Like, have you ever thought about it? Why are we fighting them? They are like the most sympathetic enemies in destiny. I remember reading a grimore card that talked about how fallen babies were dying because they didn't have enough ether. And where could the Fallen get more ether? The traveler. We've been inadvertently starving Fallen babies.
Besides the whole baby murdering thing, the Fallen were visited by the traveler. The traveler must have seen something in them. When they attacked the city, the Fallen weren't trying to exterminate us. They were trying to get the traveler back so they could feed themselves.
I think the past 400 or so years of war has been one big misunderstanding. There was even this npc I heard at the tower ask why don't we make peace with the fallen. Why don't we? They're probably the only race we've seen that we could possibly make peace with.
Just think about it. The city gets salvage and tech the Fallen bring in, and the Fallen get a home and ether. And we both have one more ally and one less enemy. It's a win win. And maybe down the road we could have fallen guardians. Just a thought.

2 RepliesJust £2 a month we can feed a starving fallen baby for two weeks

14 RepliesI feel like the Fallen have always been set up as an enemy with the intention of them eventually becoming an ally. Showing Fallen allied with the Reef Awoken as early as the vanilla D1 story, not to mention the grimoire story of Cayde teaming up with a Fallen. Unfortunately Bungie don't seem to know what they're doing given the only Fallen you can actually side with is during a mission on Titan. If i'd written the storyline our lightless Guardian would have run into a small group of Fallen on the way to the shard being ambushed by Cabal. Taking down the Cabal begins an uneasy alliance negotiated by Ghost, offering the group protection and shelter in exchange for assistance getting to the shard. The awakening of the Traveller at the end cements the human/fallen alliance with groups of Fallen becoming Guardians.

7 RepliesEdited by TheArtist: 1/5/2018 10:03:36 PMY'all down here...... Seriously. The Fallen are just that....Fallen. They may have been touched by the Light of the Traveller, but they---as a species and a culture---have FALLEN from "grace'. They could have come here to our system, and sought peace....and worked to share The Traveller's Gifts with Humanity. Did they? No. They came here. Trying to strip our system of anything useful, kill any one who got in the way.....and take The Traveller by force of war. What happened when the Awoken Queen tried to make peace with the House of Wolves, and live as one of their Kells? The first bat-shit crazy Eliksni that happens by (Skolas) talking shit? ...and they're back to murdering humans. Can we possibly make peace with the Eliksni? Yes. But that won't happen until there is a MAJOR paradigm shift away from what they became after The Whirlwind. Only Variks seems to "get this"....but I wouldn't trust Variks any further than I could kick him. With a running start.
-
I'd love to not have to kill Eliksni every where I go. One thing you can add is that reclaiming our world will a heck of a lot easier if the Eliksni aren't trying to kill us. (As the guardian in my minds eye) I've got a place in old America, a decent sized spread on the east of a town, the fallen moved into the area shortly after I did. Their leader is a Baron who's name I can't pronounce, the Eliksni with him aren't many, barely a ketch worth but he only has five skiffs of fighting Eliksni three of which are out gathering what resources the can while the other two patrol their camp. The Baron has made it perfectly clear that he and his people won't fight anyone but he will defend his people to the end. Apart from the almost dayly random grenade and small (inconsequential) items disappearing then reappearing somewhere else, their a generally peaceful and un-intrusive group of Eliksni. I haven't sworn to protect them but anyone who attacks them has earned my ire and what ever my wrath manafest it's as.
-
The real question here is "Why are we still fighting the Cabal?" The Cabal should be our allies now that Calus deemed us as his champions; and the remaining Red Legion troops flocked to his army.
-
8 RepliesThe Traveler chose to leave the Eliksni, making them the Fallen. This wasn't our (humans) fault but the Fallen attacked us, anyhow. The Traveler chooses who gets to use the light and it decided the Eliksni were no longer worthy so their attacks on humans were unwarranted and we defended ourselves.

-
The Fallen don't know how to share. I'm sure what is left of humanity would be willing to take on a new ally but only if the Eliksni get down from their high space horse.

Edited by KayOsS882: 1/8/2018 4:06:50 PMBecause bungie wants you unlock new races through bright engrams.

2 RepliesThe problem is communication in the species. Variks was the only fallen that could speak to both an he is presumed dead
-
We're fighting them because they continue to attack us. Humanity didn't start this conflict with the Darkness. According to every record we have we're the victims in this situation. It's not like it's impossible to have some sort of accords with the Fallen; Cayde is an excellent example of that in his interaction with the Fallen Captain. But they're attacking us. Post-Six Fronts, it's not really relevant what they want, they're killing humans. Until they stop there's no reason for us to stop fighting either. Yeah, they're sympathetic. But we aren't amassing massive armies in an attempt to eradicate them.
-
Well the traveler ditched them for us, then he wiped there memories so they don’t know why they are here on earth. But the know the traveler is hated and their enemy.
-
they are invaders, kill em all.... metallica starts up

9 RepliesThey tried to kill me so I killed them back.

I would agree but after reading the grimoire, they have 0 interest in working with us.They are simply savages who take what they want and kill if they can't have it, they cut off the arms of their own species ffs. They might grow back but still that's -blam!-ed. But out of all the races, those and the cabal seem to be the only ones who could be reasoned with. But the idea of a fallen guardian is awesome.
-
They're dirty nasty aliens. Why else?
-
Those Fallen in the Ishtar Sink on Venus...story is they raided the Prison of Elders in the Reef. Got an Archon Priest. The Queen's bounty is high so we know it's powerful. We need to hunt this thing down before they fully restore its soul." - Cayde-6

I think that the issue is that we are forgetting that we are reanimated space zombies. I know that we act like humans, but to the fallen, we look as monstrous as they look to us. Addressing your point about ether, ever noticed how we both worship sentient spherical machine gods? Which the fallen now use for ether production? I don’t think this is a coincidence. The servitors are like little travelers, and they seem to have god-like abilities. These could be like fallen ghosts, machines that feed them, heal them, help them. Maybe the fallen went through a similar experience during their collapse, a period like in D1 were the Traveler was running or dormant, but left behind machines to help them. We never see any story about Servitors being built, unlike with Vex who we know are built by the collective mind, and the Calus bot was obviously built in the little reward area. Servitors may be the link between Fallen and Humans.

2 RepliesThey talked smack about Shaxx’s Mom.

2 RepliesWe are allies with Variks yes?
less fighting more f*cking yes? 😏
-
As far as I can remember, they're also the only race we've cone close to collaborating with. In one of the D2 story missions where a knight and captain are fighting, kill the knight and the captain gives you the item in return. Kill the captain and you then have to kill the knight and just take it.
-
We kill them because they are spooky space aliens with spooky guns so our totally normal ghost dude told us to shoot them all up...
-
I just try to avoid fallen Once I solo a night fall helping the fallen. If you stand behind them and shoot over them they won't turn to you until everything else is dead. It was quite helpful.

2 RepliesYeah... We should be forming an alliance. Just like we should have done with the cabal. They were peaceful over there on Mars. And then we attacked them.
