Back in my day, we spinfoiled and had fun talking lore. Now all you kids do is post your fanfics and...talk lore.
Carry on.

6 RepliesI’ll take fanfics over pointless rants anyday. And it’s only a matter of time before lore starts.... roleplaying.... oh god.....

5 RepliesThe overall quality of the forums has lowered massively from what it was a year back.
-
4 RepliesWe don’t like it either. But there isn’t a fanfic section. I downvote all of them I see.

1 ReplyEdited by foxburton99: 8/25/2019 12:35:33 PM
Nerf fusion rifles

In all seriousness though, I do find it a bit sad how #Lore has changed. I also loved the mystery and room for theory that was left for us in D1, and although I can truly say I’m happy for all the answers and information given to us in D2, it has had a heavy effect on what gets posted nowadays. Now instead of having the sensible theories and explanative lore posts mixed in with the senseless theories and unbacked “lore posts”, we only have the senseless and unbacked. Nobody posts about the deep lore because everyone has access to a simple layout of the deep lore instead of a mess of vague little bits like in D1 But the worst part is definitely how fanfics are treated now. Sure back in the TTK era people started posting fanfics in #Lore because no one ever read anything in #Gallery, and I didn’t mind that those people got a few downvotes and such because that wasn’t necessarily where the post belonged; it was rude to discourage those people, but also not unexpected. But now that #Gallery is gone there is no other option but to posts fanfics in #Lore, and frankly I am disappointed in the community for how negatively they are received. People write fanfics for their own enjoyment and to entertain others, and seeing how #Lore is their home now they especially don’t deserve all the downvotes and poor treatment that they have been receiving. We didn’t ask for #Gallery to get taken away, but it did, and the least the community could do is accept that one part of the Destiny family moved in with the other Food for thought. Rant over. Go out there and make someone’s day, Guardians :)
As someone who has made several “Unoffical Grimoire Cards” (Fanfic just makes it sound I’m shipping two characters like Eva and Shaxx. Eeugh.), I would really enjoy for there to be a separate section for that sort of thing. In the meantime, it is what it is, and I will try my best to flag mine as clearly as possible.

*when you see someone carry an Offtopic copypasta out of Offtopic*
You were supposed to do that
1 Reply(The copypasta has spread to #lore)

2 RepliesOkay so hear me out...
So the guardians in the tower defend the people and the Traveler. Traveler = someone who Travels. In order to travel, you need to Navigate the world. Someone who navigates is a Navigator. The First Navigator is the title for Oryx. Therefore Traveler = Oryx
Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.

1 ReplyOh god, the format is spreading!

5 RepliesThe romantic ones make me cringe so hard that I find myself smashing my head on the desk every time I see them.

2 RepliesTalk about toxic

6 RepliesSoap Mactavish and captain price have better lore than all these trash characters in this game. Plus destiny keeps changing the lore so it goes with their choppy storylines.

5 RepliesI wonder what happen to the baby that was resurrected by a ghost.

You're right, but I think that there is a simple explanation for that. Back in the past (and for the past I mean with the old Grimoire in D1), Lore was more... cryptic, mysterious, hard to explain. We had really few pieces of informations took here and there, scattered. The only really big chunck of LORE we ever had was the Books of Sorrow in TTK. There were more questions then answers, more mysteries then explanations. Now things are changed. We have A LOT of informations about many things execatly as it was for the Books of the Sorrow. Starting from Shin and the Shadows of Yor, the Nine, Mara Sov, Orin, Uldren, the Drifter, the Spider ecc ecc. We not only have more informations but they are also clearer, easier to understand. Of course, there are still many and many mysteries to solve but I think that a large portion of people right now can take by themselfs answers so that's why there are less discussions about the lore... Also -but this only a personal opinion- I think that the new generation of players, the one that arrives directly with D2, is more interested in the game itself and its mechanics then about the LORE.

Spinfoiling is ok, but definite guessing should be more encouraged. The idea of the worm on Titan does not show itself to be Oryx for example. Could it be? Possibly. Is it realistic? No.
-
Yeh but #destiny used to be full of copypastas and penis polls. Now it is essentially #feedback. It all changed when they purged this place at the beginning of d2, they got rid of anyone who had fun and replaced them with you boring -blam!-ers.
-
Back in my day, lore wasn’t folklore, and the lore from in-game wasn’t worse than some of the fanfics posted on here.
-
Yep, it used to be a discussion...
