Thorn buff
Dear Bungie, I never used the thorn as a crutch in year one, simply because I never got the bounty to drop. I watched YouTube footage of people getting absolutely destroyed with it. Now, it's year three, and the thorn needs a buff. (I never thought I would ever say that) Thorns whole purpose is to cause DoT to stop the enemy from regenerating health. I have been using it and found that the damage and time that the DoT lasts is horrible! Have it fill the role it was placed into, and buff the DoT by at least one damage point, and make it last at least 2 times as long. Or, make the poison damage stack with each hit, causing one extra damage point every shot, also resetting the poison time(which in this scenario would be the same as now or slightly buffed)
I think this would solve the thorns problems!

depends if they remove or massively alter bloom so Hand cannons are consistent that benefits thorn big time and then a DOT buff doesn't seem so necessary.

1 ReplyI think the DoT needs a small buff and the range across the board on HC's could see a nice boost. Bloom was not a nice addition to the game IMO.

2 RepliesIt can STILL two tap someone if you leave 2 shots left and get both as headshots then it's a two shot.

1 ReplyDoing two damage per tick over at most five seconds doesn't make it worth the exotic slot. Thorn needs to do enough damage over time that, if your opponent runs away after getting shot, you won't have to chase them down only to find they're at full health again after a few seconds. This, the inconsistency of Hawkmoon, the awful range of The Last Word (or was that always there, and I'm just not using it well?), exotic hand cannons in general just aren't worth it. Which is a crying shame, because the ornaments for hand cannons are some of the best of all the ornaments.

3 RepliesThorns burn damage was perfect before the April Nerf. Get the dot back there and thorn will feel good, will feel like a threat but not be overpowered.

I got the year one thorn quest. The only way to complete that quest was to be good enough in pvp that it didn't /matter/ if you had a thorn, you were going to win anyway. As such, I never got the thorn. Hell. I only just finished the quest to get that damned craperone shotgun. Erection of Irony version is easy mode compared to what that was... Just ground it off in one night with a void sidearm and a word of Scrota. So....I guess there are things to be said about it being nerfed since everyone can get it now. That said. Seriously. It could use a buff. At least in pve where it doesn't freaking matter if it's balanced. At least make the DOT Primary + Void based so that when void and small arms stack it will wreck. Every week since Ironic Erection dropped, the heroic list has given us a steady small arms buff. I'm sorry but it's time someone called this for what it is. A weak, cheep excuse to avoid rebalancing primary weapons so they don't feel like frigging pellet guns anymore. Fix primary weapons. They're frigging GUNS!

The reason it's so weak right now is because there's finally going to be a handcannon buff, so they don't want thorn getting too powerful

4 RepliesI used it a few days ago and saw no problems with it. The fire rate is so fast you can melt people with it. Plus it's still a 3 shot kill.

1 Replythe Dot should be buffed isnt that the purpose of a certain artifact to stop damage over time so why not buff, might as well nerf other burns at this rate

1 ReplyI still get 2-3 shot by Thorn. And when i use it, need 7-8 hits. So not balancing weapons is the problem. The real problem is balancing PvP (connections).
