I've been wondering this for a long time but why are Exos memory wiped clean? Is there a valid reason?? Answer please.

1 ReplyYou were all sex robots but then war came so we reprogrammed you

Do you really want to recall all of the horrible things that rasputin sent you out to do before the collapse?
-
You try carrying centuries of experiences in your head.

When you've seen as many snake bite videos as Banshee has then it's easier to forget.

1 ReplyEdited by NaakAlor: 7/6/2016 11:55:40 AMThere are three reasons an exo is created. 1. A human wishes to live longer and so has their consciousness implanted into an exo body. 2. Their original purpose was as a means of war upon contact with the Vex. 3. A human dies and has their consciousness implanted into an exo if a loved one so wishes, despite the victim not making the decision. The third option occurred between the once human Cayde-6 and his partner. (Regrettably I forget her name, though she worked on Venus) Cayde was a guardian yet died on Pluto, so his partner had his consciousness put into an exo. As for the memory wipes, I believe it is something along the lines of trauma from the procedure and/or confusing past life memories with newer ones. We can witness Banshee-44 as a heavy sufferer of this condition, as he frequently ponders on how many times his memory has been wiped among other forgetful lines.

2 RepliesEdited by KannibalKlown: 7/6/2016 4:39:40 AMI tend to believe malicious intent That one grimoire had an exo trying to remember. His memories got progressively darker and then the last couple limes could be interpreted multiple ways Either he was panicking and wanted his ghost to Rez him Or His ghost was refusing to Rez him because he learned too much Just my theory anyway. My guess is they were involved with the fall, or with the attack on the traveler. Or just did some sketchy stuff

Because they brain-sharted

Edited by AiriQ: 7/6/2016 12:49:17 AMWhy do non-Exo guardians snot eem to remember anything about their prior life after we are resurrected at the start of the game? After HoW, it seems like us as a character in the game has been lost completely.

Because they're programmed by bungie, and the keep receiving cattle/weasel/cloudberry you -blam!-ing name it errors.

It has to do with them becoming human, remembering who they were, how they died. A safety protocol that kicks in whenever they start to become whole again. So they go to forget.

They are wiped to avoid a terminator sequel.

Basicly their heads get full much like a computes hard drive. While noone exactly knows what's happens the process that runs does not exactly wipe the slate clean and is more akin to a defragging. Where the data is shuffled about to make more room. It's also likely none useful memory's are removed during this process which can account for the loss of context old memory's have for exos which is where thier memory confusion comes in.

Because they had memory of Luke and leia being born!
