It has begun... raid elitism

Almost all of the LFG posts I see are 590+ 10 completions emblem required. Will check tracker. Man get outta here with that bullshit. I've been helping underleveled and underprepared people through the raids since VOG days. The acidity and elitism bothers me to no end. Learn to play the game and stop asking to be carried through the raid.

  • Had a guy flip out last night because we didn't have our plate numbers straight on Shiro chi and failed on the first run...I was like dude chill, we had our numbers mixed up, it took all of 5.minutes to get it done on the second run lol...some people are unbelieveable

  • Does anyone have the completion rates for all of the raids?

  • Outside of the raid you can get to 600, so this elitism is going to be there because they want proof you've done the raid. Pathetic? Sure is, I've always helped others in D1 raids, very satisfying to do so when they beat it for the first time. D2 raids have too many mechanics now, most of my clan has shied away from them. It was easy in D1 to pick one or two guys to "quarterback" so to speak certain aspects of the raid which I gladly took on. All of the D2 raids have been very strict on making sure 6 guys are alive to complete. Some want to burn through the raids to clear for the loot. My guess it's how mechanic heavy these raids in D2 are and why people want individuals to prove they have completions. I think Bungie shot themselves in the foot on the raids in D2. You ask most D2 players which raid was best, VoG almost all the time. I'm willing to bet that completions of the D2 raids are much less than D1 raids. At least when you look at my stats that's how it is.

  • Lol I joined a group a couple weeks ago when I was 575 and they were 555 to 565. They asked me If I had finished the raid and I told them only through Morgeth. They told me they were only looking for someone that had done the whole raid- I said good luck and left. I was thinking “You’re 555 you freaking idiot”! If these people actually had brains they would be dangerous.

  • You had to know it was coming. It’s going to suck for people that have life outside of Destiny. I wanted to get to 570 before attempting the Raid so I wouldn’t be a drag on a team. I’m still not there because my clan fell apart so there are several things I don’t even bother doing each week. My RNG sucks and Dreaming City and Prime Engram drops always give me a primary or heavy weapon when I really need some armor. I don’t have time to sit around and grind and grind. I used to raid on all 3 characters every week in D1. I had plenty of completions and could always get in a group and complete it. D2 raids are horrible. I haven’t enjoyed them. I haven’t even completed an SoS and don’t fee like I’m missing much with the overly mechanical aspect of it. The raids were the best part of D1 and what added replayability to me. How did Bungie mess them up so base between D1 and D2!

    • I agree the elitism is out of hand but asking for 570-580+ or a completion is not unreasonable. Either u contribute in knowledge or in dps. In all the previous raids I only asked that u be decently close to max light and shut up and listen. 10 completions is stupid. I got refused the other day n I'm 595 lol

    • So I can see your point and I feel your frustration. I see what others are talking about wanting to not get in trap runs where others die so much and cause too many problems that they constantly cause wipes. To me that's understandable. What really really isn't and why I really agree with OP is that people post WAYYYY beyond what is necessary. if Someone is 560+ or heck 555+ that person is geared for raid and there is absolutely 0 reason why they shouldn't be able to complete or run with someone. It's been in absolutely every MMO i have ever played that people very stupidly ask for credentials way beyond necessary for what reason? There is only one reason they want things to be easy for them. My advice if you are that high in light level learn to carry not just play 24/7 and not improve in skill at all and just ask for others to be able to 1 shot everything with you. I get it its faster allows you to farm faster but just STOP lol. Even when I hit max very soon I'm not going to be asking for 595+ for Normal Story Vanguard strike lol Which I've seen its getting absolutely ridiculous and I understand 100% why OP posted regardless of his current state.

      • I let anyone that's 550+ in my raid team up until riven because I need 580's to cheese it. Am i a cancer? Maybe I'm not sure. I just don't want to do riven legit because the mechanics are not fun.

        • Elitists and lazy people looking for carries are two different things. Really, the wimps are pretending to be elitists to cover up that they just want other people to do it for them.

          • The raid is a big time commitment, some people who already put in the time and effort to be ready played it a bunch feel they are entitled to play with other like minded players, that’s not elitism it’s convenience. Now if they said 590 and must have ghallahorn that’s another story.

                • Which LFG are you going to? I'd say if anything the "elitist" posts appear maybe... one in ten. Also, if you've been doing this since VoG, you'd do well to remember that this kind of behavior has always been a thing, and is a total nonissue.

                  • The raid itself engenders elitism. Can't blame players for wanting the best outcome.

I haven’t completed the raid yet I’m 570 light get very little time to complete the raid fully unless I find an amazing team, which isn’t possible as I have 0 completions. I have accepted the fact I more than likely won’t do the raid unless a get a decent calm team that don’t have too many requirements. I have watched several videos and I do get the first chest each week solo. So far got the pulse the sniper chest and rocket launcher

                    • 580+ on the last two encounters, right? anything lower would hinder the probability of success, right? i dont know....

                    • Heres the way I see it. Raids are highly complex and require comunication (compared to strikes which a 4 year old can figure out). The formation of a group via lfg allows each member the security of know that any member of their fireteam is educated on the raid or at least teachable and have a mic. Additionally, you can determine the light level of each member. The benefit to this is being able to complete the raid quickly. Nobody wants to spend hours on the first encounter. Matchmaking is almost garanteed to give you members with no mics and no skill with random light levels (think competitive matchmaking for crucible). Additionally, these people will have no time comitment and will most likely leave on the 4th failure. The benefit here is the quick match up time, with a 1% rate of completion. If you want to learn the raid for the first time, make an lfg for people who want to run it blind. If you cant find an lfg that doesnt want low lightlevels. Make your own lfg for low light levels, there are plenty of people just like you who want to raid at 570>light level. Understand that nobody wants to waste their time getting these multiple hour events done (unless you are a sherpa, God bless you). So the eliteism you see is just people who want to get on with it and get it right the first time. Not everyone has multiple hours to mess up raid encounters.
ok where the hate at, bring it

nothing here but the next one has something important

*giraffe noise*
• Make your own team, set your own requirements. Everybody is free to do so. Or are you like sooo many lfg users, that just wanna jump in to a almost fully formed team and gets frustrated over the fact that every post you screen is to much of an effort for You?

                      • I've raided Leviathan including Prestige quite a few times, SoS only once since I didn't like those damn orbs everywhere. Anyway, haven't raided Last Wish yet, but watched Datto's video. The only thing which still confuses me is the Antumbra Penumbra Vault stuff, but most other stuff is clear. So when I'm finally LFGing or LFMing myself, I'll be honest about my experience, and if LFMing I'd request that you either watched videos as well or at least read about every encounter. Just going in there with 0 knowledge, expecting others to explain it to you from scratch is something I don't appreciate. I've had people in Leviathan who had a general idea what to do and some who had no clue. Guess who understood stuff easier most of the time? Yeah the ones with basic knowledge. I don't think this is elitism. Just common sense. As others said, "know what to do", "have experience" is a justified thing. I'm not a fan of "have X completions to join" though.

                      • To a degree, I understand both those posts, and your post. I can't count how many times someone has joined one of my raids with no earthly idea what to do. It takes less than 10 seconds to google and find a video explaining any given raid or raid layer, and they literally make some of those videos "for dummies." It's not my job, or my fireteam's job, to walk some random through it. Unless we're doing a guided game and signed up for that. There are also plenty of "going for a fresh run" raid posts out there, for people who might not have completions. Clans are also making a (small) comeback in regards to raids, especially the active ones. Personally, my clan runs through at least a couple raids a week. But there will always be that toxicity in raids, it's been there since D1. You're signing on to spend a few hours with 5 other people, things are almost guaranteed to get heated at least once.

                      • it's like this for any game. I get your point, but in that case, make your own group. I still haven't completed last wish and I'm not in a rush. Keep in mind, some people only have limited time in a week to do a raid so they want to get in and out and not necessarily sherpa everyone.
