Yes or no?
Edit: Thank you all for the opinions or comments they're all very interesting and I'm trying to reply to a good amount of them.
Also my opinion on the matter is undecided at the moment, main reason I asked this question.

The Destiny franchise will last 10 years. Not just this single game.

As much as we love this game, it's literally impossible to last 10 years and stay "fresh" for all those years. More likely between those years there will be eventually a better game than Destiny. Bungie knows this and if I'm not mistaken, they already came out and said that the program won't last for 10 years. That's because it's obvious...wanting to have a game for that long is too ambitious. Now many can say that they can launch a game every 2-3 years but even so the game won't stay fresh and it'll lose interest by players and also remember new games coming out. I will admit that I love destiny so far and I'm addicted to it after 1 year but also take into account the bad decisions (with more bad than good patches) that Bungie is making towards the future that might bring an even earlier halt to the game. In my opinion I highly doubt that Destiny will be strong between now and the next 9 years...that's the bottom line.

I think I watched a video from I think destinyfollower or planet destiny, it was regarding the 10 year plan; it seems they are backing pedaling on that.

1 ReplyAlmost spat out my drink while reading the title lol nope

1 ReplyBefore taken King I would've said no. After taken King I believe it's only going to get better

I'll be broke from buying destiny content in 10 years eventually it'll be you must pay $20 to buy a weapon or some crap like that.
-
The way they're handling it now? Impossible...

THE MOST BEAUTIFUL GIRL IN THE IN MY HEAD ROOM AND THE THE FIRST TIME I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO IT AGAIN IN MY ROOM IS A GREAT WAY FOR ME I WAS IN A WHILE TO GET THE HANG OUT AND ABOUT THE FUTURE OF THE DAY BEFORE I GET A FOLLOW BACK ON MY WAY HOME AND SLEEP ALL NIGHT AND I'M STILL NOT SURE WHAT THE ACTUAL NUMBER ONE IN A WHILE AGO BUT THE ONLY THING THAT WOULD HAVE TO GO BACK AND I DON'T THINK THAT I CAN SEE IT AS AN EXCUSE FOR THE NEXT FEW WEEKS OF A SUDDEN IT WAS THE BEST OF THE YEAR AND I DON'T THINK THAT I CAN GET THE HANG OF IT AND IT IS NOT THE SAME THING TO SAY IT WAS THE BEST OF THE YEAR AND I DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH YOU MEAN TO YOU IN A STATEMENT ISSUED BY THE END OF THE DAY

At this rate I don't think so. The pay to win model they're showing will make a lot of people quit the game. Myself included
-
It will be very hard, If they dont change things then it will Not last, even 5 years
-
If they ramp up the story and listen to the players, then maybe.
-
If they make some key changes, yes.
-
If they bring in pay to win: Nope If they continue down the path they are going: Nope If they improve and quit doing bullshit: Maybe
-
Not in a million years.
-
Nope.
-
Destiny won't. The Destiny franchise will.

There would have to be some major improvements for me to keep playing for 9 more years. New games come out every month. I'm sure there will be games that when released everyone will forget destiny. If they would have made it a 3 year plan, maybe then it would have more life in it. But since they decided to break it down from one game into many, they screwed themselves in the long run. No one wants to play a game that requires you to rinse and repeat several times just to acquire something that may or may not be worth it...generally not worth it in the end anyways. This game needs way more content to be a contender for a long haul run they think they are going to pull off. In year one I stopped playing after 2 months. It became monotonous, just like it already is becoming after only a month of TTK release. How do you expect to keep players entertained for 10 years?? The only people that will be impressed will be kids new to it...that's it.

If private matchmaking is ever in a game it'll last a looong time. My only question is what people think would prevent it from lasting 10 years. People leaving? I thought this game was supposed to be a desert during HoW but now they have more users than before
-
In its current state it is getting slowly better. At the rate in which it changes I doubt it can last, however, Once last gen is dropped and they can focus on current and next gen we may see some more progress. Also if Bungie can get their shit together that would help a lot as well lol.

It's not gonna last another 2, maybe one
-
1 ReplyI don't think it can honestly. My ps4 will most like die within 10 years, and at that point I won't be able play destiny anymore
-
1 ReplyIt depends how many games they make. Each game will last probably 1 and 3/4 of a year. Let's round that to two. So if that make 4 games it will last 8 years but we also have to consider waiting times in between games so technically yeah I guess it could last ten years with the waiting periods from the last dlcs death to the next game in the series
-
Probably be new consoles by then with better graphics so I don't think so.
-
2 RepliesEhh. Idk really. I imagine Destiny 2 will make everything from Destiny 1 useless like past DLCs have done. That will make a lot of people upset.
