The 8 Principles; Chapter 5: Permission

Current Theme: Kwolok’s Throne Room Allo met with King Dezi in his throne room. The light from the sun shone through the stained glass, turning the room yellow and signaling that it was morning. After hearing Domund’s request the other day, Allo thought about how to fulfill it. There were many realms to take him and many that were unique and interesting. First, though, he had to get Dezi’s permission. There was a large gate on the edge of the kingdom that served as an entrance to a multitude of realms. In order to enter and exit Paradisum from that gate, one had to receive permission from either the king or someone else of high power in the kingdom. Allo had figured out where he had wanted to take Domund. It was a place that he was familiar with. But in order to take Domund anywhere, he had to ask the king. Dezi: “You want what?!” Allo: “Please calm down, my king. I know that this is my second day as an instructor here, but I assure you that my request isn’t as far fetched as you might think.” Dezi: “‘Far fetched’ is an understatement! I won’t allow you to take my son to that cesspool!” Allo: “Cesspool? With all due respect, you’re overreacting. I’ve been there multiple times and it is a very peaceful place.” Dezi: “Peaceful? That area is filled with ruffians and thieves! The last time I’ve been there, I nearly vomited at the several, unspeakable acts that I witnessed!” Allo: “Your concern is understandable, but I assure you, it is nothing like it once was. The people in charge have made extreme changes to ensure that those who wander in the area are safe and free to do their business.” Dezi: “I doubt that it would completely stop the dangerous delinquents from causing trouble. For the last time, I will not allow you to take my son to the ‘Interdimensional Market’.” Allo sighed with frustration. He knew convincing the king would be hard, but now he felt that it was impossible. At that moment, Domund had entered the room and approached his father. Dezi: “What is it, Domund? I’m busy having a conversation with your instructor right now.” Domund: “Father, please allow me to go with Allo. I have to!” Dezi: “‘Have to’? For what reason must you travel to such a horrible place with a man you just met yesterday?” Domund: “Surely you of all people would understand. If I am to be king, not only am I supposed to know about other cultures and lifestyles from other realms, but I must know how to deal with experiences that would be considered dangerous.” Dezi: “I understand that, but why must it be at the Market? That place is far too dangerous for you.” Domund: “And how long has it been since you were there? How many times have you experienced such atrocities of which you speak in that specific area?” Dezi: “I...” Dezi paused for a long moment. Domund quickly glanced at Allo as he did the same. They both realized that the king only had only been to the I.M. once a long time ago. Dezi: “I don’t want to lose you, son. Your mother wouldn’t want to lose you either. I’m doing this because I care about you.” Domund: “Sorry, father, but the information I received about that realm comes from someone with far more experience than you. It is a place of diversity and intrigue, just like Paradisum, and it is a great opportunity to learn about things other than the facts and laws that I have been surrounded by since I was a child. So please, father, if you really do care about me, then let me have my own experiences. Let me grow to my full potential.” Dezi was shocked at Domund’s sudden shift in personality. Normally, Domund would not question his father’s wishes at all and remain silent. Now, however, he had completely spoken his mind and revealed his emotions. Dezi: “... very well. I will allow you both to travel to the I.M., but only for a limited amount of time. I don’t want you two to get into any sort of trouble whatsoever. Believe me when I say I’ll know. When you are done, I want both of you to immediately come back to the castle and tell me exactly what you saw and ‘learned’.” Am I clear?” Domund and Allo both nodded in agreement to the king. Dezi: “Then leave the room at once. I shall give you my permission slip for you to show to the gatekeepers soon.” Allo and Domund headed to the exit of the yellow throne room. Domund was the first one to exit. Before Allo could exit, Dezi spoke once more. Dezi: “And Allo?” Allo: “Yes, your majesty?” Dezi: “Since you were so insistent on taking my son, I want you to promise me something.” Allo: “And what might that be?” Dezi: “Protect him. Even if it costs you your life, protect him from any sort of entity that may threaten his safety. Promise me.” Allo: “...I promise.” Dezi: “Good. You may leave.”
Fades Away
