I know it's about ten minutes. But does the cooldown begin from the time you consume the Three of Coins? Or does it begin when you kill an Ultra? Or does it begin when you successfully get an Exotic engram? I just find it confusing and want to make the most efficient use of my time.
Thank you!
(P.S. If there is a cooldown timer, why don't they just make it visible for you to see in your Inventory screen? Why make it invisible and all 'secretive'?)

Use it every other strike and you'll be fine

It's somewhere between 5-15 mins since you killed the last Ultra / completed the last crucible match. Nobody knows the exact cool down time but it starts from when the match ends/ultra dies. You can pop another one right away, you won't be penalized unless the next match ends or another ultra dies before the cool down is complete.

Hidden cooldown on 3oC is real, it's less than 15 minutes and more than 5 minutes. I don't think anything official has ever been published.

There is too much fog around this topic, but ill tell you from my experience with them... Wait at least 5-15 minutes after killing an ultra... I got pissed one day and just started popping them like crazy, eventually I still got an exotic... It's more of a debuff to your commulative chance that is suppose to increase your chances on the next ultra... Not meaning you won't get one if you spam them...eventually... I wish we could get some transparency on the topic from bungie ...

There is no cool down for ToC. You can use as many as you want, whenever you want, the effect will just last until you kill an ultra. They do not stack effects.

The cooldown timer starts at 10 minutes and is started as soon as you use the consumable. Until that cooldown ends, you will not have an increased chance of getting an exotic. Hope this helps

To answer your last question, to make the system not as easily understood, so that you end up using more Three of coins than nessasary. This causes you to need to spend more strange coins, which requires you to play more to get strange coins.

Who the hell confirmed it was 10-15min
-
I pop one every 3rd crucible and get one (sometimes 2) every 3-6 coins
-
I thought the cool done was 15m

I've had back to back engrams from srl. I think it's a myth.
-
Alot of people are saying it's ten minutes, I don't think it actual is that long. I use one every crucible match, many of which are less than 10 minutes long, and I get an engram at best every 4 games to 8 games.

From my experience, the cooldown seems to apply as soon as you pop the coin (not kill an ultra). Tried popping them repeatedly until an engram dropped. It was just a waste of 30 or so coins. Went back to using one every 10 minutes or so, started dropping every 3-5 coins.

Edited by maisydog: 4/3/2016 12:30:34 PMI'd say ultra kill. The consumable doesn't do anything until then, really.

Edited by Canty_91: 4/3/2016 11:11:28 AMI think it's all bull. Popped one killed the ultra knight got nothing so popped another one killed him strait away (5mins) got an emgram did it again got another one

It's invisible so they can alter how it works without you knowing. Not really sure about when the timer starts. I did wonder if you used a coin, then used the next one too early, would the second coin reset the timer and potentially make the 3rd coin useless as well?
