The Iron Gjallarhorn LIE!

For those who haven't heard, or didn't break out the magnifying glass and read all the fine print, don't expect to get on today and use your shiny new Iron Gjallarhorn. You see, you're not really getting the weapon like the thousand of commercials promised. It was all a corporate lie to make you spend your money. You only get the Gjally after you do the quest to get it, the same way as everyone else who didn't preorder it. The "Iron" stuff is only a skin, NOT the full weapon. Maybe I'm making too big of a deal about this, but I'm feeling very lied to right now. I agree the whole "pay real money for an in-game gun" idea was wrong from the start, but that's what they advertised for months. Now everybody gets on hoping to play with it only to figure out there was some small print somewhere that was hiding the truth? Bungie has lost my trust because of this. If I could return this preorder, I really might, just to tell them where to shove this corporate bullsh!t. This is some cheap move a company like EA would pull, I thought Bungie was above this. Edit: It's been a while since I've been on the forums, so maybe this was discussed and well known beforehand, but if you're going to be blind and not see the bullsh!t Bungie is trying to pull here, you're being ignorant. Maybe people who still play the game daily knew this, but for us millions of people who quit, this wasn't made common knowledge. This was a marketing scheme, a lie, and I'm not a Bungie homer who's gonna just say it's OK because it was in the fine print. Guess it just amazes me that so many people are used to this kind of crap from Bungie that they're OK with it... Edit 2: For those of you saying they discussed this on streams or on other forum posts, that is only addressing a small percentage of their audience. This obviously a marketing scheme aimed at people like me who haven't been paying attention to the game and all the details. Hiding the truth in the fine print should not be ok, and it saddens me to see many of you defend Bungie for this. Yes, this was my error for trusting what they said in the commercials, for trusting Bungie. I thought this was a company that wouldn't resort to this low level of trickery in order to get players back, guess I was wrong. I just don't think that yelling lies in your commercials is justified with small print. Edit 3: Do all of you work for insurance companies? Hiding the truth in fine print while deceiving your audience with false claims is not something that should be ok. When Comcast or AT&T pull this, everybody hates on them, so why is it ok for Bungie to do this? This was an intentionally deceptive campaign meant to trick people into buying this game. Whether or not you fell for it isn't the point, the point is that Bungie should be above this kind of crap and shouldn't have tried to lie to get players back.

    • Comparing an insurance company to a video game company? Yikes. Most of us adults know about fine print. Sorry this is your first run in with fine print. You live, and you learn. Welcome to business 101. Take a seat.

        • Even if it was a separate gun, it'd still be essentially a skin. Same perks and everything.

        • No disrespect intended bro, but it's kinda like saying~ 1. This Kool-Aid pack is sugar free, so now I have to add the sugar myself from the cabinet?! Why didn't they make that more clear? I shouldn't have to read the packet where it says "Sugar Free", because that print is small, which had to have been intentional to trick me. I mean, I already did my part driving to the store, parking and walking in and stuff. I even walked up and got in line after I had to not only choose which one to get amongst that large choice selection, but actually, manually take it from the shelf, with no help from employees at all! 2. That car I used to drive myself to the store was a stick shift, and nobody even told me it was not an automatic when I chose it off the lot! I was tricked by marketing, the sign above it said "AUTOmobiles" & the salesman was "Matt" and the first thing he said was "I see you like this car." "I SEE"-IC! AUTO-MAT(t)-IC?!! Trickeryism! No bro, it's on the consumer to assume your $ is valued and the time spent, however so, valuable enough to you, that when spending it, you use whatever level of discretion and attention that you deem necessary on what you buy. If attention to detail is less afterwards, you either need to remember to be more reluctant to purchase something until you are completely satisfied with letting your $ go, or be satisfied with decision to get what you get when you get it. Both of these are your personal choice and right, but you will be better off coming to choosing how you complete transactions and living with it, rather than paying so much attention to things after you choices are made from a lack of attention. Just sayin... You'll get that Gally. Don't worry, you paid for it...

        • Dude you didn't pay any more money. Preordering did not cost more. Stop crying and enjoy the game. Playing the game is the whole point of spending money. If you did not intend to play the game and just spent 30 to get free stuff then I feel sorry for you.

          • If you expected the preorder to give you the fully functional Gjallarhorn, you are a moron of MONOLITHIC proportions.

          • Let me put it another way to show you weren't lied to. At the end of the quest, you get the Iron Gjallahorn and Gjallawing. The ad promised that you'd get them. By getting the Iron Gjallahorn and Gjallawing through the quest, the ad lived up to its promise that you'd get it. The ad never said how you'd get it. The ad NEVER said you'd automatically get it. You merely assumed you'd automatically get it and are now trying to blame Bungie for YOUR mistake. You could have watched the streams. You could have read online news and recaps of the streams. You didn't. It's your fault for not researching your product. But hey, if it's any solace, you're technically getting the additional stuff for free. The people who buy RoI now will have to pay the same amount of money and not get the Iron Gjallahorn.

          • So to sum up OP's post: "I don't like the idea of buying weapons." "WTF! I can't buy a weapon! F U Bungo!" Man I can't wait for the raid so I can hear you complain about matchmaking instead.

            • I didn't read the small print and I knew you'd need to do the quest to get it. You get the iron gjallarhorn which is a better reward than ttks pre order bonus.

                • Are you stupid? You could of at any time googled how to get the iron gally. It was never in fine print, it was out there on the internet clearly for anyone to see. And in the commercials they never specified exactly how to get the Iron Gally, they just said the pre-orders would get it.
