Advice requested from a mod/tech from Bungie:
His kid upgraded to a PS4 slim + Destiny the Collection (was on PS3 before).
Each time he goes to the tower, the console crashes and turns off.
They uninstalled the game and reinstalled it but that didn't improve.
The other games work as intended.
Any idea?

1 ReplyEdited by Venkman300: 7/30/2017 6:53:14 PMI was suffering the same issue with my PS4 slim, I go to the Tower and the system shuts down. I tried some of the suggestions posted here with no results and I was not interested in returning the PS4 for an exchange as I don't feel the unit is entirely at fault. After some experimentation this has worked: As soon as you arrive at the Tower, wait about a minute or two. Do not move or do anything, better yet put the controller down. After the delay, the system stays stable, no shutdown occurs.

This really needs to be fixed, i'm now at the point where i can't even walk in the tower....

From what I am reading (your post and comments) it sounds like it is an error with the PS4 slim and destiny. If other media (games, movies, music) can not replicate the problem; then the PS4 is fine. If that is the case; Bungie will need to put out a stability patch for the PS4 slim's software configuration. I wish that I could be of more help, but I do not work for either Bungie or Sony.

3 RepliesI am having the same problem since upgrading from original PS4 to PS4 slim a few days ago. I have tried clearing the cache, starting in safe mode and rebuilding the database (essentially defragging PS4 hard drive), and have the PS4 plugged directly into the wall outlet. None of these resolved the issue. It is definitely not a power issue because all my other games run fine and do not crash. I am able to access other areas in Destiny (such as Crucible and the Reef) without it crashing. The problem is solely limited to visiting the Tower. I go in and after 10-20 seconds the PS4 shuts off as though it had been unplugged. I am extremely frustrated and cannot find much information on the issue.

I've had a similar issue and made a separate thread about it but I'll copy and paste it here in case someone from Bungie takes notice of this thread. Sorry that you're having issues too. I recently upgraded from Legacy console to PS4 over Black Friday sale and picked up new Slim edition. Over the past couple of weeks I've noticed that my system was crashing and shutting off. I first thought this was a random occurrence but I've noticed that each time it happens to me it's right after I turn in a Crucible or Vanguard rank up package and proceed to walk back up the steps. In fact, it's happened so frequently at this point I'm fairly confident in saying that it's something with Destiny and not the system. I contacted Sony initially who directed me to Rebuild the Database, which I've done several times to no effect. The game crashing continues to occur and it only does it at this point. Is it perhaps related somehow to The Dawning event and the December update? Or is there some other bug with new consoles that I haven't heard about? Please advise.

Hello there! I had experienced the same issue a couple of weeks ago. My wife and I had purchased a new PS4 slim from Wal-Mart on Black Friday. A week later we were experiencing this issue. Every time we went to the tower, the PS4 just crashed. Well, stupidly, I had thrown away the box, so we couldn't exchange it for a different PS4, so I had to call Sony. After some trouble shooting, they determined that the system itself had an issue (and apparently, they have dealt with similar issues before). They sent us a box, we sent them the PS4 (free of charge thanks to the warranty), and about a week and a half later, we had it back. We found out that they just sent us a different system, but the point is that everything is working correctly now. So chances are that you have a faulty PS4. Try exchanging it from where you purchased it, or call Sony and explain everything to them in as much detail as possible.

Does this person own a pair of wireless turtle beach headphones that have a box that plugs in via USB? I had issues with my old turtle beach headset drawing too much power from my ps4 causing all kinds of issues. Moment I stopped using them, ps4 worked fine. As others mentioned, sounds like a possible power issue. Could even be the power cable itself that is to blame. I'd try ensuring nothing is plugged into the USBs of the console if there has been, try a new power cord or try it in a different socket.

8 RepliesHey there, Can you please try clearing your Cache? https://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/12539 Then reload Destiny and see how it turns out. :^)

5 RepliesWhen you say the ps4 "shuts down", does it lose power suddenly as if the power cord was pulled?
