Merge destiny 1+2 and just call it destiny

Hello, I have a swell idea that obviously would have it's risks and challenges but I think would be great overall Why not just merge both games? The only actual "destination" missing from the game currently is venus Alot of multiplayer maps have returned as well Crucible could be maintained for both as it is currently but with returning modes like rift and salvation as bonus modes My idea for it is, merge as much as possible to make the story more cohesive. Giving us the first mission of destiny and then slapping people into destiny 2, while a bold move. Doesnt make sense.( i started a new character to see what was different and it doesnt make any sense as is The director could have selection slides for each destination For example if I scroll over earth, I could then use left or right to select cosmodrome, or the edz This would end up making more content available and while a huge untertaking could be wonderful overall I've got many ideas on how EVERYTHING could work togethrr but instead of droning on, let's discuss
English

  • I fully support this. If only so we can finally get more Destiny 1 armor sets back. Created a Titan in D2 recently and hotdamn are the armor sets ugly.

  • I'd -blam!-ing love if we had all D1 content on PC in D2!

Bungie doesn’t care about fun or engaging content anymore, sadly. They only care about money. More content doesn’t make them nearly as much as eververse so unfortunately while a cool idea, it will never happen.

  • Ive been stalking this post ever since it was done (which I normally don’t do, but you could say I’m as dedicated as you are to make it happen) and I’m thinking of all the possible ways I can pass this to the development team, or hell, even cosmo.

  • This is something that Bungie should do. Merge both, call it destiny and just release new expansions each year. What would the amazing ? If they port over all of our current weapons from D1 into D2. Oh my god. These noobs wouldn’t know what to do with all of the OG D1/Y1 weapons all of us borders have stashed away. Hello sir 2017 Christmas Noobus. Meet my Pocket Infinity 😅

  • I’ve been saying this since after Warmind. I was like “why didn’t Bungie rather then making another Game (D2) and just add the Red War, Curse of Osiris, Warmind, Forsaken/Annual Pass etc. But Bungie did what Bungie did.

I used to raid 2 even 3 times a day in d1 but apart from the original leviathan I have not liked any of the d2 raids - so I would love this to happen just so I can go into the old raids and enjoy raiding again as long as they update the power levels. But sadly many have asked for this over the years and been ignored by bungie (to hard for them).

  • That would be nice but I don't want the beautiful D1 to get contaminated by the greed filled shit pile called D2

  • How about go back with one update... Fix how special currently is so I don’t have to use icebreaker then leave it alone completely after that... don’t want my fancy armor being messed with in that game too.

  • While this is a good idea, it’s nothing new and has been requested many times. Bungie’s excuse is that it will take up to much room on people consoles and they want to leave room for other games... I say, port them both and let the community decide whether we want it or not.

    • It would be nice if they could but they said there are limitations to how much they can add.

    • Don’t get me wrong I want this, but console users don’t have the space for it. The game would easily exceed 220GB. I love D1 content. If they were to add it I would love it. But it’s very unlikely with bungie removing things to keep the game small.

The game takes place between two periods in time there was a gap in time between the red war and the siva crisis. If the two were mixed this game would end up having a even major problem with balancing guns. As well destiny 1 is owned by activison completely and destiny 2 isnt anymore it isn’t possible anymore

          • Probably would have to wait till next console generation. The developer blog or whatever it was talked about memory limits and how content has to rotate out because they physically can't just keep adding stuff

          • I think they are trying to work towards a "destiny worlds" type thing which would be awesome! Only issues would be the size of the game and the processing power needed to effectively have it running smoothly. But if cloud gaming becomes a big thing and as internet gets faster and consoles more powerful I can see it actually happening.

          • SmashinMuffinz You make some valid points and i agree that eververse must be removed from this game but, Whether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let's get to taking out their command, one by one. Valus Ta'aurc. From what I can gather, he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank just outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold.

          • That would be pretty fun but could mess with the timeline/ appearance changes in certain world locations. Having too many world states for a single area creates problems. They could probably add the story missions, and some modified raids though.

I still think the smartest, and most crucially *easiest* move technically, provided the publishing rights for the franchise fully reverted to Bungie, and there's no catch with D1, would have been also making D1's existing console versions F2P, bundling it and New Light together as being optional individual separate downloads within the same bundle on the respective consoles' stores, and adding a handful of unlockable rewards in D2 for those who have completed certain milestones in D1 to reward those who choose to play through it to get the story prior to beginning D2. That way players who chose to play through D1 will go into D2 after several hours of story, with a bunch already invested in the game, and potentially more of a mind to spend money on it as a result.

          • If they're planning rotate Seasonal activities out of the roster partly on the basis of the amount of data that would need to continuously be grown, what likely hood is it that they would port over the majority of D1's relevant assets?

          • As a PC player There is a disconnect for me and the Nightmares of shadowkeep - they are almost all about villains from D1. I would have way more emotional response to them and the loss of Cayde if I actually played through D1. Commit to the MMO formula and make it one whole experience. It would be a game changer and turn a lot of eyes if Bungie brought D1 into the game especially since it’s supposed to be an ever changing world. Using the Red War as the event that changes the solar system makes sense narratively and would be awesome to experience as a player. We would have more content for everyone, more planets and did a mention more content with a revamped D1?

            • The moon was the start, they're likely to sprinkle on some old locations like the cosmodrome and Venus. Old Mars has a Clovis Bray facility where Siva was produced, and let's forget how the vex ties into *Actual shadowkeep spoiler*
the darkness and the black garden, and the vex's "home world" is Venus. The vault of Glass is their biggest asset besides the black garden. If bungie wants to continue the story with the darkness and the vex, as obviously they will the cliffhanger ending and the back gardens return, then Venus is going to be one of the most pivotal locations.
The cosmodrome is where fallen houses are still gathering up, and in the outbreak quest and SotP we saw fallen begin new invasions on the city, which we'll need to stop (with fallen separatist on our side. Really excited for that) D1 locations are still relevant and we should be expecting their return, especially with shadowkeeps ending

            • All this time spent on what? They literally just copied over D1 content changing near nothing. I’ve been saying for years. A dev stated they can just load in D1 content directly into Destiny 2. Well here you go guys, epic proof. Not only that all this time and massive studio. They gave us a quarter assed story about possibly the biggest part of Destiny. This is more like a 15 dollar expansion not a $35 one. I’m guessing the seasons are just held back parts of the actual game released. Kind of pissed off.
