TTK and Age of Triumph.
-
Edited by Kone19ps: 3/17/2018 8:39:00 PMMost people will probably say HOW but I was not much of a fan. Skolas is my favorite boss but the implementation of prison of elders was a shitshow. I liked the final updates of ttk and age of triumph the most. Ttk needs to be divided up I think that’s why it’s winning
-
House of Wolves was the best PvP and weapons era but overall, Age of Triumph was the best because all the raids were made relevant again and Bungie had fixed a lot of the issues players previously had.
-
I liked HoW and the Age of Triumph
-
My favored times of the game: 1. House of Wolves. Delicious Invective sprees in the Prison, and Last Word sprees in the Crucible. 2. Immediately post-TTK. Sunbreaker brought Titans off their knees, and made them the terror of the Crucible. 3. April Update. Chroma armor, PoE returns, as do those neat Fallen guns. And it was free. 4. Age of Triumph (PvE only). Elemental primaries, relevant raids, and a golden age for my clan. The darker times of the game: 1. December after TTK. Sunbreaker and high-impact pulse rifles were overnerfed and therefore ruined, didn't recover for over a year. 2. Valentines Day 2017 onward (PvP only). The day Crucible became a frustrating nightmare, thanks to the special ammo nerf. I never did better in PvP, and I never had LESS fun doing it.

It was best anytime before the last update.
-
I agree the TTK was a step in the right direction. However it will never be my favourite time because Bungie decided to "Lagacy" VoG and CE keeping them underlight. Also during this time there was no WotM. Hence AoT was when D1 was at it's greatest imo.
-
For content, AoT. We raided a lot, and the updated VoG and CE were a blast with the added challenge modes. (I hear PvP was shit though. Sidearms as the meta must have been quite anticlimactic. Sidearms, a tacked-on weapon type that is way stronger than is plausible, and that would probably not exist were it not for No Land Beyond and Bungie randomly picking this lame community request.) But, and it's going to sound crazy or masochistic, I preferred the TTK period infusion system (75% to 80% of infused item light, minimum +4). I liked having to commit to weapon and armor choices. It made it so that even just patrolling, you kept finding stuff that would always help you advance some piece of gear you were working on. And even though I did not raid for a long time after TTK launched, I liked that you had to do the raid to advance beyond 300. That's how it should be. And anyway, being 320 was useless unless you raided, so it's not like being <300 was a real problem for anybody but the envious. Early TTK was for me the period where the grind was just right and the progression meaningful.

2 RepliesTTK were the glory days. I was happy with Vanilla as well though.
-
1 ReplyI was in at beta and launch. Vanilla had its issues . I quite during that time came around for the dlcs but finally got hooked during the taken king . Age of Triumph was awesome as well . I think the taken king was finally the complete package . Vanilla did one thing great the chase , the raid chase and grind to get max light.
-
Probably when Staten was showing the supercut to activision. I should imagine that was the best version of destiny and we'll never see it.
-
How through ttk.
-
I’m going to go with AoT. Had so many weekly raids happening with my friends.
-
1 ReplyAoT, no question
-
2 RepliesAOT, it's not even a question

1 ReplyEdited by JoEwillkillu91: 3/15/2018 11:29:54 PMAge of triumph. All raids available with challenges and ornaments. Loved that Kings Fall warlock helmet.

2 RepliesI came in on July of 2016, and I really enjoyed the game. I regret not being part of Year 2 for very long and grabbing most those vendor weapons. :'( Year 3 vendor weapons disappointed me when I first saw them. I was bummed.
-
1 ReplyHouse of wolves was awesome in hindsight. The shotgun/handcannon cluster fuck that was the crucible, weapon rerolling(I know), Variks, lord of wolves(my favorite exotic), and the story was meh which is was better than the stuff we got before.

1 ReplyAge of Triumph started in March, I’m pretty sure. It was without a doubt the best era of D2. All content was relevant with rewards you wanted to grind for.
-
1 Replya better time? when i stopped using my step-brother's copy, and bought my own
-
2 RepliesThrough dark below. HoW is when the downhill trajectory started
-
1 ReplyVanilla for me. It was incredibly frustrating and epic at the same time. Bungie was really on to something...
-
2 RepliesTwo weeks before HoW farmed chests with my brothers on Venus good times...

1 ReplyEdited by ken31cayman: 3/16/2018 3:38:49 AMUp to and including HoW. After that weapons starting degrading and the continual nerfs eventually killed the game for me.

1 ReplyEdited by THA_3rd_GUY: 3/16/2018 3:47:37 AMHOW. It introduced so much, like a mission that took place inside a Raid, a new Social Space, three new vendors, new endgame PvE and PvP content, a challenging endgame boss, and a way to make everything in the game useable regardless when you got it. The meta for PvP was also pretty balanced with Hawkmoon, Last Word, and Thorn reigning, but also followed closely by Red Death, Mida Multi Tool, Bad Juju, and Vex Mythoclast.
