Bungie Weekly Update 12/04/2014:
"In the months to come, your quest to become more powerful will have more avenues that lead to satisfaction. The last thing we wanted was for you to look at your favorite gun or helmet and decide that it had become obsolete. Since the reveal, we’ve read a lot of ideas for how this could have been done better. Your feedback is clear: The time you have invested in your stuff should be respected."

Well, another great lie from Bungle exposed.
Here in December 2014, bungie goes out of their way to clarify that "100% of your progress will carry over into the sequel".
Better yet, remember when deej said the year 1 guardians will be showing off their emblems to the year 10 guardians?
Hahaha nope.
Feel bad for those who wasted real world money on imaginary items from the eververse, that they can't take into destiny 2? I don't. Typical bungle screwing over the most devoted customers, again, and again.
What makes me mad is the 70+ vault of glass raids I put in to get the praetorian foil. Or how I worked so hard to collect all the raid arbor and weapons, only for it all to be for nothing.
-blam!- you bungie.
You've totally broken trust with your customers and wasted our time.
Why the hell should we put time into destiny 2, when we can't bring our hard work into destiny 3?
-blam!- you. I'm done.

Also this isn't for nothing, it was enjoyable to do. That's why you collected all of that. If not, then maybe you should go play a different game.

Edited by Fareo: 3/5/2017 5:48:36 PM"Why should you waste your time on Mass Effect 1, 2 and 3, when nothing transfers over to Andromeda?" It's a new game. The old engine was holding them back from meeting our expectations for content. It's not that they want to screw you over, it's that it won't be a simple addition to the existing game. This isn't going to be another Taken King, we may not even have shaders, hawksaw archetype pulse rifles, or side arms, who knows? Everything is going to be different and new. Honestly, with as stale as destiny 1 has become... I'm all for this wipe.

With all due respect, while i understand what ur saying, how many other sequel games have ever let you carry over ANYTHING from a previous game? I personally cannot think of one game. I just want them to undo all the shit they did to break this game completely, haha i totally agree with you in year one raid items thiugh... some of the coolest stuff, yet never upgraded it to be able to use it beyond year one
-
4 RepliesThen don't play the game. I'm all for stuff not carrying over. A fresh start would be awesome.
-
-
6 RepliesOur gear from year one never came up You haven't batted an eye What did you expect I do not want D2 to turn into this hell hole Start fresh If it sucks it sucks but let them try with something new
-
3 RepliesEdited by Thyy Savage: 3/5/2017 1:37:48 PMYeah, let's just carry over all the shit people complain about
-
I find this pretty funny. You have 2 sides. And both sides argue like jack rabbits about who's right. Should it be a fresh start, or should it carry stuff over. And like common sense says, well this game is pretty -blam!-ed and needs a restart. So that makes sense. But bungie also did say that they were planning on a 10 year franchise and hinted that your character could travel the whole thing. Which is pretty cool. And since they're not doing that, people have a reason to be kind of upset or feel taken advatage of. So both sides are correct.

Get over it
-
2 RepliesEveryone's so freaking butthurt. Get over it. Learn how to leave stuff being like you do in literally every other game. They shoulda done it sooner to teach everyone what's to come. Learn how to use and play with new things. Stop getting stale by using the same thing everywhere. Gosh when will people learn.
-
I think when the new game comes out I'm going to buy $60 worth of silver and have my bank cancel the charge. Lie to them like they lied to us
-
6 RepliesEdited by FireHead: 3/4/2017 8:48:42 PMThings change. How do people not realize that?
-
-
Bungie has open acknowledged violation of this promise numerous times. We all have experienced this firsthand through content update after content update. The tone of this weekly update implied more of the same - this is what is happening regardless of what you have been told
-
the problem is that no one can tell the future. not even bungie, I bet they would have liked for everyone to keep everything. but things change. the platform might not of allowed for the player base to move their items forward. I would have loved to have everything move forward, but that's the way things go sometimes, that's life, need to learn to move on. besides, its just a game.
-
I get why you're upset, but stuff changes. Things said by anyone are never set in stone. Maybe Bungie was forced to change it or maybe they wanted it to be changed. Besides, take diablo for example, no one really wanted their stuff to carry over to 2, get over it, this isn't any different.
-
Edited by dnrobs: 3/5/2017 3:36:53 PMYou won't need the gear, you can transmog your gear to look like anything. Maybe you can transmog stuff in d1 style only if you collected it. Then destiny 1 will still be running and you can go back to collect stuff for d2 if your missing a piece or two.
-
All I hear is a bunch of no responsibility having kids whining about why they wasted so much of their LIVES on this game when they told us out right that guns and armour were NOT meant to be collected and that's why expansion in your vault came very slow. So why all this whining about starting order in Destiny year 3? Because you guys glaring at screens too long and be virtual elite assholes with no real life skills are made that your only life resides in a virtual realm. Too bad you guys can't get laid in there to so then you wouldn't be complaining about the real world mistakes your going to make as well.

4 RepliesEdited by Gu1TaRpuNk41: 3/5/2017 2:45:26 PMIt will all come with us. Eververse 2.0 will have a "Good Ole Days Package" it will cost 10,000 silver dust 2.0, and reward you with 1 item from your Destiny 1 vault. It will "randomly" be selected (this includes ether seeds, black wax, etc...). There is also no guarantee that you will not get duplicates. That being said, we must keep grinding(and saving our pennies)!
-
Edited by gregoryw3: 3/5/2017 3:31:51 PMIt's a video game, they end. Did your Bo2 weapons come to Bo3 nope (like progression, yes bo3 did have some bo2 guns and bo1 guns but...), did your fallout 3 guns carry over to fallout 4, nope. Did your blank 1 carry over to blank 2, no. It's a video game, deal with it. Edit: Borderlands 1 guns did not carry over to Borderlands 2 and Borderlands 2 guns did not carry over to Borderlands The pre-sequel.

9 RepliesThings change, decisions get made and companies change their minds. Nobody promised you anything. What you're quoting are interviews not a legit deal or EULA paragraphs. If Bungie said "After the release of a sequel all copies of Destiny 1 will be made unavailable to players who own them. We are shuting all Destiny servers down." then I'd be with you 100%. This. This sounds like a "You problem" not a "We problem". I've been playing this game for two years and I've got a vault full of memories. But hey, it's time to move on. I'm mature enough to understand that.
-
1 ReplyEdited by AntharPrime: 3/5/2017 2:16:08 PMThe only way that Bungie will ever take notice is that all of those who are dissatisfied with their decision just don't buy Destiny 2 and stop playing Destiny now. Otherwise they will do what they always have done.
-
Do you expect your hard work in any other game to carry over to their sequels?
-
1 ReplyYep, they waited to make this announcement until after they monetized Destiny as much as they could through DLCs and Eververse. They could have clarified what "carrying progress forward" meant much sooner, but this would have led to even more players leaving the game. Smart financial decision by Bungie.

1 ReplyEdited by HRH FURY: 3/5/2017 9:48:08 AMThe real problem is... It shouldn't be "ok" for a corporation to be unethical. If they make a commitment to deliver something to their paying customers then they should, period. This is the problem that we have today that is rampant ...NO ETHICAL CAPITALISM... "Greed is God", "Doing the right thing" is dying. It has corrupted everything from simple products like this; to the politicians that make decisions that run the world. What bothers me most is that we as a people have just accepted it as the "norm" like you are seeing with people on these forums. It's just an "in your face FU" that we are all to happy to thank them for, because we either lack ETHICS ourselves or COURAGE to stand up to it. For this reason alone, no matter how great D1 has been or how great D2 will be, I will no longer be a Bungie or Activision customer, because the "grind" or "regrind" didn't bother me... it is a matter of Ethics. Sad Times
