If warlocks created blink, how did the hunters get the ability to use it too? And wouldn't blink be something all warlock subclasses should have or was it only the void walkers who created it?

Edited by TrolleyProblem: 6/16/2016 4:48:34 AMThere are two ways to blink. The voidwalker blink: a guardian who understands the void to an extent as much as a voidwalker can is not bound by the laws of space or time. Thus, when we blink, we pull ourselves to another dimension of reality for a short time, and return ourselves to the original dimension we stand on in a different position. Thus, blinking The stormcaller blink: stormcallers and their ways are very very ancient. The teachings were lost an eternity ago; with last known stormcaller being wen jie. However, with a threat such as oryx entering our systems, some were brave enough to reobtain this mantle. Through the passage of becoming conduits of arc energy; they learned how to safely dissociate, and then re-ionize their very being in different positions. Thus blinking. At some point, a very long time ago, the hunters were taught how to blink similar to that of stormcallers. However it was much too dangerous for most hunters to consistently attempt it in the stormcaller tradition. They did not understand the storm well enough. And they dare not attempt the voidwalker's blink. They can barely begin to understand the void, and many are afraid of it. So, they utilized the information the original stormcallers gave them to fabricate a new form of blinking: The bladedancer blink: by moving so fast, and utilizing arc energy as a catalyst; they blink. It is less of blinking as much of it is just moving so fast no naked eye can track you... but still None the less: yes, they did learn from the warlocks.

6 RepliesSo being as hunters saw warlocks blink and learned how to replicate that action, does that mean...... Hunters can learn shoulder charge? For example hunters learn abilities or skills to adapt and create an edge when engaging enemies. Being they are the scouts of the wild and need to be able to survive. Just a thought... Would laugh so fracking hard if it became so.

5 RepliesHunters stole it from Warlocks. That's what pretty much every Hunter ability is.
-
Warlocks taught hunters how to blink.

1 ReplyWarlocks figured out how to to it. Voidwalkers can do it probably because it is the subclass that deals the most with space magic. Hunters learned from the warlocks, but it is unclear whether they were taught or learned just by watching us. Titans have too much armor to blink. This is one of the main explanations to why they can't blink.

8 RepliesEdited by Cayde Seven: 6/14/2016 11:13:40 PMThe Vex, being much older than Guardians, are the first to have been confirmed to have the ability to blink. This is from two Grimoire cards, Ghost Fragment: Cabal 3 and XXXIX: open your eye: go into it
A Vex Minotaur blinks up behind the Phalanx line. Crota’s gate began to emit warrior Vex, huge and brassy. He leapt forward to fight them, but they blinked away.
The first, from Cabal 3, happened within the timeline of our game. The second, though, predates our timeline. The Traveler may have the ability to blink as well... From Ghost Fragment: The Traveler
You have lived as invisibly as possible, flicking from solar system to solar system, making grand plans, overseeing the culturing of civilizations, before leaving in a blink.
This could mean "in the blink of an eye," and just using a colloquialism but not meaning the ability blink itself...but, taken as written without speculating that it is an abbreviated colloquialism, the Traveler is able to leave "in a blink." As for Guardians: The Warlock Boots Nemesis Plane (II, IV) flavor text states:
"We learned how to blink from Warlocks. But please don't admit that." - from Aphorisms To Anger Warlocks, a Hunter handbook
First, it states Hunters learned how to blink from Warlocks, not that Warlocks taught them. They could have learned through observation without being directly taught. Hence "please don't admit that." Second, note the source "Aphorisms To Anger Warlocks, a Hunter handbook"... this was something that Hunters were taught to say to make Warlocks angry. There is a lot of boasting back and forth between Hunters and Warlocks in the Lore, and this could have been recorded in jest. "Aphorisms To Anger Warlocks, a Hunter handbook" hardly counts as a reliable source of facts. In regards to the theory I've heard before: "Warlocks actually rip a hole in space and teleport through it, but Hunters just move faster than the naked eye can track" Until there is evidence in the Lore to support that, Warlocks and Hunters blink the same: From the Guardian / Movement modes Grimoire Card Blink:
Rip a hole in space and leap from point to point. Master the Blink, and you will be a fearsome killer - a spectral force, hard to evade and impossible to pin down.
9 RepliesWe taught the hunters.
-
No bungie did
-
2 RepliesWarlocks taught Hunters how to blink. And I think it has something to do with using the void to Teleport
-
5 RepliesWarlocks learned how to blink first. Then passed it onto hunters. It says so on some pair of warlock boots. Only us dull titans didnt learn how to blink yey
-
1 ReplyWarlock blink is a hole in space and time. That's why it's on the voidwalker. Hunters blink is a high speed jump. That's why it's on bladedancer
-
Warlocks "discovered" Blink, Hunters stole it. By that logic Warlocks created Nova Bomb so all classes should be able to use Nova Bomb.
-
Warlocks perfected it and they taught Hunters how to blink. Thing is is that Hunters have discount blink and Warlocks have real blink.
-
Hunters are just Warlocks who haven't reached full maturity yet. Basically says it in grimoire.
-
3 RepliesObviously hunters designed it. Just like we built the pyramids.
-
Warlocks learned it from ahamkara (wish dragons) like the scaled and bone covered armor
-
Yes they taught it to hunters it says on a blue pair of boots
-
Warlocks created blink, hunters stole it. Just like void bow is a stolen warlock ability modified
-
Warlocks developed and perfected the blink technique, but technically any guardian is capable of blinking regardless of class, so long as they have the light within them, the right teachings, and the correct mindset.

Warlocks taught hunters. And also, even though it's not in the jump, Stormcallers have blink too. Only during their super though

In a description for a low level piece of warlock gear, a quote from "Aphorisms to Anger a warlock" reads something along the lines of "hunters first learned blink from warlocks. But don't tell them that"
