Bungie, please add my name to the long list of players who want nothing to do with pvp. It ruins the game for people like me when the only options are pvp or abandon the quest-line. Give us another option, please. I know most of your development team cares about their work and wants to see the community enjoy and appreciate it. You have the metrics and know full well that a significant portion of your player base rarely to never engages in pvp. I'd wager the gambit numbers dropped off when people figured out it was mostly about killing the other team's guardians. I honestly don't expect you to alter the quest-line at this point. But, moving forward, when developing pve content you can avoid excluding pve-only player like myself.
I encourage other players who feel the same to make a post and ask Bungie to not force pvp on us. (A simple one-liner would be enough.)
To everyone who enjoys pvp, thank you for supporting Destiny 2. I love this game and enjoy playing it. I don't think it would be profitable without the pvp players.
Edit: I appreciate all the constructive comments. Some of the comments show a misunderstanding of my message. This post is not about pvp. It's not about changing pvp. It's not about power grinds or weapon grinds. It's not about changing the game. It's about how the game is changing. This is the first story-line I've encounter that progressed through multiple pve quest steps with heavy plot elements and then jarringly deviates into pvp. I don't want to see this become a reoccurring plot device.
If you do not want to follow story content from pve to pvp (or vice-versa), then I suggest you make a post stating what you think. Post here, post on Reddit, tweet about it, anywhere your message will be seen by others. You don't have to say much and you can lock your post if you don't want comments. People typically have trouble understanding a perspective that is not their own. By sharing yours they are presented with the opportunity to see something new.
I was encouraged to make this post after reading Kareem Shuman's tweets about the Saint-14 helmet dialog. He shows that some Bungie designers/developers are in touch with the players. They want Destiny 2 to be fun and enjoyable.

Edited by JohnnyDanger: 1/20/2020 10:16:14 AMPVP SNEAK ? There are those who thrive at playing pvp, and for those its truly wonderful that there is a option to enjoy not only various facets to the game to carry out this activity but to actually have in connected to a quest line to give it meaning in a way , instead of it feeling like just a sport. Unfortunately I am not a skilled pvp player nor do I find the rivalry exhilarating. I have given each pvp type a chance to see if there is even a remote chance that I may change my view towards it. Alas I have not and Gambit was somewhat fun up to the point a true PVPer pops in and wipes the floor with me . I find it deceptive to lure a person like myself into quest line this lengthy only to what I find feels like a wall of failure . 25 kills most likely will be 150 matches before I get it done. Be mindful while doing something I abhor. Since I play regularly and enjoy the pve aspect of this game immensely I would only ask that a insignia be put on the quest maker so that it is apparent that pvp is required. Thusly my time won't be wasted. THANK YOU BUNGIE

Oh, no! You bought a game with PvP and PvE game modes, and the game wants you to be well-rounded and not waste your money by essentially ignoring half the game? What a shame!

Edited by an Ape with a d2 addiction: 12/27/2019 11:34:16 AMCompletely agreed. I'm a pvp-only sorta player. Pvp quest steps should not be in pve quests and vice versa. Having the option to choose between either for a step would be ideal but definetly not the current model that forces out of context activities to folks who don't care for them at all and won't touch them after slugging through the mandatory parts either. It's either lazy design or a failed and counterproductive attempt at introducing folks into an activity. Huge disservice to the whole community no matter what activities you prefer as an individual.

3 RepliesThey shouldn’t change anything, pvp belongs in every quest. Besides, isn’t it nice to take a break from pve every once in a while and challenge yourself by taking on opponents that are actually able to think?
-
I absolutely hate the pvp portions to. There was one quest (I think it was for Thorn, please correct me if I’m wrong here) that gave you credit for PVE or PVP kills. It was like... kill elite cabal in PVE or Titans in crucible. That was the first and only time they actually did a quest with PVP correctly. I can say I didn’t mind the PVP 25 kill step for impossible task, but only because Team Scorched was active. Not that I find PvP any fun, but that mode makes getting kills super easy and it’s not a super sweaty mode either since everyone is firing rockets.

1 ReplySadly bungie will never remove or change quests that have a pvp step, they will also continue to add more quests with pvp steps. This is due to the need to somehow get people to actually play pvp in destiny, as we all know pvp in destiny is by far the worst >< Going forward I think quests should have optional pvp and pve routes so people can take the route they prefer, pve taking the pve only route and pvp players getting a pvp route. It’s important to have both as there are people who only enjoy pvp in destiny (my guess brain aneurism).

I’m not a big PvP guy myself but I throw my hat in the ring when it’s required and push through. All that being said this Randy’s throwing knife scout is a slog. I’ll be happy when it’s done so I can actually play other parts of the game.

1 ReplyIt’s literally 25 assists, just put sweet business on and w mouse 1 you will probably get it in 2 games
-
Fine as is. No change needed.
-
Just follow whoever is on top of your team with the fastest fire rate weapon you have, aslong as you get an assist you get the credit for their death.
-
Sometimes PvP makes sense though. Thorn and TLW were guns built to kill actual people, so of course you've got to have PvP there.
-
Agreed. Fervent PVP hater here.
-
5 RepliesWow. It’s hilarious but also so sad how you kids are too proud to play pvp or pve. Imagine buying a game and refusing to play a third of it 😂
-
6 Replies25,000 kills in PvE, coming right up!
-
3 RepliesOh no 25 kills whatever will you do.
-
It's the first time pvp has ever been required for a story mission. Get over it
-
3 RepliesWe are wasting time writting these kind of posts, pal. Bungie doesn't care at all if their pvp is a shadow of what they did with Halo, many pvp players with an ego bigger than the universe doesn't respect that we don't want to play Destiny's pvp, and, as if forums were also pvp, they attack us here with comments showing how good they are and trying to make us look like crap and increase their own ego that way. I played Control for an hour to complete that adventure step an many others I had "on hold" because of the same reasons. I suggest you to do the same, get lots of adventures with pvp steps and seeing you're progressing with many at once will make it bearable enough.

6 RepliesWelcome to the party, we've been complaining about this for years. Don't worry, though, Bungie is "listening!"
-
I think it is important to note that some people have a pvp ban or are under threat of a pvp ban due to connection issues (non-cheaters). For many the game runs fine in pve activities but lags in pvp. I don't blame the person because I run many games just fine in multiplayer modes but I continually encounter issues in destiny with connectivity. I believe they need an alternate means of main quest progressions if they are going to continue to enforce punishments for connectivity in pvp.

1 ReplyHello, I felt the same way last year when I starting playing because soon as I would make a corner, bam; "where did that come from?" I've actually come to like it a whole lot more since then for the record. Anyway just thought I'd share and say thanks for voicing your opinion & taking the time to read mine. I feel like that is what helps this game to be among the best.
-
Well it is a impossible task
-
Boo hoo, get over it

8 RepliesAnd yet basically every desirable weapon and armor piece for PvP comes from hours upon hours of PvE grind; it goes both ways. Just be glad PvE players get the “done in 10 minutes steps” while PvP players get the “done... never steps.” Things like keeping power high for IB, exotic quests, high-stat roll armor, masterworking armor, getting new mods and good armor to slot it in, etc. all forces you to play PvE basically everyday to keep up. And that’s not even including some of the particularly bad offenders for farming weapons (curated Twilight Oath, Spare Rations and Gambit Prime weapons in general before the changes, raid weapons, etc).
-
4 RepliesYeah, I hate the toxic Gambit and Crusible modes. I began playing Anthem that only has PVE, no toxic PVP. Anthem is actually in a decent state now, especially true compared to Destiny's current state. The Anthem community seems more positive too.
-
Its literally 25 assists If ur not capable of that idk what to tell u
-
1 ReplyThere’s a PVE block on every PVP weapon quest....
