The 8 Principles; Chapter 7: Acquaintances

Current Theme: Sea Winds and Travelers Allo and Domund made their way into the center of the kingdom. Domund’s speed walking had allowed the two to reach the halfway mark in less than an hour, but they still had a long way to go in order to reach the Gate. Allo decided to take a seat on a nearby bench. Domund stopped and looked at him in confusion. Allo: “Sit down, Dommie. There’s no point in going to the market if we’re exhausted by then. Besides, it’s not like we’re in a rush.” Domund hesitated, but eventually took a seat next to Allo. Both of them looked around the town that surrounded them. The streets were comprised of polished stone that reflected colorful lights coming from lamps that hung from the porches of houses. The houses themselves were made of metal and bore wires and pipes that were barely concealed behind the metal plating. However, the technological dens of Paradisum did not prevent nature from thriving. Just as houses and buildings surrounded the civilians, trees and flowers of various shapes, sizes and colors surrounded the entire town. Every plant was from a different realm, but the architecture originated in Paradisum. In the horizon were mountains that pierced the sky and held a vast amount of wildlife and minerals, along with a vast ocean beyond them that was barely in sight. Allo: “Sure is a beauty, isn’t it? I’m lucky I was born here.” Domund remained silent and breathed in the atmosphere. He had not been to the central town that often. The last time he did, there weren’t as many plants and the ones that were there were not fully developed. Allo: “If you do become king one day, Dommie, I hope that you’ll do all you can to preserve the beauty and diversity of the kingdom.” Domund turned towards Allo. Just as he was about to respond, Allo saw two familiar figures. Allo: “Well, fancy meeting you here!” Domund looked at the figures that Allo was talking to. They were two women. One looked like an adult while the other seemed like a child under 13. The mature one wore leather clothing and a hat with a wide brim. The child wore large robes that barely seemed to fit her and had eyes of wonder staring at Domund. Allo spoke to the adult woman. Allo: “Nice to see you again, Poma. It’s been a while.” Poma: “Likewise, Professor.” Allo: “There’s no need to call me Professor anymore. You’ve moved on from my class and learned all there is to learn from me.” Poma: “Still, it feels right. I’ve known you for so long and I’ve only called you Professor for the entire time.” Allo: “I suppose you’re right. Say, who’s this little one right next to you?” Poma: “Oh, this is my little sister. Her name is—“ Una: “I’m Una. It’s nice to meet you, mister.” The child walked up to Allo and shook his hand with both of her own. Her voice was high pitched, but she spoke in a tone that radiated maturity. Allo: “Well, aren’t you polite? My name is Allo, and this is Domund.” Both of the girls looked at Domund. Una’s expression maintained its wonder, but Poma looked shocked. Poma: “Wait, you mean Prince Domund?” Allo: “The very same.” Una: “It’s nice to meet you, too, your highness.” Una shook Domund’s hand the same way she shook Allo’s. Domund looked down at the small child. She wasn’t even half as tall as he was. Poma: “Sooooo, what’s the prince doing all the way out here?” Allo: “We were going to the Gate to explore the I.M.. We stopped here to take a quick break.” Poma: “That’s a coincidence. We’re going there too.” Allo: “Really? What for?” Poma: “An old family member runs a shop there. We usually pay him a visit when we get permission to use the Gate. Ballore said she would be there, too.” Allo: “Is that so? Well, why don’t we travel together?” Poma: “You sure? We wouldn’t want to get in the way of some royal business.” Allo: “Nonsense, you’re no burden at all. Right, Domund?” Domund was caught off guard by the question. He looks at the other 3 people while maintaining an awkward silence. After a while, he quickly nods his head up and down. Allo: “Then it’s settled. Come on, it shouldn’t be that far.” Allo led the way out of the city on the path to the Gate with Domund. Poma hesitated in following, but Una was more than eager to join them and began walking ahead. Poma: “Stay close to me, Una.” Poma and Una lagged behind Allo and Domund. The 4 of them all traveled onwards to the Gate to get to the Interdimensional Market.
Fades Away
