Well, another great lie from Bungle exposed.
Here in December 2014, bungie goes out of their way to clarify that "100% of your progress will carry over into the sequel".
Better yet, remember when deej said the year 1 guardians will be showing off their emblems to the year 10 guardians?
Hahaha nope.
Feel bad for those who wasted real world money on imaginary items from the eververse, that they can't take into destiny 2? I don't. Typical bungle screwing over the most devoted customers, again, and again.
What makes me mad is the 70+ vault of glass raids I put in to get the praetorian foil. Or how I worked so hard to collect all the raid arbor and weapons, only for it all to be for nothing.

Why the hell should we put time into destiny 2, when we can't bring our hard work into destiny 3?

Look, I remember when they first said this. Sure it's disappointing, but I understand why our items cant come with us. Everything would have to be re-rendered with the new engine, but the biggest problem is that they'd have to balance around all of the destiny 1 things that can easily define the game. With DOT from thorn, they always have to take that into account, making balance difficult. DOT in PVP in almost any game has been a problem, and bungie has recognized that. However, they cant change thorn here enough to fix it. It would require a fundamental change in the weapon that they can't do. Elemental primaries also exist, so they have to account for them, even if they are rather useless due to the low light level now. They have penned themselves in with some previous choices and they can't get out without a wipe. That's why they're doing it.

But what did you all say?? "Activision, Activision, Activision" So let me guess? In about a week's time you're going to blame Activision for this? You deserved to get screwed. Personally? Mainly mistaking fun for balance. None the less, reading posts like yours and the like really presses down on the dumb button.

23 RepliesAn honest question I pose to everyone here: When was the last time you used your Year One gear? Last time you used most of your Year Two gear? Because I honestly can't think of the last time I stepped into the Vault of Glass, Crota's End, or even really King's Fall for that matter. Except for those few times where a few friends and I decided to mess around. So why should Bungie keep on supporting old gear, when we aren't even using it 90% of the time?

97 RepliesEdited by ash: 3/4/2017 11:04:17 AMI took this update to imply that Destiny 2 is going to be quite, quite different from Destiny 1, to the point where the new gameplay systems simply won't work with the old content, gear or weapons. That is a double-edged sword IMO since it ends the continuity, and means progression can't carry over =[, but it also means the next game is totally free to start from scratch and try totally new things. So it's not simply a large content expansion, but a truly [i]new[/i] game. If that's the case, I'm interested to see what they have in store and whether the game will drastically change. With how the original game was received at launch, I think that's an understandable decision since they've probably learned a lot of tough lessons about what direction Destiny should go in... Lessons they didn't realise they'd have to learn back in 2014. TL;DR: I completely understand the frustration of not having that continuity between the two games, but I'm also pretty excited to see something totally different and a fresh start for Destiny. I do hope they have things in Destiny 2 that recognise your achievements in Destiny 1 though. [spoiler]PS In case the "Ninja" tag is confusing, I'm just a fellow fan of the game (from the UK), and I don't have any more knowledge than you guys.[/spoiler]

I've invested thousands of hours in the game too. Resetting everything is the best decision bungie has made since buffing shotguns in pve.

There's no confirmation that destiny 3 will adopt the same system. And furthermore, it is said that the dropping of old gear is for the purpose of REWORKING THE GEAR SYSTEM. Lastly, that's from almost three years ago, the development of a game and how it progresses is always subject to change.

[b][i]GET THE -blam!- OVER IT[/i]!!![/b] The article [b][u]DOES NOT[/u][/b] say that gear/stats will carry over, just you character. IGN interpreted it as such. If you don't like it, you still have the disk to Destiny 1 and you have the simple option to not buy Destiny 2 - you can be done with the franchise.

4 RepliesThat was two years ago, quite obviously things have changed. And until there's confirmation I'm holding onto hope that cosmetic kiosks will carry into Destiny 2, they haven't specifically mentioned them and it's only an implication that it won't. Is it really that big a deal that you'll have to relevel subclasses, charactets, and get new gear? No, not really. You keep your characters, you're just starting from the beginning. I've got so much useless crap in the vault I can't bring myself to delete so a fresh start would be great. Not to mention doing it this way still lets people play Destiny without being forced to upgrade. Kind of like when they cut last gen consoles.

28 RepliesUnfortunately, people will argue against you so fiercely, they fail to see Bungie's lies and outright unreliability. Regardless if this is 3 yrs old and "things change." How does that excuse what Bungie is doing? They say one thing, yet do another without even addressing it. How would we feel about politicians saying "ill change health care" "ill lower taxes" "ill increase wages while reducing cost of living" "ill create more jobs" then a few years later nothing changes or it becomes the complete opposite? "Things change." If we cannot rely on Bungie's word, why should we count on Destiny 2 being any better than Destiny 1? I for one have absolutely no expectations for Destiny 2. I do not believe Bungie or Activision will do anything different. I do not believe that they won't produce a cash grab technique. I have no faith in Bungie, and I despise Activision. All of this happened, simply because Bungie cannot keep their promises.

3 RepliesSeems like some people think we should just get DLC's for ten years. I mean what franchise that's existed over a long period of time has allowed you to keep your characters loadout asthetics and progress? In Far Cry, Uncharted, Metal Gear etc you put tons of time to building up characters and weaponry and all sorts of other crap that's never carried over to the next one. Bungie isn't your girlfriend. All this "they lied to me" shit you need to get over. I don't wanna be using the same weapons and armor and shit for ten years, on the same maps, against the same enemies because some people equate progress in a game with progress in life. Nobody looks at your stupid emblems and shaders and goes "Oh my God! That guy must be amazing! I bet he has huge Cabals!" Only you do.
