They're heavy weapons, not secondary. I'm not saying it hard to kill with them, but why use one when you can use a shotgun or rocket launcher (free kills). And unlike sniper rifles, they have a charge time.
Sniper rifles and linear fusion rifles are in the wrong slot for pvp. Both should be able to 1 hit kill because of the slot they are in, but both are held back by Bungie.
With that said, it is easier to kill with a fast rate of fire sniper over a linear fusion rifle. Bungie needs to make changes to both of these weapon type so that they feel like heavy weapons in pvp.
"Git Good," you say. I'm certain you failed your English class. You can't even begin to formulate a decent argument. I know the weapon is a 1 hit to the head. That's not the argument being made.

Ok, this is ridiculous. Just try to go into 1 round with a sniper, and see how many bodyshots u can hit. Somebody like u might even get a KDA of 1. ;)

It's not often I find someone trying SO HARD to sound so smart about being so bad at a video game. LMAO.

I think it's fair, if it was a body ohko there would be no reason to use a shotgun since their range is so poor. Consider how every hand cannon is more powerful than every scout rifle yet always has less effective range and ammo capacity. They are simply two different weapon types that do two different jobs and have different stats to reflect this. Likewise, each heavy fills a specific role be it AOE, range, etc. The close quarters environment of crucible is just not very conducive for the long range weapons when compared with the likes of swords, launchers, and shotguns since most experienced fireteams tend to bunch together. While it's too bad that they're practically unusable in pvp, making them more powerful will only make them unbalanced.

Because Bungie wants PVP kill time to be about 8 seconds... It’s why day to day PVP numbers are about half what they were for D1. But Bungie doesn’t seem eager to fix this shitshow.
-
Because they should never have been in the heavy slot!
-
6 RepliesYou could always get good. But ya they are still in the wrong slot. Oh wait, everything is
-
5 RepliesThey do with a headshot, a ohk body would break the weapon and cause many cries for nerf.
-
5 RepliesHave you tried headshots?
-
Pvp has caused so much trouble it’s unreal everything gets nerfed because of Pvp
-
They would be op.

3 RepliesThey're a sniper rifle that's usable like a scout rifle. They did the same with queen breakers bow. Real question is why is the ammo so gods damned low. And can we please just call them line rifles? Yes. Like the vex line rifles. Why? What do you think linear means? Hell. If you remove the barrel shroud they even look like gods damned line rifles. Really all powered weapons except rocket launchers need a larger ammo in reserve capacity, except thumpers, which need to go from explosive damage to area of effect damage or status effects. Blinding gas like hunter smoke bombs that do dot. Flash bangs. Pulse or vortex effects, so on. Grenade launchers, aka thumpers, need to be the solution to slow grenade charge rate.

Why isn't there some sort of explosion on impact? I can't tell if its hitting anything sometimes.
-
2 RepliesMY QUESTION IS WHY DO SNIPER RIFLES HAVE RETICLE SWAY. THEY HAD NO RETICLE SAW IN D1 AND WERE AVAILABLE MORE OFTEN. NOW THAT THEY ARE AVAILABLE ONCE A YEAR THEY HAVE RETICLE SWAY????? SERIOUSLY WHAT IS UP WITH THAT
-
Because who wants fun in a video game? -every bungie employee ever.
-
1 ReplyThey have short zooms High aim assist And one shot on headshots Their charge time is also exceptionally low. If you don't understand why these aren't one body shot weapons then I don't know what to tell you. You can get one of the high Impact sniper Rifles. Low skilled snipers use those to soften you up for their buddies cause they cant hit a head to save their lives.
-
They do OHK.

2 RepliesEdited by Brusilnik: 12/4/2017 10:16:48 PMYou can't look at it like a linear fusion vs a sniper rifle, you have to look at fusion vs linear fusion rifle. Additionally, you can compare them both to pellet shotguns vs slug shotguns in order to get a better understanding. Pellet shotguns and fusion rifles both will kill with one shot (multiple pellets) if you hit with most/all of your pellets/bolts. The difference being range and charge time, the shotgun having no charge time but very little range compared to fusion rifles. Slug shotguns, when compared with pellet shotguns have a huge range advantage, but require a precision hit and only fire a single slug. Similar to linear fusion rifles which have a huge range advantage over fusions and shotguns alike, but also require a prison hit and only fire a single "bolt". That being said, if you want to compare linear fusions to sniper rifles, you have an aim assist advantage and a low zoom/ high peripheral vision advantage going to the linear, though the charge time requires you to track your target more. And the flinch... oh boy, the flinch... They both suffer in this regard. Just my 2 cents, hope this isn't too long, I'm just bored on my lunch break. Oh, and linear fusions don't have reticle sway. Thanks virgin mobile for reminding me! Edited - thanks V Lexaeus V

6 RepliesBecause Bungie fckd up removing the special weapon category. They're still in denial right now but give them time. It's hard to admit you were wrong.
-
Edited by ramthesocket: 12/4/2017 5:11:27 PMThey never have done Get one with target acquisition, headshots happen frequently
-
Both can one shot with a head shot. And the linear fusion is in theory stronger than fusion. Fusion fires 4 bolts, linear shoots one. I don’t think one fusion bolt can kill to the head with a regular fusion rifle
-
1 ReplyThey absolutely should. Just like sleeper simulant from D1.
-
Well it makes sense considering how long their range is. If they could one-shot people regarless of where you hit them there would be no reason to use regular fusion rifles. They're also different from snipers because they don't have scopes that make it difficult to aim.
-
Well everything in that slot does one shot, provided you use it effectively. As for linear fusions, having the sniper like ones isn't a bad thing. However they should have heavier versions of it that are like sleeper simulant. Assuming it isn't coming back.
-
I agree I remember hitting someone upper chess high and only did have damage. It stupid if you have to charge the gun then it should one hit kill them from the upper body.
-
Because if you could one-shot-body people the game would be one call of duty. The skill required prevents the safety and ammo supply from being OP. And the reason that Linear Fusions are on par with snipers is that they have a good bit more aim assist (especially man o’war) and barely any zoom.
-
This isn't call of duty, snipers shouldn't one shot body shot, we learned this lesson before.
