Alright Bungie, help me out here.

So I log in today to be informed that I'm restricted from matchmaking vs other players due to "unstable connection". Now, I would gladly admit if it were my fault, as I know when I'm lagging. (Though you make it difficult to know because where's our in-game ping display? It's only been so many years for a basic HUD addition that would be nice to have due to, y'know, your decision to suspend people over non-competitive content for LAGGING, but I digress.) If a suspension for lagging were only applicable when reported during Competitive play, and only applied to competitive, I would be entirely understanding (I never play Comp while lagging especially due to the fact I would lose more that I win and as a top bracket player I prefer to be allowed to impact my matches.) but it's due to Iron Banner and here's why I believe so: every time I play IB the game is stuttery, other players are difficult to hit or etc due to them lagging, server load, etc. As an avid competitive game player (CS, LoL, etc, upper brackets in each) I know I do not appreciate that you punish players for simply having a shitty internet connection, or more specifically, a poor connection to your unstable servers. Let's take a look at League of Legends and use it as an example here: Riot does not punish players for poor connectivity, as it only affects their ability to perform, reducing the amount of time they would have to react to things happening in game. It's no different for shooters, someone who's lagging has less time to react, their shots won't register, etc. Making them unable to climb to as high a bracket competitively as someone with a superior connection. There's simply no reason to suspend players for being laggy. This isn't a plee to revert this suspension, (though it would be greatly appreciated as I would like to get back to playing Gambit and the like with a friend I just bought all the DLC for last night, as he's interested in learning the gamemodes.) but to reconsider the design choice of your suspension system when it comes to non-competitive play. Quickplay, (Which isn't stuttery like IB btw) Rumble, (again not stuttery) and even the rotational non-competitive Valor mode Iron Banner, (oh hey the stuttersession) need to be excluded from the suspension pool for anything short of racism, cheating, hacking, etc. (Imagine hacking to win in QP) Gambit being on the list of things you're not allowed to access when you're suspended for having shitty connection is completely ridiculous, as within Gambit you can go entire matches without even interacting with the players on the opposing team and all lagging does is make PvE content slightly frustrating. (On that note, actually, let's start permanently banning player accounts for lagging vs PvE content too! Because suffering through a raid with someone who has unstable internet is very frustrating to put up with!) I'm not using a lagswitch, I want to point that out right this instant, I live on a farm in the middle of nowheresville with one ISP option and they tell us "oh well nothing we can do" when we're trying to get work done and they just decide to throttle the shit out of us. I don't plan on literally uprooting my life and livelyhood just to be allowed to play a videogame because I'd have a more stable ISP in the city. Even with a better ISP that doesn't guarantee better connectivity to your famously unstable servers. (Got friends with outstanding connections and they suffer the same problems I do with IB and your servers in general) I make certain to take every precaution I can to ensure I do not lag when entering PvP content, specifically the competitive playlist. Playing during low activity hours for my ISP as we are at the very end of our line from our ISP (they're replacing all their lines with fiber this coming Spring, so that is bound to get better soon) and also when everyone else in my household is asleep. So I am certain that I haven't been lagging substantially for awhile now. Please consider what you've read, Thank you.

 • Your crappy connection ruins other players experience period. You cannot compare this game to any other game because no other game is a pure PvP game where you get 3v3 or 6v6 on a P2P hybrid mesh. It is extremely sensitive to network instability and it is on YOU to maintain your connection. And just having a 'high speed' connection is not enough. You have to have low latency. Need to be off WiFi. Need to have a clean pipe and quality equipment.
