I scrolled through the comments, do we really them to strengthen SBMM?
I would way rather get trounced by studs than deal with the lag issues.

No one wants increased SBMM except for casuals who are not willing to take the time to get better. More casuals played in year 1, when the SBMM was very minimal, and yet much less complained, because they actually paid attention and learned things from the people who beat them.
