Problems with the Oryx Challenge

So I just got done with 3 hours of the King's Fall raid with some of my friends, we made it to the end no problem. Took a little getting used to for the challenge mode, but we got it down. Everyone running Touches of Malice, we all know what to do, etc. A wave of ogres spawn, and one teleports away from its spawn point, messes it all up, team wipe. Three times. Fourth and final time, all 16 bombs are detonated simultaneously, ask anyone in our fireteam. Oryx climbs up with a small chunk of health left and starts pulling people into the Darkness Dimension when he should be dead from the 16-bomb blast. I'm told these things are "known bugs" by my friends. I'm not sure how true that statement is, but I sure hope it's being worked on, because those last 5 rounds were very frustrating.

  • Orges are suppose to teleport and Oryx is suppose to surprise you with a chunk of health. Its Bungies way of keeping the game fresh lol

  • Connection issues. The only time bugs like that pop up are due to connections.

  • I for one have never seen an ogre teleport But i have heard of it and has also assumingly happend in my fireteam. I think it means: "oh shit we forgot to put the las bullet in the ogre" Also only seem to happen only when people in my team using touch of malice with blessing of light on the ogres... Snipers are quicker and stagger them better Maybe that helpes

    • Same thing happened to us, detonate 16 bombs, go to do final damage, and he pulls into the shade again. Happened twice and we went into the bombs at the same time, crazy . I also can't believe bungie still hasn't fixed the teleporting ogre problem even after we killed it

      • No, your runner failed to keep dps on oryx at all times after staggering on the last phase. Problem solve.

        • 1) no 1 bars in your lobby 2) someone lost a blight to a knight, the vessel, or accidentally set one off 3) if oryx had ANY health left you didn't get all 16 blights 4 ) easiest strat is 2 titans on sisters platform running blessings and weapons at the same time. Melts ogres guick and keeps them from sprinting 5) No 1 bars in your lobby. 1 bars make the lag unacceptable and crazy things happen that shouldn't 6) heed my advice no 1 bars!

          • The Ogres do teleport and it seems like a glitch, but it is not an issue if you kill them quickly. It's actually a fun challenge. A helpful method is to have a hunter (or two) use Nightstalker with Quiver, Snare and Predator. Before Oryx slams his fist and your runner starts jumping, have your hunters tether the Ogre spawns. The thethers will stay and help increase DPS output significantly. This should help to eliminate teleporting Ogres, especially if you have people using sub-320 primary weapons. Oryx not taking full damage is because someone failed to detonate a bomb. This happened to us last night. We were absolutely certain, beyond and reasonable doubt, that we detonated 16 blights. The recap screen flashed and we detonated 4, 4, 4, 3. It was a piss off, but not a glitch. Possible a blight got eaten at some point and no one noticed.

            • Only prob I had was 1 of use died on run back & his orbs didnt register, it went off on feed but no damage from person that dies

              • I agree we all had good green connection and not only does the fourth ogre teleport the vessel which I kill before we kill the ogre in the middle comes back to life to get the blight in front of the bubble which would of been okay cuase we didn't set it off he took but we were all to busy watch the vessel which died before the ogre get the blight in order to shoot oryx. To make him flinch. Bungie fix your damn p2p system already and upgrade to d severs I'm fed up with this shit happening on your game.

                • Go for 20 blights to make sure you get him no problem if two gets missed when heck you could go for 24 if you do the shade quick enough.

                  • Next time check the post game screen and count the corrupted light detonations to ensure there were 16 orbs detonated. Likely one of your orbs was a little offset and thus didn't detonated

                    • My group did two full runs in under four hours, and that time included bathroom breaks and finding two randos on LFG for each run. If you get the people on their pillars to help out killing the ogres (even just toss their grenades at them) while you have two dedicated ogre killers (preferably using ToM and a Blessings of Light bubble to keep their health up) shooting at them as soon as they spawn you won't have any issue with teleportation. When I run as a titan I'm usually one of the ogre killers and I've found it very helpful to save my own sticky grenade to toss at the fourth ogre. We have had blights disappear before. I'm not sure why... can they take too much damage and be destroyed like regular blights? That might have been the cause. Your pillar people have to keep an eye on that. If they can't be sure that they are seeing the expected number of blights, do another round just to be safe. As others have said, you apparently need someone to be constantly shooting Oryx in the chest while the rest are going for the detonations to make sure it stays open and he takes the full damage from the blights.

                    • You got to have your runner keep non stop dps on Oryx, I guarantee that's what happened. As for the ogres, yeah that's a known bug

                      Yes all known Bugs we have messed too. 1. Too avoid the porting ogres it is importand too shot nonstop with the ToM too the ogres head. One little Break between two sniper shoots and the ogre porting too the middle. Titan Bubble in the middle needed with Blessings of Light. 2. After Oryx quiver, one man shots permamently on oryx, the other can collect safe the ammo outside of the shield. 3. If you have Bungie-Lag or a redbar into the team it is very importand too go into the bombs in the same millisecond. Go into the bombs means not run out of the shield. Problem if all 4 Positions run out simultaneously there is a long way on one side and a short way on the other. With Lag it shows you all 16 bombs detonated in the chat text. But the Lag makes you show some detonated bombs who was ignated too slow.

                    • 3 full raids in 3 hours. Only one had teleporting happen. And all six teammates had to run and detonate while shooting Oryx in the chest and return for the win. The thing is if you and your team are aware of glitches or anything that can go wrong than it should be a normal reaction to get the win.

                      1- dont use sniper rifles on Ogres if they srumble back to much, they clip of map and are teleported in. 2- After Preventing Oryx from claping, have 2 players cleanning adds and the rest keep shooting touch of malice at his chest until the immune sign pops up. do it every round. We never had the remaining sliver of health problem since we do it.

                    • My GT is NitrousCastle42, Me and my fireteam were attempting to do the Oryx Challenge and due to the Ogre teleport glitch happening during all 8 attempts that were made. Right now the Challenge is not completable!

                      • For the first 2 ogres I use touch of malice and hold the trigger until the ogres are dead, this leaves me at about 1/2 health, then I sniper shot the 3rd one with 1k yard stare, get my health back and touch of malice the last one

                      • yeah the teleporting ogres is an annoying bug me and my team went through that bs last oryx challenge week, point of advice till they fix this bs is keep dps on the ogres and dont let up till its fully dead cause i noticed when we would start to dps and reload when its still alive and it would teleport, so have plate runners help out is all i can say, as for him having a chunk of health left, if you dont know already the relic runner or anyone should be shooting oryx's chest as ur detonating the bombs cause his chest has a shield around it and you need to shoot it to drop it to expose him to the bombs, hope i helped.

                        • Yeah me and my fireteam ran in to the same problem but i think i know how to avoid it , after you detonate the 16 orbs make sure everyone shot oryx chest right away to regester a damage i notice and tested this theory last night it works everytime for me and the teleporting ogres usually starts after someone dies

                        • Had teleporting ogres wheb i did it a few weeks ago. Only ever on the 3rd round of them too. Seems like a stupid bug.

                        • That's ok. Last time we ran oryx for challenge mode we detonated all 16 bombs and his health didn't drop at all. Slightly demoralizing. Worked perfect last night though
