The elephant in the room: Selling us fixes to Vanilla Destiny as part of TTK.

So I wasn't expecting to be back on here and not in bed sleeping but my dogs wake me up in the middle of the night to go out and I checked in on the forums while waiting for them. What I found was a growing undercurrent to the whole TTK announcements, that I think is reaching the point where Bungie need to address it before the elephant knocks the tent down. This isn't something new. We've been discussing this in posts for the last couple of weeks, but there is a problem with how Bungie are selling The Taken King and to understand why they're wrong in what they're doing, there are a couple things to understand: 1) The Taken King DLC consists of the story and missions taking place in the fight vs Oryx. It includes... -a new playable space (his dreadnaught) -the "new" enemy "Taken" -new weapons and armor -new PvP maps -a new PvP game mode -new strikes -a new raid. 2) Coming alongside The Taken King are a raft of changes necessitated by the fact that year one was (to a great degree) a disaster and a giant beta test. Those changes to the vanilla experience include... -Having to rework the entire quest structure -reordering some missions and adding new vanilla level tutorial missions as well as adding in cut-scenes and some Grimoire integration to give the game an actual story -redoing the economy (again!), this is their 4th stab at endgame currency. Conveniently each reset makes an initial barrier to new expansion gear... -more vault space as well as collection kiosks to finally fix the horrendous storage we've dealt with since launch -trackable quests and bounties -actual equippable ghost shells -Reworked faction rep. We can once again turn in materials for rep like we could in vanilla and no longer are beholden to wearing their class items to get the rep. -weapon patch 2.0 that may or may not balance things -new menus (ui) -reworked leveling system because the current Light-Levels-to-endgame sucks -Completely replacing the entire Ghost dialogue in the game (I'm going to shake my head and laugh if Ghost talks in the TDB and HoW missions now) Now while taken as a whole all this is a sea of changes coming our way, it's kind of bs to lump this all together and that's exactly what they're doing. Everything in point #2 are things that realistically should have been in this game on 9/9/2014. That is why people are so pissed off and feel we've been paying to play a beta for the last year. When you are literally going back and redoing the entire vanilla experience, that signifies that that experience was broken and not ready for final release. And while it is a GREAT THING that after we've championed for those things for the last year that our efforts here are finally coming to fruition... these thing have NOTHING to do with The Taken King and 90% of what we've had previewed by Bungie (at E3, in the GI cover and now through the first video stream) are all fixes to the broken base game experience and again, have nothing to do with the $40 (and up, sorry overseas people) they're asking for The Taken King. Honestly weapon patch 2.0 should have been out in May and barring that, it should have dropped the day after they announced it. Why are we still playing with weapons they say are broken? Vault space should be doubled today. They're telling us to not dismantle gear pre-TTK... uh, what part of we don't have anyplace to store it are you not getting?? While I've thrown praise at Bungie for the direction that things seem to be headed and for actually listening and getting a raft of Guardian requested fixes into the game, they need to stop making this all seem like it's part of the Taken King. It's not. I know the next Stream will be on the dreadnaught, so we'll hopefully get info on the actual expansion the next two weeks.

  • And here you are making a post about how bad Bungie is and that it will all fall down. However you have another post building them up. You are such a sell out fraud it is sad. Once enough gamers see you for what you are you will be a sad lonely man with no friends. You need to stick to one thing and fight for it. Stop fighting for Destiny and against its community or stop fighting for the community and stick with destiny. You are so ficle it is becoming upsetting.
