Primary Weapon With Elemental Damage

Dear Bungie, With the release of [i]The Dawning[/i], we received two new exotic weapons, the [armory]Nova Mortis[/armory] and the [armory]Abbadon[/armory]. Two variations of the [armory]Thunderlord[/armory] with Void and Solar damage respectively. I just recently got Nova Mortis and I love it! I've always had a soft spot for Void damage, despite being a Gunslinger. However, with the release of these two weapons, I have been thinking. Why them? Firstly, I'm not complaining about anything. We've heard about the possibility of the "Voidlord" and "Firelord" for some time now. Despite Thunderlord, Nova Mortis, and Abbadon being such great weapons, I can only ask why you-- Bungie-- chose them to do different elemental types. There are other, more beneficial mind you, choices out there. When [i]The Taken King[/i] launched last year, there were no more primary weapons with elemental damage. The only weapons that did were outdated raid weapons from the Vault of Glass and Crota's End. After them, not another weapon was made. Except for one; the [armory]Zhalo Supercell[/armory]. This was an awesome idea in my opinion! An exotic primary weapon that had elemental damage. Unfortunately, it was only limited to arc damage. Bungie, please let us get variations of the Zhalo Supercell that deal Void and Solar damage. The Grimoire Card for Zhalo Supercell states that the Guardian that built this used random scraps from around the Cosmodrome while trying to survive. So, why not give us a quest where we have to search the Plaguelands or other planets for power sources to power these new weapons? This will fill the Void left by the lack of raid primary weapons with no elemental damage. I believe the fact that they take up exotic slots balance it out since there are other weapons people might prefer to use, like: the Gjallarhorn, Nova Mortis, Ice Breaker, and many other good weapons. Thank you, Paradox1055

The point of games has always been to have fun. At some point if you make the game to hard people will stop buying your title. I just quit COD after years because of that and other gameplay stupid decisions. Raids are always difficult and you should be rewarded otherwise what's the damn point of playing? For someone who has suffered the incredible difficulty of Raids several times over, I think it is fair to receive a weapon that would make it "more fun to play". If not then I'll go to a different title period.

  • Exotic Primary weapons should have been the only primary weapons in the game to have Elemental burns on them from the begining! Tlaloc should 100% be a Void Scout Bad Ju Ju Void Red Death Solar Mida Arc etc etc etc!

    • They had them and removed them. Which was a solution to a problem that did not exist. Probably the most bone headed decision in the history of the game.

      • I'm just going to say that I don't understand why one would need an elemental primary. Not want, but need. There aren't that many crazy shields even in the nightfalls, and you have secondary and heavy for that. Anything that's shielded probably needs a special weapon or a heavy attack to be dealt with. For the rest, you have your subclass abilities. To be honest, I don't see people use their grenades often enough. Supers, yes, but not grenades (or melees, for that matter, though you don't want to run and punch in a nightfall). Personally, although I use my Zhalo when it applies to the activity, I am kind of am opposed to any elemental primaries. They would make burn pointless. Any burn on a heroic, you're basically using your primary through the whole thing, I mean, what is the point? If they do add elemental primaries, I would prefer they get rid of the burn mechanic then. I think the other thing that could keep things fresh, since I am pretty tired of strikes, is to make a heroic story play list with the same kinds of modifiers. Maybe even a nightfall story mission for the week. You could add a chance to win an exotic upon completion given that you're not always going to be facing a boss.

        • The year 1 trials primaries from the lighthouse had burns, as well as the primaries from skolas. So last week when it was arc burn, we would've had 12 options for arc primaries: Fatebringer Fang of Ir Yurt Oversoul Edict The one from VoG that wasn't fatebringer 4 PoE primaries 4 Trials primaries Now we have 1.

They should just make items like ornaments that can be applied to a weapon that changes its element or adds a element, these items should drop from nightfalls.

            • Taking away elemental primaries was an excuse to make the grind longer. Nothing else. They said it was for variety. Let's break that down. I'm an alpha player so been around. Year one and two had Elemental primaries available from raids and trials. I played many raids and grinded to get my favs and when I did I loved them. I switched them up each week depending on the burn and I felt powerful. So I used them all. Now with their variety attitude ...... I use hung jury that I bought from the vendor and with their stupid light system these days I don't switch anything up. Bring back forever 29 with elemental primaries it was WAY more fun. Or remove the enemy shields.

Or the better option, make a 300 light version of VOG and Crota's End with the elemental primaries, restore the Lighthouse's elemental primaries, and add elements to the Kingsfall and WoM raid primaries.

                • I retract my like/thumbs up based on the topic after I read your comment. While I wouldn't object to what you proposed, its merely a bandaid for the overall problem which is that people LIKED elemental primaries, and they are no longer in the game. The solution Bungie should adopt, which they SHOULD HAVE ADOPTED when TTK launched, is elemental cores which drop from raid bosses which can be infused into any kinetic damage weapon. This would allow any kinetic primary weapon to have an elemental burn. It also provides an endgame-level-worthy prize and an incentive to repeatedly run the endgame content (raids) because people will want more than just one of reach elemental core. A secondary solution is to only have elemental primary weapons drop from the raid, like they did in Y1, but, upon dismantling the gun, you had the chance to obtain an elemental core from that gun which matched its burn (example = I dismantle Aetheon Epilogue and I have a chance of receiving an elemental core for void damage). The core can then be inserted into any gun so that it has an elemental burn. In this way, we have raid weapons with inherent burn, but through multiple raid runs, we can obtain the means to add elemental burns to other weapons - by sacrificing a raid weapon we may like. Either of these solutions is ENTIRELY acceptable and makes a ton of sense. IDKY Bungie [Edit] Luke Smith never pulled his head out of Crota's Asshat long enough to think of this solution. It would go a long way with solving one of the game's current problems, which is the increasing irrelevancy of endgame PVE content.

Don't quote me on this but I think they got rid of them to make the game a little more challenging as in nightfall and raids and such. But then they turned nightfall into easy mode by removing the one thing that made it challenging where you get kicked to orbit when the team wipes. The raids on the other hand are really only challenging the first few runs and after that they are a walk in the park. With that being said if they would reimplement elemental primaries tomorrow, they wouldn't really make the game any easier then it already is. But bringing them back now would be kinda pointless so either next dlc, if we get one, or destiny 2.

                  • Unfortunately I doubt they'll ever do this. One major reason for stopping with elemental primaries in the first place was that it ruined diversity. (Which is bullshit.) And all you need to do is look at the most used primary when Arc burn is on to find out why they won't make this change. Because they'll prove once again to the community how hypocritical they are.

Although your suggestion is like a bandaid for a bullet wound, it makes a lot of sense, because even though we all want Elemental Primaries back, having a Solar and Void Exotic based on a pre-existing weapon (just like Ab. & NM) shouldn't take up too much time and resources. With Z.S chaining lightning to near by enemies (stormcaller?), Solar-Cell could use 'firebolts' and Void-Cell could use (weaker) Axion seekers.

If I should bet I would say that next and probably last step in Destiny 1's Life is that the old Raids will come back - and with them at least two elemental primarys. First Crota Raid as Taken Version with at least the Necrochasm as elemental primary, maybe in April... Than PoE in may /june will also come back and last but not least Siva Atheon will bring back the Vex at the end of Destiny 1 Life Circle, maybe july/august (maybe E3 2017 play it now) to fill the gap until no. 2 Launches in September / October. Maybe Vision of Confluence and Fatebringer get a new Version too, cause with Destiny 2 a few months ahead Bungie does not care anymore that we don't have too much fun
