Edit, la finale: we got an official response about the state of the armor and are getting more information soon. It'd be nice if we give them some slack and then see what they have to present for further discussions.
Since the rest of the thread is not relevant with the above revelations, I've moved it into the spoiler below, but it is still accessible in its entirety for anyone interested in what was going on here.
TL;DR: Pax west leaked the Garden of Salvation raid armor for hunters, which is a reskin of a CoO Eververse armor set, instead of providing a new set of Black Garden themed armor, which we previously saw in the Shadowkeep ViDoc.
Not TL;DR:
Earlier this day, this post revealed the new Exotic trace rifle, Divinity. OP pointed out that it is found in the raid collection, meaning the armor that is found along side it, is the raid armor set for the hunter from the Garden of Salvation raid.
The issue with that being, that the armor is basically a reskin of the Curse of Osiris Omega Mechanos Eververse armor set.
Now, where is the issue with that, I hear you ask? Well, the issue is that we had a preview as to what the Garden of Salvation raid armor initially could have been, as it was seen in the first Shadowkeep ViDoc.
Now, why this is upsetting, I hear you ask? Well, this is upsetting, because the armor we could have gotten as a raid reward, was moved into the monetization section of the game, namely, the Season of the Undying universal ornaments.
If you compare those 2 sets, you can see that they're basically identical, with model changes made to the hunter and titan helmet, plus the texture changes to account for the Black Garden theme.
This change in the aesthetic of a previously leaked armor, with an obvious black garden theme, with the Season of the Undying not being centered around the black garden, with the Season of the Undying universal armor set looking just like the previously leaked armor that was hypothesized to be the Garden of Salvation raid armor, while the actual Garden of Salvation raid armor is a reskin, makes it look like that they decided to use the better-looking armor set as an incentive for their monetizations, after changing it up a bit to fit the Season of the Undying theme more appropriately.
This is quite the bummer because getting the Black Garden themed Vex armor would have felt like a thing we asked for years to return to D2, where we basically scavenge the enemies we defeat for their stuff and use it for ourselves and with that in mind, I'm looking way less forward to playing the raid, now that I know that the armor it will reward is just reskins with glows slapped onto them.
Now, what can we do about it? Well, we can provide constructive and respectful feedback and hope the devs see that we're not pleased with the decision to axe the supposed raid armor to use it as bait for people to buy into the Season of the Undying.
What do you think of this whole situation, let's give your feedback down below.
Edited by MstrofPuppts: 8/31/2019 5:57:10 PMThen there would be no loot had, as Bungo has been doing this since D1
-
So how many here actually have the full eververse set from Osiris? I’m guessing not many especially for all 3 characters
-
Edited by The-IIID-Emp1r3: 8/31/2019 5:55:07 PMAbout that linked pic you have, the Omega set seen in the pic is the eververse gear that will become ornaments, so in that picture they're listed next to the Vex Offensive* gear as ornaments to give an indication to what our would look like on the gear if you wanted it
-
They reskin 60% of the content. Not just the loot.
-
6 RepliesBeing asked to pay for reskinned content in Destiny. Shocker.
-
Well I'm getting both sets anyway so I don't really care either way.
-
Just lazy design. They’ve run out of ideas and don’t want to put in those extra bits of effort that make a game special.
-
this is really irritating, raids are one of the big pinnacle activities in destiny, and the entire reason I do them is because of the unique look of the gear. This news makes me not want to buy shadowkeep at all, what's the point of doing a raid that gives me gear that is just something I got in year 1 but with a coat of green paint! I don't think anyone even liked that armor set in the first place!
-
1 ReplySo, did they actually show off the armor itself? Or just the icons? Because it could all just be placeholder
-
I agree. Amours gotta feel n look special.
-
8 RepliesLmao Borderlands is better.
-
Raid gear is typically hidden until you've done the raid
-
I hear you ask? Lol
-
It’s because players like you would have been assumed gone by now. So new players don’t know any better
-
5 RepliesIn terms of armor, I’m not so crazy about it, but if it’s weapons, than yea, it’s going to matter. And if people think reskin weapons are good, they’re a bunch of clowned meta abusers
-
2 RepliesThey do it for the rest of the game so why should you be any different just because you do raids ... I think that you should be grateful that you get anything at all. Raid gear could be as bad as open world .. just something to think about
-
This started to become a problem in the first Destiny with the Taken King expansion, we saw a lot of reskinned armour on its release. They've become lazy, it doesn't take long to create armour and gun models. I can whip up a new armour set of a much better quality is less than seven hours so there really no excuse for reskinning armour. Maybe they could do what Bethesda did which is to allow community mods. Someone creates an armour set, they submit it to Bungie who then sell it at Eververse with the modder getting 70% of the money it makes.

4 RepliesEverything is re-skins lol it almost makes me not wanna purchase Shadowkeep

Edited by botbot1973: 8/31/2019 3:32:33 PMI was disappointed when I saw some of the leaks. A Helmet that looked like my old d1 raid helmet;( I am of the mind to consider this the starting point of destiny as they have had so much change and may as year 3 (d2)rolls out find what destiny should be. I love the game and will give it more time but I suspect reskind and old loot will be used and will deal the final blow to me..... I also wonder why they let gear be earned and then add it to the loot pool later so it doesn’t get any exclusivity and takes away any sense of achievement or value of the time you may of invested. How many times will they make the same mistakes?

I think I posted here that we’ve never really accepted reskins but now that im awake i see the reskins are raid armor from eververse that is the laziest bungie has ever been a few seasons ago they just used titan pacifia armor reskinned for eververse now this again for raid armor
-
At least the weapons look really good
-
We shouldn't accept half of their lazy uninspired ideas....same as it ever was.
-
6 RepliesEdited by Revoker: 8/31/2019 1:09:11 PMI don’t think we should accept posts as reskins *cough* *cough* Either you stole it from reddit or reddit stole it from you https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/cxrz0v/i_dont_think_we_should_accept_reskins_as_raid_loot/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app

11 RepliesYou know that most D1 raid weapons were reskins?
-
9 RepliesI think you just wrote a book on something that really doesn't matter at all. If you're that hurt over reskins you probably should find another hobby.
-
I mean.. what did you expect? The entire dlc is created using reused assets. Even the trailer for sk was a reskin. 90% of the weapons and armor in destiny for the past 2 years were reskins. Why would you expect anything different?
