They can't update their vendors for 2 years, add iron banner weapons, bring back trials or faction rallies. But they got time to refresh eververse at a very high rate and create cook books!!!

41 RepliesI see there is some concern that we are using Dev resource on a cook book. I can assure you that no developers are working on this book. It’s being created by a partner through the Bungie store. I’ll continue to pass along your feedback about vendors, trials, and Faction Rallies.

1 ReplyThis cookbook is going to be based on the recipes in the 'Natural Harvest' cookbook.

6 RepliesThis is the reason why if I was a developer these forums would not be taken seriously, the forum posts like this and then the comments that follow tell of nothing more than angry individuals trying to lash out because they struggle to do that well enough in crucible.

1 ReplyPlot twist: the devs dont make the merch

Edited by Corrick II: 11/25/2019 5:48:14 PMI can almost guarantee you that no one from the development team had anything to do with this. Maybe someone from the narrative team provided some flavor text but that’s it. Your frustration is valid though, in my opinion. If the game was perfect, and we were wholly satisfied with the content and activities and rewards, and we had complete 100% faith in Bungie’s ability to deliver on the promise of Destiny’s potential, maybe, just maybe I can see them announcing a cookbook, like icing on a satisfying cake. As it stands now though, with all of the nerfs, limiting our freedom to customize the way we want, the focus on Eververse and the general repetition and grind, announcing a cookbook not only seems like a waste of resources, but a slap in the face of players who have been frustrated with the lack of changes for so long. Yes, it’s a little thing, but when they announce things like this all I can imagine is the executives in charge who make these decisions walking around Bungie’s offices thinking “everything is fine”. Everything is not fine. Save the cookbooks for later.

Youll get all of those things if you buy 5 copies of the cookbook. Then in that 5th copy there is a QR code written in invisible ink similar to what was used in the first national treasure. Scan that QR code and once you go through the steps and make it to the lost city of atlantis theyll give you an unlock key.

That might be a different department’s job.

11 RepliesWho would trust their cookbook, when their game is always "Half -Baked" ?
-
I saw the cook book and just laughed, it has nothing to do with nothing. There's no reason it should exist.
-
Does it include the recipe for whatever they were drinking when they designed Season of the Undying?
-
1 ReplyThey put fried chicken on the cover so I don't see what the problem is. That by itself shows they have some amount of sense.

I'd imagine stuff on the bungie store is not made by the same people who make most of the stuff in the actual game. I know a guy who worked on graphic design for bungie and rarely designed anything in the actual game until very recently. They have different teams for those kinds of things. Plus, when it comes to the bungie store, normally the stuff on it goes straight to charity rather than into the pockets of bungie employees. Granted, that does give them a bit of a tax cut, but they're still realistically paying about the same amount of money. I do agree that the constant eververse refreshes are getting a bit annoying though. As someone who defends the existence of eververse, there is just too much stuff on there right now. I can understand the seasonal refreshes, hell, I can even understand making the stuff less attainable just from playing the game (now that the loot boxes are irrelevant at least, doesn't go to forcing players into digital gambling), but I just can't understand the sheer amount of it all. And it has a pretty consistent amount of stuff each season too, I'm sure that's taking up a lot more dev time than necessary.

It’s only for the richies not for the poor.

3 RepliesThis really just makes me laugh. Their core audience is made up of children and streamers/content creators. Almost none of them cook their own meals. Who exactly are they marketing this to? Besides that, why the hell is a game company even making a book about food? lol Sad part is, I know at least a handful of people reading this will go out and buy it.
-
Imagine being so naive that you thing the dev team are the ones who had anything to do with the cookbook

I’m not cooking or eating ANYTHING endorsed by Drifter... even Cajuns have their limits.

Who can pass up the nerfed egg-transit steak with a side of collard dreg greens?

5 RepliesPlot twist. All the recipes are reskins and have all been nerfed. 3 egg omelets: Take 3 eggs, remove two of them. Place the single egg in cold frying pan. Wait 8-14 months while we collect feedback.
-
2 RepliesSay what you will about the cookbook But that fried chicken on the cover looks damn delicious
-
Say whatever you want, I'll just be over hear eating some house of kings jerk chicken
-
3 RepliesHey, give them a chance. Maybe if the cooking thing works out theyll try making a game next 🤷♂️

2 RepliesEdited by Kanashimi510: 11/22/2019 3:37:05 AMI can see the destiny cookbook now. It's filled with normal versions of classic dishes, but with a completely unsafe level of extra salt.
-
And whats sad is its all reprised recipes. Then cookbook 2.0 will be repised from this one, only with more salt

1 ReplyEdited by Sixlj: 11/22/2019 10:05:57 PMMy post here is not endorsing or supporting the actions that have been taken so far by the developers. What they've done, continue to do and what they plan is wholly another subject of its own. However, I seriously doubt the developers have any tangible control AND priority over a cook book (and I also doubt their management is assigning this task to them). The cook book seems more of a marketing project and in no way reflects or affects development of the game or its continued pathway for refinements (unless they want to open up a restaurant). It's all too easy to go ahead and blame everyone at Bungie for all its shortcomings, right? Let's use critical thinking here rather than impulsively vent from pent up anger. Surprisingly for those others on this thread who cry wolf or don't try to research first, you may want to check out the author of the cook book -- Victoria Rosenthal (https://titanbooks.com/creators/victoria-rosenthal/) She has authored Fallout's official cookbook in 2018, and hosts a blog dedicated to video games and foods since 2012.
