Think about how much it would add to the loot system of Destiny 2 if there were armor set bonuses. It would give us something to keep playing... trying to collect all the sets. Or even just the final piece of one set. It would make the gear feel worth grinding for again.
There is so much loot in the game and yet none of it is exciting to get. I think set bonuses would go a long way towards fixing that.
Edit: Another thought to add here that might help with the concerns of everyone wearing the same gear or having to use ugly gear, is the bonuses could be tiered, like in that other game... So you get a bonus at 2, 3 and 4 pieces for example. This would give you the ability to use combinations of sets, although you'd sacrifice the top tier bonuses.

The division did that right

3 RepliesWell if you put on the full set of armor and class item that the guy on mercury sells then you get an emblem which varies depending on what class you play on.
-
Would much rather have some exotics that can be used at the same time. There was at least one in D1, but can't remember what it was. A full exotic set would be awesome.

Edited by GrundleBeans: 12/14/2017 7:12:35 PMI thought they had said armor sets would have bonuses months before D2 released, but apparently they either didn't say that or scrapped that idea for some reason. I hope they do add it though. Do you think that might introduce an issue with people wanting to wear set X but only set Y has the bonus they want? And as you said in your edit, would people really be okay with not getting tier 4 bonuses because they don't want to wear one particular piece of armor? What kind of bonuses do people actually want?
-
Except for the Kairos Function stuff. I don't want to look like the Sand People. I thought the greaves were cool until my wife pointed out I'm wearing running shoes. Well, they DO increase mobility, I suppose...

Edited by Ragehardt: 12/14/2017 2:14:02 PMGreat suggestion. Other than grinding for armour sets that are aesthetically pleasing (I’m looking at you my beautiful Warlock Gensym Knight armour) there doesn’t seem to be any other reason to work towards getting a full armour set. Perhaps a Masterwork armour buff that is only accessible by wearing 4/5 of the same armour set (to allow for an exotic)? Also I would want that option to apply to all currently owned armour sets; I don’t want to have to grind for my beloved Gensym all over again. Edit: Typos and grammar.

Nice one, make it happen.
-
There isn't even any decent bonuses on gear period in this game.
-
Been asking for that since Destiny was first announced.
-
i would settle for just being able to re roll the archetype of armors. Like changing a mobility piece of armor into a resilience or restorative piece of armor. some of the better looking pieces to me have the stats i use the least.

4 RepliesWhat i would love to see return to this game. 1) Strike based loot 2)random rolls for armor/weapons 3)Arms Day 4) Release better dlc. The Curse of Osiris was shit and this company has the talent to release good dlc. Just take a look at the taken king dlc need i say more. 5)Let people chose which pvp game types they want to play.

1 ReplyEdited by ThamJam: 12/13/2017 12:31:40 PM4 piece set bonus: super ability recharges faster 4 piece set bonus: equip two energy weapons 4 piece set bonus: spawn a dreg ally with you (30 second cooldown if dreg dies) 4 piece set bonus: carry two grenades 4 piece set bonus: 20% chance you’ll recover health after a kill 4 piece set bonus: supers do more damage but recharge is slower Honestly thou exotics can act like a set bonus imo. So having set bonuses is just more grind. They can add crazy perks but choose to add dull ones for exotics.

12 RepliesEdited by HuSeYiN_NYC: 12/12/2017 2:51:00 PMI dont think u put much thought into this. Like many others who replied, your proposal will only make us look more the same and a good chance that we don't like the look of full set armor in D2 anyway... Titan imo is the only one who can look cool in any full set but either way, why would I wanna wear a full set of gear if I don't like the look of it? For the bonuses? Answer is, I wouldn't. Simpler "fix" is the old way. Random "perks" (not stats) on armor pieces.
-
1 Replybut then everyone would end up wearing the same armor
-
Bump..
-
Good idea, been said before I'm sure but I'm happy for someone to keep the idea fresh in the minds of the devs...well if they ever read this.
-
2 RepliesThat would be fun but that would encourage less use of exotics Maybe a bonus for 4 pieces so you can have an exotic?
-
The only good thing to come out of the division.. it would fit perfect with destiny
-
If there was like a perk to make the game fun, then sure!
-
This would be good with transmogification, you know bungie would put the best perks on the ugliest set of armour. Then again 90% of the armour is awful.
-
I think this is a great idea stated in a constructive, not bitchy way. Upvote.

1 ReplyI actually don't care for set bonuses since I prefer to mix and match armor for both asthetic and mod purposes. I really don't want to be shoehorned into wearing an ugly set of armor just for extra perks. Plus, you can't use exotics such as Orpheus Rigs, Karnstein armlets, Mask of the quiet one, etc.

"We can't do that. The casual players who login in twice a month will have a tougher time getting the complete set. We would have to increase the drop rates. The grinders would have everything within hours/days and the casual guys would still be put out. So, NADA on the armor bonuses. Keep buying Bright Engrams though.....Cheers." -- Bungie

Heck yeah!
-
This was supposed to be a thing in D1, I kind of remember some goon talking about having the ability to have full armour bonuses, which you could choose, but could not be changed afterwards.

Needs to happen. But make all new gear when it’s done so there won’t be a controversy about content being taken away. If it’s gear that wasn’t there at launch then there shouldn’t be any crying about having it taken away.
