so basically, i turned on the discord overlay, which didn't even work in D2, to see what people were sending me instead of having to alt tab, and i get banned. So for a convince players get banned? Can someone at bungie help us the players, instead of saying "bans are permanent and we will not discuss about bans or restrictions". Can we actually get some support and help?

also, unless an "overlay" is called something different in your terms of use, or "ban reasons" there is no direct mention of their use, and if you are going to claim an overlay from LEGAL AND LEGITIMATE COMPANIES are graphical hacks, you have to be kidding me. This is on you bungie for not thinking of PC players ability to actually have more then 1 application open at once, not like console.

ACTUALLY you know what, there is a direct mention of the Discord overlay, and you want to know something, ALL IT SAYS IS IT WILL BE INCOMPATIBLE, BUT MAKES NO MENTION OF A BAN FOR USING THE DISCORD OVERLAY, SO BUNGIE SUPPORT START DOING YOUR JOB AND HELP US OUT
*edit 3.0*
If there isn't a reply from bungie stating they will fix their screw up, I am going to refund and restart on another account because I don't feel like loosing out on money because someone half assed the ToS, ban reason, and game coding. I advise others who have been stupidly banned to do the same

17 RepliesEdited by Kell of Kellogs: 10/25/2017 6:35:46 PMIn Destiny there are account restriction and bans. Restrictions are only temporary but must be waiting out while bans are permanent. Please note that Bungie will not discuss or overturn account restrictions or bans. You can find more information in Bungie’s Account Restriction and Banning Policies
The following is true: -Destiny 2 cannot automatically ban you, only Bungie can ban a player after a manual investigation -Yesterday, we banned approximately 400 players on PC -Bans were applied to players who were using tools that pose a threat to the shared ecosystem of the game -We did not (and will not) issue any bans for the use of overlays or performance tools, including Discord, Xsplit, OBS, RTSS, etc. -Information on using third-party applications can be found here: https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/46101 -We are overturning 4 of the bans that were issued during the PC Beta
https://www.bungie.net/en/News/Article/46426

getting banned is a game issue not a PC Support issue

8 RepliesEdited by ADragonWithin: 10/25/2017 10:55:53 AMYou're a bit incorrect that the banning policy doesn't cover overlays and the like. Sadly, overlays work as they do not by that program simply posting something to your screen, but it modifies the memory of whatever you're overlaying into. Discord is actually inserting its own graphical code into that of Destiny's, and thus it's modifying the software as it's running. So, knowing that, please read the following and take note of the bolded areas:
... Player Behavior that can lead to Account Bans or Restrictions Bungie regards some behavior to be in breach of the license agreement that governs Destiny, and therefore potentially subject to access restrictions or bans. This behavior includes, but is not limited to: Connecting to the Destiny game service with any of the following: Modified game software Modified game assets Modified hardware Modified console firmware Using an external program to modify the operation of the Destiny game software, such as: Trainers, mods, cheats, aimbots, or autofire. User mode or kernel debuggers Graphics hacks ...
So, yes, it's plainly bannable, and the reason it's bannable is because that say way that Discord injects code is also how hackers and the like inject code such as for aimbotting, hitbox detection, etc. It sucks, but it is what it is. I do, however, agree that their anti-cheat system really needs an overhaul if it can't tell the difference between a discord chat overlay, an fps counter, and an attempt at aimbotting. I really hope you all can get this fixed and Bungie comes around to actually helping, but until they do, you'll be stuck banned, and it's even worse for PC players since your license is tied to a single account and no other account can use it; you can't just create another account to bypass the ban like console players can.

14 Repliesget it refunded and DONT SUPPORT their game anymore. All players need to stand up against bungie for their arrogance and ignorance.

Truth: https://youtu.be/alv-jkx-1xg Hello, I'm a day one vanilla Destiny player. I've put up with shit for 3 years. I kept hoping that Bungie would learn from their mistakes and that they'd take this wisdom into developing D2. They've lied to console players for 3 years and now they've started off lying to PC players day one. -blam!- it. I don't care if I get banned. Ban me for telling the truth, Bungie. I -blam!-ing dare you.

5 RepliesEdited by Signex 89: 10/25/2017 7:28:57 PMSorry but i don't believe this, they just posted an official statement that they don't ban people for using overlays or apps like msi afterburner. I used afterburner overlay while playing yesterday(ofc it didn't work, but it was still running). And i never got banned...
-
5 RepliesWhy are overlays banned in the first place? I have to play in fullscreen because windows 10 is crap with window mode, too much input delay. So if I want to google something... i have to alt tab and wait, where as normally I could open steam overlay and use the steam browser. too many stupid rules, now im too afraid to play cause everyones getting banned -_-
-
2 RepliesPoint of Information: Legality of a program/tool/overlay is mostly irrelevant. Bungie is a private company and can disallow you to use certain programs while running their software. Whether this is right or wrong is based on what the purpose of that application or program is, the context of its use, and the effect it has on other players vis-a-vis you and your PC.

Wow this is pretty shady. I can already see they are trying to gimp us for whatever reason. I have my discord on a different monitor, which allows me, in windowed full-screen mode, to easily use Discord while I play Destiny.

get your money back while you still can, i would

4 RepliesBest thing they could do right now from what I understand is unban everyone while also changing it to logging you out of the game and or not allowing a log in while running "incompatible" programs. As others are saying not everyone knows the rules, and even then they are not entirely clear as they should be. Plus the consequences are a bit overboard. It really sucks, I get that they want to maintain the integrity of multiplayer. Unfortunately it gets a bit too intolerant for the slightest of things. Communication is key in this situation, and I hope they right what is wrong here.
-
These bans are bullshit and bungie knows it. There has to be a better way to implement an anti-cheat that doesn't block stuff that is totally legal in pretty much every other game.
