My first week of owning forsaken i was told it was the number one gun to get for boss dps. I took a fireteam that started at 3 then to 7 then to 9 people on two different party chats grinding to get everyone the gun. It took an entire day. But we all got it. Everytime I melt a boss I remember that day. Good times.

20 Repliesthe question is why are they doing this. what prompted bungie to make this nerf, which was something they have told us they wanted to move away from. what are they hoping we move too? the motivation for the change? who complained that trench barrel was in need of a nerf? I have said for years, it always feels like bungie changes the rules on us as they go alone, it is us against bungie, not us playing a game that bungie made, with them providing support for a better experience. When we find ways to enjoy the game, feel powerful and take a raid, nf etc apart in ways they never thought, they tend to make changes that negatively impact our gaming.. Negative in that they nerf weapons, abilities etc. Without providing the reason for the change or what they hope we move to, we are then left to our own devices to attempt to find that next killer weapon, combo etc.. and when we do.. you best believe they will not appreciate it and instead nerf it.. Us against Bungie.. never gonna change.

1 ReplyThese random nerfs totally put me off bothering trying for top tier weapons. I imagine next they’ll nerf Luna’s Howl because people complain about it. I blame the community more than anything though...they say they want powerful weapons then when they get them they complain about them so they are watered down. I still maintain the most fun I had in the game was in D1, rolling with my Fatebringer, Black Hammer and Gjallahorn. Literally felt like a god but it was so much fun.

6 Repliesthanks very much bungo. kinda sad it took them a half year... after that long time of using it, it sucks hard to have it nerfed that bad. nerfwhinebabys won again. im gettin tired of this constant nerf/buff festival tbh.
-
1 ReplyWas a good gun, but like every other great gun BUNGO had to f...k it up. This is why people leave this game and never come back. Bungie is not happy unless it nerfs something imo. Bungie don’t make good weapons, stay with the crap you like, Unpowered , bland crucible weapons.

Lol, Bungie loves to destroy their own game, I'll never get it but I digress.
-
The biggest problem with this nerf is the fact that many people now wasted a LOT of hours grinding to get this gun. I wonder, is an automatic badlander with a boss spec better reliable DPS now?
-
11 RepliesSo much for respecting play time. Put in the hours /days /weeks! Get that awesome gun! And then stick it in the Vault when Bungie gets their hands on it. Hey Bungie, when you take the fun out of a game, the game becomes less fun. Not sure if your genius developer leads have figured that out yet.

Wow- all that time spent in EP. I was lucky but many of my friends had to beat it dozens of times (on the week it was available) to get that shotty.

6 RepliesEdited by Dunkinuts: 11/28/2018 9:03:54 AMIt was nerfed because of all those thousands of complaints about it.......... Hang on, wait, what! WTF, there isn't any. Way to go Bungie. Lets screw around with a weapon us users enjoy....... Bungie, you may sit around that round table, giving it a whoop whoop and a large pat on the back for how you THINK you have changed, but in that core of yours nothing has changed. Still nerfing the shit out of good stuff. To be fair I took my shottie on a Gambit run and it was ok. Never the less it should of been left as it was. There are other weapons, shite weapons that need attention, but you Dev's wouldn't know that because you ignore us and you yourselves are only Lvl, what 565 and 580! I know Lvl has nothing to do with it but its a reasonable marker to how experienced you are and lets face it you are the Dev's. Just IMO. Edit: I just want to know why is it so difficult to concentrate on improving the crap weapons yet so easy to nerf the good...

4 RepliesTotally unjustified and quite frankly doesn't make any sense. Smart groups of players are always going to find ways to burn things to the ground that's all there is to it. Nerfing 1 gun to "make everything else more viable" is the wrong answer. Leveraging the best guns and abilities is not cheesing. It's called strategy and efficiency. No one is going to use some badlander when they have access to the Gjallarhorn horn of shotties in their back pocket. Do we not see the futility in this?

29 RepliesAnd down the nerf trail we go... Bungie really hasnt learned anything. Unbelievable, this almost feels as bad as the OG black hammer nerf felt in D1...

8 RepliesThanks again bungie for ruining destiny

Stupid nerf was stupid. I really liked that shotgun.
-
1 ReplyEdited by AKS1: 11/29/2018 4:10:33 AMA first year shotgun shouldn't be outperforming second year heavy weapons. It was way too strong.
-
Good, im sick of using the same 3 guns for everything.
-
Understandable. It made a lot of things a bit too easy. *cough* Crutch *cough*
Hey don't be hating me just because it's true!
11 RepliesI can fully understand why they have done it and people will need to just change a few strategies going forward. Gambit - Prime Evil Spawns, Warlock drops a well and rift, Titan hits melting point then drops Prime Evil in 8 shots whilst wearing Synthoceps. No need to bother with Envoys or Adds. It happens all the time and ruins Gambit, even LFG was full of groups looking for Ikelos and Synthoceps. Last Wish - Shuro Chi - Warlock wearing Luna's drop rift then blast her with Ikelos. Morgeth - stand at his back then Warlock drops well and rift then blast him with Ikelos. The Ikelos has become the standard and only weapon for so many PvE encounter it's hardly surprising it got tweaked. It was far too over powered and still will be a very powerful weapon. People will just have to rethink a few strategies in the game.

Edited by ketchup_lover57: 11/28/2018 5:52:18 PMSpeaking from experience here, it isn't that bad. Sure its a downgrade, but it's going to be in the weapon perk pool now so I understand. I played 5 gambits, 3 strikes, and 2 raids yesterday and I used ikelos for all except the strikes. 3 trench barrel shots is all you really need for most yellow bar enemies. The gambit bosses are always trying to stomp you away so having to punch every so often isn't really an inconvenience. Ikelos only really shines in the raid against Kali and Shuro, and with a full team of ikelos we were still perfectly on time with damage. I highly doubt anything will ever replace this perk, ikelos might suck now but imagine later in the game when we get some slower shotguns that can only manage 3 shots but in return churn out massive damage. In summary, I've used ikelos and it's still good. It's no longer the absolute best gun, its just been demoted to one of the best. As for changes, I feel like the number of shots should be 4 or damage should be increased by a couple percent. I can absolutely guarantee you it's still the best special for dps. If you grinded for it just recently I'm sorry and I understand your anger. For those of us that have had it for a while, melting with it was fun and the nerf is a disappointment, but the gun is still amazing. This game has for a while now been stuck in a one-loudout-is-the-only-one-that-works rut for a while. Midnight coup, ikelos, whisper. Bungie wants their game to be diverse. They want you to use new stuff. And always remember to go and test something before forming an opinion. If someone tells you a weapon sucks, go try it. It might just be your favorite.

22 RepliesEdited by Divine_Majin93: 11/28/2018 11:54:32 AMI can see PvP nerfs being somewhat justified on occasion. But PvE? Come on, people put in the time, let'em cheese whatever they want. There's nothing in the rulebook stating everyone has to use that gun lol. What happened to making us feel powerful? I was thinking about actually purchasing Forsaken and the Pass. They saved me 70 bucks for certain now. I've come to realize they love invalidating accomplishment in this game.

Good. All shotty crutch losers can go kick rocks.
-
11 RepliesI thought bungie was done catering to the casuals ? This is the fault of all the casuals they don’t have the ep shotty in gambit....
-
2 RepliesI’m pissed because this one took grinding over 30 EP’s to get, this is not a regular drop that’s given to us, we all had to grind to get and this was the only weapon with this perk, this is BS and literally feels like bungie spitting in our faces to put this shotty in the regular shotgun class
-
Really, really, really disappointing.
