They told us exactly what they are going to do just not when it’s gonna happen. They will have a light level cap/ceiling that they cannot be infused beyond. Expect it to happen with all current gear and new gear coming out over the rest of Y3. When Y4 drops, it will raise light but everything will be left behind. You will grind for the exact same weapons with the exact same rolls (depending on the meta shift) but they will have slightly different skins. It’s just another way to artificially prolong play time by creating more grind the same way they did with armor 2.0 and grinding for the same armor again cause now you need 2.0 versions. The same way they did with exotic weapons in D1 when you had to grind for them all over again in Y2 and get a Y2 version because the Y1 versions were capped at I think 160 light. And then again in D2 because they keep bringing back exotics we already grinded for in D1, twice in some cases, but here we are grinding for them again. And then, every once in a while, they will release a new version of an old favorite (recycled content) but you can’t just use the one you already grinded out, no you have to go get it again “see, we brought back your favorite gun that we took away! Doesn’t that make you happy!” - not only do they have a history of doing this, but they straight up said they are going to do this in the directors cut!
