to run fine, so … I’m skeptical that it’s me, even with my aging hardware. And then, on top of all that, you decided that the game needed to be harder (as of Lightfall). I didn’t ask for that. I didn’t WANT that. Functionally, you shut me out of game-play that was accessible [i]by even an old guy like me[/i] during Witch Queen, yet is now no longer accessible during Lightfall. I paid MORE for Lightfall, but got a LOT less game. I’ve got plenty of disposable income. I can afford the hobbies I enjoy. And during Witch Queen, Destiny 2 was one of the hobbies I enjoyed most of all. But your lack of attention to optimization, and your attempts to appeal to the steamers (who wanted a higher base level of difficulty), That’s where you lost me. I [i]pre-ordered[/i] Beyond Light and Witch Queen AND Lightfall, but as things stand now, I doubt I’m even going to bother with The Final Shape. You made the game un-fun for me. You let me down. I’m just a single data point. Take my opinion for what you will, but ah … I’ma go spend my recreational dollars somewhere else, ya’dig?
