Just as the title says. After everything that the community went through during D1 and it's lifespan, to have to do the exact same thing a second time around, to an even worse extent, is ridiculous.
This company has made money hand over fist by selling a subpar and incomplete experience. It was the 2nd highest selling game last year, and microtransactions are through the roof (activision made 7 BILLION dollars last year, 4 billion which came from microtransactions).
When microtransactions were introduced the community was promised a steady stream of content, and what did the community receive? Time gated content locked behind more transactions.
Given the repeated pattern and how all the main important changes are going to be locked behind this fall expansion, the expansion needs to be free. You're in a terrible spot right now, and it's time for you to give something back to this community that has supported you through these mistakes and scandals.
I for one will not be buying the fall expansion, not even if it sold for $20. I'm willing to bet there are a lot more people like me too. Take a risk, do the right thing. You'll still make your money after all.

3 RepliesEdited by TheShadow-cali: 3/4/2018 4:10:54 PM
The Fall Update Needs to be Free
Free? LoL You will never see an expansion free from this company. Everything you stated is the reason why. Bungie knows that there is a hell of a lot of gullible gamers. I mean, just the timer in nightfall is proof of that. It's called, let's play a game with the player base. Replace one timer for another creating an illusion by adding an emblem and the gullible ones won't know the difference. This is how bright a lot of gamers that play games today actually are. While other AAA gaming companies are putting out updates, actually trying to fix their issues with the game. Bungie is over here lying their butt off and still using the broken system from 2001 trying to get by and passing off all these false statements about what was going to take place with D2. Until they actually invest in building a new engine, invest in dedicated servers etc... this game will always have major issues and this company will continue to lie to their player base. Being cheap doesn't work these days and replacing 1 or 2 gaskets on an old carburetor will only get you by for so long. In this case, the carburetor has reached its lifespan.

Yeah... yeah, that's not going to happen. Good try, though.
-
Haha, I bet $cumgie/craptivision is busy debating whether to charge $60-$80 for as little content as possible.
-
Oh, my God .This is the most dumb post on this forum.Everyone who read it dulled.

2 RepliesI honestly wish they would scrap any further updates. Let this game be what it is and work on something better and release it in late 2019. Give yourselves nearly 2 years to make a game that's worth the time and effort. There is no fixing this game. A lot of the things people are asking for will never come around. There will be no unique rolls, no real endgame content or worthwhile raids. They made a game for casuals and that's all it will ever be. They left the real Destiny gamers behind and wont be coming back for you with D2. Some people love this game and that's fine, but the majority want what we can never have. It's time to start over.

If you’re unhappy with a company’s product, don’t purchase any more of their product. End of story. Don’t go looking for handouts.
-
Ah, yes. This makes sense. Bungie needed to add Eververse to make more money, so let's take away their other main source of income so they have to push Eververse even more.

15 RepliesEdited by gallp13: 3/4/2018 1:50:18 PMNo it doesn’t. They build it they deserve to be paid for it. Don’t like it or don’t want it, don’t buy it. If you feel you bought a product that didn’t deliver on you expectations, you have the right to make a case with Consumer affairs. It warranted you will be refunded. There is no such thing as a free lunch.
-
I hate you and your game so much I want it for FREE!!! Or I’ll hold my breath till I die! Right. Whatever.

destiny 2 launched with a full 60$ of content. it just wasnt a very repeatable 60 and it was in a much better state than d1 at launch. you were not ripped off. not even slightly. to demand free content like its owed to you is ridiculous and embarrassing. this whole community is ridiculous and embarrassing. just a bunch of whiners that say they're leaving the game but stay on the forums for some reason.
-
I laugh at the jaded raged of this community. It is truly amazing that any of these folks dare call themselves guardians.

None of the content coming out anytime soon, paid or not, will bring me back to the game. There is a list of major changes that need to be made before it will be playable again for me. Bungie is not even mentioning most of the changes needed in their plans for the future. I have not played since a couple of weeks before the first expansion came out. I won't pay for an expansion that is just more of the same watered down over simplified boring content that the original game was. I spent a lot of hours playing Destiny 1 and thought it was a great game. I spent relatively very little time playing D2 and think in its current state that it is not a good game to say the least. It is sad to think of the high hopes I had that D2 would be an upgraded improved version of D1 only to find out it is a watered down oversimplified version of D1.

1 ReplyIt's not going to happen. People thinking this next update or DLC or fall expansion is going to bring the masses back are delusional. Destiny 2 has sealed it's own destiny. Anyone that has been here since the beginning that continues to support this company and franchise are part of a community I don't want to be a part of. Hands down the biggest regret I have in my years of playing games is ever getting into this franchise. Signing off for the last time.

Totally agree. Bungie sucks.
-
The game should have been free considering the way worked into the game.
-
Maybe it should be, but it won’t. Companies and Corporations don’t like giving away a product for free and we’ve all been told repeatedly just how difficult and expensive game development is. With Bungie being forced to cut back on Eververse only loot, Bungie probably can’t afford to make decent content and then give it away for nothing.
Bungie I want to play your game but I don't want to pay for it
Seriously bro, move on. You sound like a whiny ex.
-
if it's an update, it will be free... don't you mean expansion?
-
Do you mean the expansion, cause the sandbox tuning and update is free
-
3 RepliesIn the words of Sgt. Hulka, "Lighten up, Francis." Seriously, if you don't want to pay if the expansion costs then don't buy it.
-
While I disagree with the premise, the absolute greatest “show don’t tell” way to regain the goodwill of the community would be to make a major content release free. Gratis. No charge. A game developer should make money hand over fist, but if it was through deceptive practice and exploitation of the trust of the customer base as a whole, then a loss of goodwill is expected. Bungie has absolutely abused their customer base with D2 at almost every decision it has made. The ONLY way I’d consider reinvesting in D2 (as I’ve already invested elsewhere), would be if a MAJOR release of content was at no charge and restored most of what was lost with D1. To clarify, I bought the season pass and will not be returning with expansion 2. I never thought I’d say anything like that.
-
2 RepliesIf they want people to play the game at all... at least a reasonable number, like the rebuilt Division then it’s got to be free (and actually good). People have long memories and if they maintain he current path the population will remain very low :(
-
Its not as crazy as it sounds, but unlikely noting the contractual obligations Bungie probably have in place with Activision. If free dlc meant they gave season pass holders the following dlc for free, and the chance that literally millions of players returned, it could improve both the next dlcs sales (after the free one) considerably and the player/dlc purchase ratio. Destiny works when there is shit to do and its populated, and i think although itd be a gamble, itd definitely expose more customers to future transactions that simply arent prepared to pay for that privilege, as things stand. The games price is super low, and it dropped fast. That has hurt revenue. Eververse PR hitting the mainstream has also hit revenue. Surely even the silliest shareholder/investor could see itd be sensible to take a punt to expose 6-8 million people back into the game with new stuff and a free relaunch, than try and get a million (if your lucky) to buy future dlcs and micros til the game dies? One key area i tihnk it fails unfort is this. Bungie would need some awesome shit to do in the dlc and have everything fully implemented, and noting the problems with designing content on the engine they use, I just dont think thats possible in the timescale. Id like to be wrong. If Bungie decided to try and cater to everyone, then they needed to delay the game until the product did that, now it just seems to be a mixed niche of casual players and im pretty sure that isnt enough money to keep the people doing the numbers happy. If they got the content it seems a must do tbh from a financial point of view, if they have faith in their product
-
3 RepliesMaking it free would be a slap in the face of everyone who got the season pass. It will also make them no money, which wouldn't please daddy Blizzard/Activision. They shouldn't make it free. They should make it worth being called an expansion.

Edited by sonny2dap: 3/5/2018 8:58:55 AMMy prediction is it will not be free, and around E3 time you will see the marketing machine move into gear and D2 will have a kind of soft re-launch in the fall.
