Seeing a lot of threads supporting SBMM
Im starting to see a lot of players starting to post threads supporting SBMM. They generally tend to be players with sub 1.0 k/d with hardly any crucible time played. They also seem to be saying that its fair and the only reason us "1%" players don't like it is because we can't pub stomp.
This argument is stupid and really isn't what we are angry about at all. While it is nice to try hard sometimes like in ToO or sweats, trying hard all the time sucks and we shouldn't be forced to do it for one, especially in a game that has no ranked playlists. If there were a ranked and social playlist, we wouldn't even be having this conversation as we could all go try hard in ranked playlists that had MM based on skill and then go relax in social playlists like basically every game ever.
On top of constantly having to try our asses off, pull thorn out, etc. the skill pool at the higher levels is a lot smaller, meaning we are always getting laggy games. couple that with high skill and tiny bits of lag turn into huge advantages and frustration for everyone playing who isn't lagging. Lag sucks and the recent changes to MM have made the games more competitive AND laggier which is a terrible combination. It sucks. It has ruined the crucible and the fun we used to be able to have.
We aren't pissed because we can't pub stomp, we are pissed because the crucible is legitimately awful right now.

The people that say they don't like the idea of SBMM cause of connection I can get behind and support. Your argument however is imature and selfish.

1 ReplyEvery time against red bars. Every team with green bars are immortal and then red bars. I got errors every time and my internet connection is fine. This IB is a mess for the lag and servers :/

High k/d people : we don't want sweaty matches all the time, it's tiring for us, let us go play and wipe lower k/d players so they can have hard time matches. Plus how are we supposed to make our streams /videos with awesome kills if we always play with players on our level. Lag was always there in pvp, and I'd rather a laggy game with a fighting chance for myself than an awesome connection game against people who are completely out of my league and simply destroy me in 5 mins. Question : is ToO sbmm based? Or is it card/cbmm?

If youre speaking out against it because your sweaty ass doesnt want to play against other sweaty neck bearded mlg wanna-bees, youre out of line. Want to devastate level 8 guardians with .6 kd's and a 2000 grimoire? Well then, quit being a try hard sweaty ass desticle and get your kd down.

Yeah that's the reason...because of "lag". But hey man, I agree, sbmm needs to go. I have a god awful tier kd and even I want to pub stomp.

Match based on connection to reduce lag issues. Then configure teams based on stats/skill to even them out. Have an even mix of high and low skill on each team to generate more even play. I don't mind getting my ass kicked by good players (that's how you get better) but I do mind people teleporting all over the place and not taking damage. Taken enemies are supposed to be in PvE only FFS.

13 RepliesI'll say it again: there is no argument against SBMM other than connectivity. Bungie is working on that and will use IB, and likely Crimson Days, as a means to facilitate a fix. If this is not good enough, the only option you're left with is doing something else. Like it or not, the fix won't be instantaneous, and it won't be perfect. Which means it's your choice whether you play or not, and by playing you are giving your implicit approval of whatever Bungie decides. In the end, Destiny is a casual game. If you're worried about stats, don't. If you want to have casual games where you can still have a chance of winning, then play a game casually and hope you win. As a side note, until the issue is fixed, having a lower calculated skill level is in your advantage. So maybe play more casually and your experience should be greatly enhanced. Which, coincidentally, shouldn't be a mentality you're bribed into considering that Destiny isn't a competitive game.

2 RepliesMost people are pissed because they aren't doing as good as they used to. They are not posting 2.0k/ds every game like they used to do so they are upset now. A lot of the good players are not playing good players and their kds are dropping, bad players are playing bad players and their kds are rising.

I dunno.. im not a scrub I know that much... 1.2 kd in some of the easier game modes and .9 in trials.... maybe my 1.2 is thoroughly average and that's ok... the point is... I worked very hard to get where I am.. now im not a stat whore and don't put a whole lot of importance in that number... but I do use that to measure where I am as a pvper my point of all this being is that when I first started I was pathetic ya know.. like .15 pathetic... and quite frankly that pissed me off... so I played my ass off to get to the point where I could be competitive against most and at least be a thorn in the paw of the crucible gods... and I did that with the randomness of year 1 matchmaking. it gave me the opportunity to play against scrubs to see what they were doin wrong and play against gods to see what they did right. some matches were easy and fun.. others were rough... and not fun in the least... but that's the nature of RNG. it also gave me the opportunity to play out of my comfort zone to try new things to improve my overall gameplay. now with matchmaking like it currently is... if I don't play in my top form with my ultimate load out... im gonna get stomped.... sometimes I wanna try new stuff... but if im getting massacred around every corner how am I supposed to try new things? now some people are gonna say that is the same thing that these .3ers deal with all the time and well.. it kinda is... but lets be honest here... in competitive games... you play to win. even if its fun.. the main goal is to win.. there is nothing else. now your not gonna win every time especially if your out of comfort zone.... I guess what im saying here is... (and I know im gonna sound like an asshole and I really couldn't care less) I don't give a flyin shit what bottom feeders think... get yourself to a respectable level first and then lets talk... and before somebody calls me a hypocrite.. I don't go talkin about how things should be to people with godly 3+ kds... they quite obviously know more then I do... I know my position and I respect. winning isn't everything... its the only thing

3 RepliesAll I've seen from the complainers is people worried about maintaining their precious K/D's and complaining about how hard they have to try now. So in other words they want to go back to pub stomping so they can feel great about their super high K/D's lol what a joke.

So yea...you think you are joining a game for fun..only to find your self having to do a 1v6...at least in SBMM people on your team has a f'n clue.... IB too was lopsided as hell...remember how it was when you played a fireteam of 6? You were destined to lose that match...what i noticed in TTK....Matches were RARELY lopsided, because they matched up with people who had common sense and had similar skill set as you.... so running IB solo was not so bad...

1 ReplyEither SBMM nedds to be better implemented, or removed and make one or 2 play;ist for them. Really. Trials at the moment for me its the LEAST sweaty playlist, and that its ironic. I will rather get my ass beaten 10 times in a row on different games against super high skilled players with no lag, THAN being put into games with lower people than me that I should win gunfights agaisnt, but then the lag...

2 RepliesI view it this way: you talk about how it isn't fair for you guys to have to go sweaty all the time but us "non-git-gud" players have to be sweaty every game because other players are getting matched every time with us. We never get to have a "fun" game if we want to be competitive. How's that fair? Second, there isn't anything wrong with it if they would fix lag issues with dedicated servers and the like. I hate lag like anyone else but I also hate being in a match all the time w/ the last word and 1k stare dudes prepping for trial. Hence, those reasons are why PvP isn't any fun for us and guess what? When low skill players finally stop playing PvP and stick to PvE, then you'll be back to playing sweatys every game.

I suck at PVP and seriously i wouldnt mind going up against people with my skill level ...IF the damn matchmaking dint pair me with people on the other side of the damn world... how is it fair that we both have the same "Skill" if they are red bar and teleporting everywhere and i cant damage them , not fair at all. Until a game can finally create a Skill Based matchmaking that garantees me someone from my region (which no game , specially games with peer to peer connections cant get right) i say take it off and make it connection based

Must be so tough for you... you realize us average players have to try hard every match just like you, and when we get matched against kids who are just way out of our league it doesn't matter how hard we try. Stop crying because you're playing kids on your level, we are doing the same thing. Average players aren't here so you can casually crush people while "relaxing". Get over yourself.
