make whisper a special weapon
ever since its nerf whisper has become obsolete no one uses it because it takes heavy ammo one of the main points of the gun was infinite ammo. black spindle had the same problem in d1 and the d2 whisper was the same yet they received the same nerfs no more infinite ammo whats the point of bringing something back just to nerf it again in the same way. so make it a special at least it will have some use in that slot

Even if it was special most people still wouldn't use it due to actually useful heavy exotics. Things like Anarchy, One Thousand Voices, even Tractor Cannon if your team has Swarm of the Raven on. Even Prospector would be more useful than slotting Whisper. Same with Sleeper or Thunderlord. They ruined Spindle yet again because they do not understand the fundamental ideology behind simply nerfing things. Trash guns will stay trash and the list of useful guns will just get smaller and smaller until the entire playerbase is exclusively using 1 gun. Despite what people may argue, Whisper wasn't the end all be all in the game. It was useful in things like Last Wish when we were 40 light under every encounter and wanted to go and hide from damage. On Light with the raid? Use a shotgun. On light with the strike? Use whatever you want because strike bosses are literally made out of paper.

7 RepliesHas literally nobody used whisper since the nerf? It's still the same gun, still amazing, you will never run out of ammo unless you're wasting it on purpose. It's still the 2nd highest DPS, higher than swarm with spikes, if the enemy has a x2 crit modifier. And even if they don't, it's still very good.

1 ReplyAgreed. Mountain top is better than it, it’s outclassed by Darci. Spike nade launchers don’t require headshots. Whisper is literally never used or doesn’t need to be used.

42 RepliesNope. No reason to move it anywhere. It has waay more DPS than pretty much any special weapon in the game, exotic or otherwise. It still has very competitive DPS with other top exotics (I.e. DARCI) It has some of the highest total damage in the game. It will probably become much better when/if unlimited ammo refills become nerfed which we hope they will. (barricade and luna boots are pretty strong) The only thing "bad" about it right now, is that it doesnt feel exotic. Not because its perk is good, it very much IS. The problem with how powercrept we are as guardians and the fact that what was once an "exotic" trait in d1 (Black Spindle) is now considered normal through the use of our abilities completely ruins its perks.

3 RepliesBungie weapon cycle: Bring back a fan favourite weapon to create hype and to lure back players who have left playing the game. Make the weapon OP for a while so that everyone is playing for it. Get the players-logged-in numbers high. Nerf it soon afterwards citing some crap reasons. Repeat for another exotic! Profit! Monte Carlo might be the next OP weapon for a while when Shadowkeep releases and then will be nerfed into oblivion afterwards.

Make Whisper's damage multiplicative depending on how many consecutive precision shots. That way it isn't rendered redundant by lunafaction boots and rally barricade but instead becomes very strong in the hands of a good player.

I remember thinking Darci should have been made a special weapon because Whisper was just the better option, oh how the tables have turned. I'm willing to bet that D2 will not provide any future activity where whisper would be so busted that it becomes meta and ran all the time even with infinite ammo. Where was it really ridiculous before this crap began? It's own mission, and come on, that should be fine Zero hour, but no one really bothered Insurrection Prime, but Outbreak and Darci exist Val Calour, i guess? What are they gonna put out that is so good because of the nerf that it would actually trigger the thought, "oh yeah, whisper would have[i] [b]really [/b][/i]broke this"?

I've been thinking the same thing. If both Black Spindle and Whisper of The Worm are identical, I don't see a reason why Whisper should remain in the heavy slot rather than moving over to the special slot.

I want to know who the dumbass was that introduced the gun with the og D1 perk only to nerf it the same way they did in D1. How incompetent can Bungie be? They should’ve just introduced it with the nerfed perk and saved themselves a lot of time and effort....but wait....then it wouldn’t be viable and nobody would buy their shitty ornament from eververse.

Make it a Special Weapon, change it to legendary instead of exotic, and name it "Black Hammer." The laziness with this nerf is unnaceptable. Does Bungie not even monitor the current state of their game? What is the point of pulling ammo from reserves when Lunafactions does this anyways? None the less other weapon perks that aren't exotic?
