PC stuttering in all screens (loading, tower, game world) every 15 seconds

I was running borderless windowed for video settings for the past couple months so I could go over to Destiny Item Manager and Braytech regularly without minimizing. I noticed some choppy framerates in Crucible, so tried going back to regular fullscreen, but now I get freezes every 15 seconds on the dot for 1-2 seconds. Even going back to borderless. This is in the tower, and loading screens. Sound continues as normal. Any ideas what I did wrong? I've tried vsync on/off, capping 75 FPS, 38FPS, windowed regular, etc. Every setting and resetting to default still has the issue. I've rebooted multiple times and updated my driver - GeForce GTX 1070 running v 441.87 1/5/2020. Any idea what I can do to further troubleshoot this issue? The game is currently unplayable.

  • This issue eventually went away not too long after this post. I finally went back to taking the frame rate cap and v-sync off. Unfortunately this has popped up again starting on Wednesday this week. I don't recall it happening on Tuesday after reset. The main difference however is that the time period to the 1-2 second pause is almost exactly every 2 minutes this time. I've updated my driver again, now running 445.75 3/23/20 rev. I scanned files in Steam with no errors, and also as a precaution reinstalled the game completely. Something was left over as my key binds and graphics settings were not changed after loading up the game after the reinstall. Anyone else experiencing issues like this again after being resolved for many months?

  • Nothing you can do yet. Wait for Tuesday, bungie has stated that they know its an issue. Tommorow they will be issuing an overall perfomance update, hopefully fixing these Fps drops and stutters.

    • No need to post anything up for feline. As Gold stated, Bungie is aware of the issue and working on a fix. Good luck. :)
