Bungie Bans without giving reason?!

I'm posting this as a disgruntled customer who has spent time and money on this game. I know some of the readers might not care as it has not happened to them, but I'd like you to put yourselves in my shoes, or people like me to whom this has happened. I started playing Destiny 2 in July this year. After I saw that I quite enjoyed the game, I purchased the forsaken and shadowkeep DLC around 2 weeks ago. I am a PVE player (mostly Solo) and rarely play PVP crucible for the obvious reasons as a new player, only to do quests, bounties as needed. Today I logged in to play my usual solo PVE game, just to see the "Not so fast!" message from bungie, stating that my account has been permanently banned! That’s it! No further explanation, no email, no notification, nothing! Just the sentence “you are banned”. Now for those players who do use cheats or hacks, I guess they won't be as shocked, since they already KNOW why they have been banned. But for people like me who have not, imagine the shock and frustration of not knowing why your account has been banned! When you know you haven't done anything wrong! and worst of all, no explanation?! They leave you in the dark! Oh god bless them they do say in the ban message to go to www.bungie.net/ban for further information, guess what you might have done wrong from our big list, and how to appeal for your ban. I find it disrespectful that you the "customer" have to look around to see why the "provider" took your money and then decided to stop providing you with the service you paid for, instead of them informing you in details, which is the most basic form of customer relations. OK. I checked the ban appeal section. In this section, two things that they highlighted astonished me even more of their lack of respect towards their customers: 1- "Requests for additional information, such as the length of a restriction or reason for a ban, will be disregarded." How messed up is that!! You as a customer cannot ask them WHY they banned you and ask them for information or a reason?! WOW! 2- "There are no guarantees that a ban or suspension will be overturned, nor that the email will be responded to." Lol! So basically, it can mean even when you do appeal, if they don't feel like reading it or going through it, or have actually no proof or anything, they can just ignore it and STILL you won't know why you have been banned! This has to be the most messed up customer service I have ever heard. Who would have thought a big company like bungie would have one of the worst customer services, or should I say NO customer service! You can't even chat with their support team if you have a problem, or in this case, which is the worst-case scenario, all your game time and money down the drain, without any explanation or proof of any kind! I hope someone from Bungie reads this and answers my queries. - Why was my account banned when I have not used a cheat or mod or whatever! - If they say I have, provide me with proof! - As a PVE player why would I use cheats?! And that is only after 2 weeks of purchasing the DLCs?! - I suggest you review your customer service experience and satisfaction policy, that is some dark age stuff going on in there. I don’t think that is even allowed legally to stop a prepaid service without giving details and reasons.

  • Hey there! The #Help forums are not able to assist with appeals of restrictions or bans. However, there is a process in place for you to appeal your ban or restriction. If you have sent an appeal, that is all you are able to do at this point. Please review the Contact Form: Appeal Ban or Restriction article found here. Please note that, as mentioned in the article, there is no guarantee for a response, nor is there a guarantee that your ban or restriction will be overturned. For more information on Bungie's policy regarding bans and restrictions, please review the policy here.

    • The only real outcome of verifying ban circumstances is to give information to cheaters about how to cheat more effectively in the future and/or allows them to pass that information along to other cheaters. I personally would be nervous to play on PC on the off chance that I might inadvertently do something "wrong." But that's the risk you take being on PC.

    • Happened to me also man. This is messed up. I got banned even though I wasn't cheating. I had a mod tool open for a different game before switching to d2. Thing is I didn't even get passed the character login screen when the game crashed. Then when I tried logging back in boom got hit with a account ban even though I didn't so anything to mod the d2 game itself. currently still waiting to see bungie sees my appeal to undo my ban. I wasn't trying to cheat in d2. My game history / skill is average at best. I've spent alot of time and money on this game, and being banned for a unknown reason sucks. I'm only guessing this is why I got I got banned, unsure if this is even the reason why. Not knowing why or the status of appeal literally is killing me on the inside. It was a mistake and I get that, even for having the mod tool on my pc that's not for destiny but a offline single player game is bannable offense sucks and messed up. I already removed the tool from my pc but I guess it's too late. It's messed up though that people who didn't actually cheat get banned, yet real cheaters are all over YouTube running free and come back days later. To finish I get it I broke the TOS but being banned for having a tool that's for another game and not hurting or even modified the d2 game itself is messed up. My steam hours are low also because I primarily play on xbox in total I have over 3000 hours played in d2

      • being on pc, it's usually due to sketchy software. many many have said the same as you, i'm a pve player, why would i use cheats, but it does happen. although sometimes it's through ignorance. even if you run a cheat, macro, aimbot, trainer or anything like it for another game, if it's left open when you launch destiny and it's detected, you'll get banned.
