Do they honestly believe that nobody actually checks the location of the people they connect with?
My connections map:

After reading the wonderful info in the TWAB, I was excited to see where my "best connections" really are on the map. The first person added to my match? 3,762mi away from me in Belgium. It took the game approx 2 seconds to determine this was a great connection for me.
I could understand if the game just happened to ping this guy and check his connection to me. No, he hung in there through the 2/12, 5/12, 8/12,... all the way to the end of matchmaking/start of the match. Also note, they decided to add Brazil to the match (4,499mi away from me).
I live in NY, USA and the highest quality connections with me include players 3,762mi and 4,499mi away from me on different continents? CB/SBMM debates aside,... seriously???
Bungie 11/17/16: "Connection quality is always the highest priority factor in Destiny matchmaking"
👍👍
Edit: This wasn't a post crying about having a bad match. I finished the match fine with the aid of some "lag strategies". I posted it to show that everything isn't working the way they tell us, and also to inform them with a visual aid (as if they weren't already aware) that their system isn't working as intended.
In this match I was able to adjust and keep my distance from the few "laggy" players. My bigger concern is, what about the outliers in this match? The Belgian and Brazilian players? Could they "adjust" to 10-11 laggy players? They could have easily been any one of us in a random match. The reality is that I was most likely one of the Belgian players better connections. What was this match like for him, or the Brazilian player?
Im sure there's a much bigger picture to all of this than we can comprehend. Add in a pre-made fireteam spanning the globe and finding a great, crisp, and local match for each of them becomes nearly impossible. I just hate to read something stating "connection quality... highest priority" and then jump into a game as a solo player and find my first "quality connection" match within 2 seconds, is a solo player nearly 4K miles from me on another continent with a ping that was at best 200+ms during the match (at times reaching 400-600).
Many of us really do love this game and would just prefer honesty to what we've been reading lately. I know many people would love to read an update stating "Hey guys, here's the reality... Due to design, logistics, and the code this game was built upon, were at a loss in making noticeable improvements to your experience. Please stay with us as we roll out multiple updates over the next few weeks as we search for something better".
Oh well, whatever... here's to hoping for a fix that works as well as a BS free update.
The way i see it is that, either they have just lied to community or they have a serious bug they can not or don't want to resolve. Can't see how you could consider a connection to people across a hand full of countries is going to better then the local/closer connections.

1 ReplyThat's why I stopped playing crucible. All I do in Destiny now is getting stoned and playing Strikes lel 😂

1 ReplyHonestly, this game is the first one I've played that I had to constantly wonder if what I'm being told was happening really was what was happening. Bugged perks aside, SBMM was introduced during SRL. The community asked what was going on with the increased lag in Crucible and Bungie said that nothing had changed and that the lag was likely due to people in SRL. It took MONTHS for them to admit they lied, whether it was omission, ignorance, or on purpose (depends on who from Bungie is answering since not everyone knew about the change). It's kinda hard to trust them now, especially with Eververse micro-transactions (which were advertised as supporting free updates) creating events centered on more micro-transactions (with little actual content, especially when compared to the amount of content that requires silver during said events). One exception was the April update which was fantastic. TL;DR With communication being so ambiguous and unclear, what can we actually trust?

You've caught them in their lie! GG OP!

5 RepliesThe only way we get them to do something, is by not playing at all
-
3 Repliesnot a surprise. Bungie has been frosting the turds they feed us since day 1. we keep eatin' them
-
That's crazy. I remember when they said they wanted to keep everyone's win/loss around the same but the weekly update they denied it

3 RepliesThey try so hard to protect scrubs. I hope other developers laugh at Bungie.

Anyone else see the ip in the URL? Just saying you should block that

4 RepliesIs BSMM B stands for Bull...
-
Ha. They are gonna shut down this forum before they fix the matchmaking.

16 RepliesEdited by WindierBridge99: 11/18/2016 3:32:41 PMI honestly think what they deem a good connection is not what the general population deems a good connection. There is a portion of the player base that this doesn't effect, but there is definitely a portion of the player based that it does. Routinely matching far away higher ping players at the expense of local lower ping available players happens far too often. It's either a problem in their algo, or a problem in their design of what is deemed an acceptable connection. I shared much more detailed thoughts and the results of some basic tests here: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/218186130?sort=0&page=0 Unfortunately, I don't think Bungie are willing to acknowledge or discuss these issues at all. They pretty much just want to sweep it under the carpet (again). This is the only tweet I've sent Derek Carroll - a harmless tweet right. http://www.screencast.com/t/GQ7fSutDl0g For this he blocked me. I honestly think this demonstrates what the PvP team feel about the community right now - they want us to shut up and move along.

41 RepliesI still don't understand Bungie. The player base wants removal of SBMM. The majority of the player base wants this!!! Like wth! Advanced warfare and black ops 3 I believe had SBMM until it ruined the game and they changed it back. Listen to the people Bungie! Listen to us!

1 ReplyI'm sorry if this is rude, but I'll just leave this related post link here: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/218226417?showBanned=0&path=0

Everyone's been hating on the pvp in the new COD and Titanfall but they seem worlds better than the shit bungie's got going. Considering they're part of Activision they could have asked for so much help on all sides to make up for losing half their high level employees who know their asses from a hole in the ground but never did.

So in two plus years of playing Destiny and reading this forum I see that nothing has changed. Thursday rolls around and DeeJ or Cozmo post their Weekly Update and people flock to the forums voicing their displeasure with what was written. They then head right back to their consoles and play Destiny for about 5 or 6 hours straight and continue that on a daily basis until the next Weekly Update. It's good to know some things never change.

16 RepliesWait, what's your problem? Could it be that the player pool isn't as large as it once was and that indeed was the best option available? Goodness people, take it easy. I cannot believe people are deleting the game over this.
-
Just stop playing pvp. If player population drops enough they'll do something. If everybody keeps hanging out in this shitty broken pvp they'll keep it the same. I vaguely remember Deej saying something like "vote with your controller." Rent titanfall 2 or BF1. Hell if they didn't have boots last IB I would've skipped it. (All my guys just need boots to hit 400. No boot drops after getting 1 guy to 5 and wrapping up bounties on the other 2. Stupid RNGesus.) Outside of raiding with friends on Tuesday nights I'm done with destiny.

So true..... I get a laugh when they post that garbage.....👍🏻👍🏻

14 Replies1. I can't bring my friends along who are not as skilled. They don't like going 5-19 and losing every game BC they are weaker players. 2. The lag is more common among sbmm that it ever was in cbmm 3. Not a single player here wants to sweat every single public match. There is no fun in that. Sweat games are Trials of Osiris, iron banner, and now private matches. I will never understand the opposite mindset. Instead of having to get good at the game bungie just separates all the good and bad players as if you were all a bunch of helpless children. What other fps does this?
-
5 RepliesIf everybody that is frustrated by this just quit the game for a little while they would implement a change. That's what I am doing. I am done with this game until they remove SBMM in its current form and stop manipulating W/L ratios.
-
4 RepliesDrop the player base. Just stop playing. This will speak louder then calling them liars. Which I feel they are, seeing their track record. My bet is that there is an .004 chance they are being honest. But really, just stop playing. Dropping the game in protest will help more then these posts. Real talk. I'LL PLAY BF1 with you. I am on PS4.

1 Replyit is simple you should never be placed with people on another continent ever. its almost 2017 why is that so hard for them to do
-
3 RepliesThey're the ones that perfected matchmaking in halo 3 and Reach. I just can't understand why they dropped everything and went to this

No one else in Belgium or Brazil have destiny so they have to use you to get into matches. Cmon guy take one for the team
