Grenades, as a whole, are pretty lackluster outside of a few outliers (handheld supernova, chain lightning). They are typically used as deterrents for doorways or as primers to get the edge on opponents. They are almost never used as a means of getting the final blow, and when they are, it is highly situational.
In this argument, I'm going to be comparing grenades to melees, as they are typically seen as opposites in regards to quests and perks. The reason this is an issue is because charged melees typically have a regular melee to follow up with, ensuring a melee kill for quest purposes, and some melees (you know the ones) are capable of OHKO. Grenades, outside of what I listed above, are very, very underpowered in comparison as they don't have an ability backup like melees do.
I think grenades should be buffed to D1 standards. Stickies should OHKO, as they are very strong but are harder to hit with. Grenades such as Arc Bolt can have their damage increased for each additional enemy the grenade chains damage to. Incendiary Grenades can have a damage falloff radius in which close enough proximity (standing on the grenade) can offer a OHKO.
If charge times suffer for this change, then I say so be it. I'd rather have a more potent grenade than a grenade that's nothing more than a softener in PvP.
PS. Can we please have Escape Artist arc souls count as grenade kills? You have to eat a grenade to have one so it only makes sense
Edit: I think the blink effect of Tripmines should also be toned down by about half. It does no good as a trap grenade if your opponent can see it
Edit 2: I would like to clarify that I don't want to ask for OVERPOWERED grenades. I think grenades should have the potential to OHKO with skilled placement, depending on the skill of the player and also the opponents resilience. I do not intend to ask for a buff in such a manner that would replace the effectiveness of guns
Edit 3: THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE IRON BANNER QUEST. I brought it up ONLY because it really showed how difficult it was to get grenade kills in comparison to the other parts of the quest. I don't need tips on how to git gud, I don't need loadout suggestions. All I'm asking for here is for grenades to have potential to OHK on occasion. Not every grenade thrown, mind you, but when the stars align just right.

2 RepliesGrenades in destiny 2 have lost their ability to discourage people from grouping up
-
1 ReplyOHK stickies? No. Should they do more damage? Yes.
-
2 RepliesYou're all wondering why Bungie got rid of OHK grenades, while I'm just sitting here still trying to figure out why they decided to nerf tripmines and prevent them from sticking to target.
-
3 RepliesWe used to have OHK stickies but the PvP cryhards lost their shit because "skill" and "gun play" and whatever else self-soothing bullshit they could spew. So, Bungo do what Bungo do, and nerfed grenades with a sledgehammer and now they suck ass.

I dissagree with your want to habe grenades 1hk But i do agree that grenades are super ineffective atm, especially when we talk about support supers who basically are only good for their nuetral game without their super available I think a more reasonable buff/ change would be a faster tick rate (for grenades like void grenade or the fore wall grenade) and a faster explosion time for every other grenade And for grenades like trip mine remove the delay on trigger so someone cant just walk away from it and take no dmg Over all im hoping this all changes when they add discipline, intellect and strength again

I didn’t find the grenade portion of the quest all that difficult. I just threw charged axion grenades down any hallway a teammate was shooting. Half of my grenade kills I didn’t even see who I killed lol.

Young Ahamkara's spine should allow you to stick tripmines to enemies/Guardians. And if you stick it allow for OHKO to that Guardian. And just regular damage to anyone close enough to them.
-
Heart of innermost light = ohk stickies.

I felt in general D1 Y1 grenades were okay but needed some tweaks. Better than now for sure. Basically any sticky should kill someone. Bolt grenades deal half health Trip mines shouldn’t stick to people but they should 1 shot if someone is caught in it. Lingering AoE grenades should be able to kill if the victim doesn’t exit them, and certain versions of that should hit harder (spike versions in particular). Niche grenades need to be looked at as a whole Especially in PvE. (I’m looking at you skip grenades).

Agree

Grenades are weak.

3 RepliesBungie had the perfect grenades, it just wasn't in Destiny. Halo was perfect, frags did a good amount if close, plasma did the same but if you stuck it to them they died. put that in destiny with NO magneticism. don't need them tracking or curving but if you legit stick a grenade to a person, they should die. would do wonders for shotgun apes as well
-
3 RepliesI think you've brought up a good point. The only grenade that one hits right now is the hand held super nova for warlocks. All other grenades might kill someone eventually if they stand in it for an extended period of time, and if they do that then it's more accidental than purposeful. A grenade should feel rewarding when you land it and not lackluster because you needed one less bullet to take down an enemy. On that note I don't think they should be increased to D1 standards. One hit killing shouldn't be an option, but they do need a damage increase to make them effective in crucible. I'm not sure on the percentages that they should be increased, it would take some testing to make sure they don't go overboard and become too potent.

Took me two days i played on my titan had all grenade mods plus the iron banner shotty roles with demolitionist made things easy.

6 RepliesComparing melees to grenades is useless for your argument. Grenades are cooldowns which can be launched across a map or zone from relative safety, whereas melees require you to be in an inherently dangerous position. This basic game design philosophy is exactly why Fists of Havoc lasts longer than Hammer of Sol, Golden Gun and Daybreak. You can not simply give grenades ohko potential when they can be thrown from far away. That is very unbalanced.

9 Replies How to complete iron banner grenade kills for those who've never played a fps that isn't call of duty. Warlock Handheld supernova and chain lightning Pretty self explanatory. Titans Grabs those grenade mods. Anyone remember ashen wake? 1 tap with a hand canon, chuck an impact grenade for an easy kill. Or run heart of inmost light, pop a barricade and get a 1 shot kill sticky Or run Hallowfire heart or armamentarium for more grenades. Hunters Anyone remember lucky raspberry? Arcbolt combo with a hand canon for easy kills. Instant recharge. Bottom tree blade dancer, super fast recharge everytime health gets low. Remember Shinobu vow? Yeah that exotic that ran rampant during the revelry.? Its still pretty good. Or better yet run frostees. Extra fast charge time for all 3 abilities everytime you sprint. tldr You may have noticed that most of these can't rely solely on the grenade. It requires you to think when playing the game. Not just mindlessly chuck a grenade

Honestly, good. D1 was ludacris with the grenades.

2 RepliesI don’t want OHK stickies back. that’s one of the things I don’t miss about D1.

3 RepliesEdited by michael: 6/25/2019 1:46:39 AMIm glad they arent as strong, year 3 d1 crucible sucked because everyone had tier 5 discipline and ohk or near ohk grenades were in every engagement

3 RepliesGet good

Edited by thatdudeEd54: 6/25/2019 7:29:44 AMId rather not see stickies come back into meta. Those days in d1 were the worst

1 ReplyGrenade have been bad since destiny 2 released. Everyone down voted me for saying it about a year and a half ago, now everyone sees?

Sticky Tripmine.

2 RepliesEdited by blade329: 6/24/2019 3:16:31 PMGrenades SUCK in this game. That's why I hated that quest step. Even the best grenade, Titan Pulse, is mediocre at best. I've had times were guardians just walk right through it, while I'm shooting them, and down me with a shotgun. They still had 1/3 of their health left. Yeah, Bungie, your grenades are joke. Anybody use sticky grenades? Trip Mines? Yeah, I didn't think so. The weakest pieces of crap in the game. I'm surprised they can even take down a rank and file Fallen. And don't get me started on melee attacks.

Grenades are trash in this game I rarely ever. Throw the damn things... Hell most people just run right threw them and I dnt think that should be possible
-
I'll be much happier if Grenades are as strong as D1 were.
