Reddit rumor: All current guns will stop at 365
I heard yesterday that the Etheric Light upgrades will stop with The Taken King, and the current 365 weapons will not be upgradeable with the next frontier. Twas also said that it Exotics would'nt be upgradeable either (but that's gotta be horseshit, right?)
So what's up? They'll actually cap at 365 and the new guns/gear will set the next level? Personally I think that the Etheric Light thing's been the smartest in-game added feat to date. Now, we're building individual setups really..

If guns weren't acendable then they wouldn't be nerfed things like BH, what would be the point if they were to become obsolete anyway?

15 RepliesI've said it before and I'll say it again: if they decide not to let us ascend our gear, there's absolutely no way I'll be buying TTK. If Bungie is so lazy and lacking in creativity that they can't think of a way to make the new weapons/gear just as desirable as the old ones without making them obsolete, then there's no way they deserve another dime.

4 RepliesI would bet that legendary weapons will die out because even though fatebringer will always be one of the best I don't want to use the same weapons for 10 years but exotics will probably be ascendable because they are more unique than the legendary weapons

I think its probably time to move on from year 1 legendary weapons. However I personally don't think that will be the case. I don't think they'd take the time and effort to change the White Nail perk for Black Hammer if it was going to be irrelevant in year 2

Edited by Loyalpayer: 7/23/2015 5:17:28 AMNerfing year 1 weapons to make them useless. Just a way to force you to buy ttk where the new year 2 weapons will be. No ttk no decent weapons and nobody will play with you with your inferior guns. It has bothing to do with balancing on the pve side.

I'd like a way to upgrade none raid legendarys still. They are only doing this because everyone uses fatebringer.

All year one legendary weapons will cap at 365, our exotic weapons will still scale up to the new damage cap.

Shouldn't matter for standard PvP anyway, right? But really, that's what this weapon patch/update is all about: making sure the current weapons aren't better than the [i]new[/i] weapons.. Or else you won't grind for them. Well, that's my opinion.

12 RepliesWhy is everyone for fixated on ascending their gear? Are you telling me you want to wear the same gear and use the same weapons for 10 years? Seriously? Bungie's mistake was allowing us to ascend our weapons in the first place. Vanilla weapons should gradually die out like they were starting to do in the dark below. Not immediately cut off. The ascending of weapons and armor was a mistake. A better solution was to make it so that there was more than one set of armor to reach max level

Judging on how lazy bungie is when it comes to weapon design,I seriously doubt they will make all year one weapons useless. My prediction is they will scrap etheric light and weapon damage stat, instead damage output will be directly tied to your light level. This makes more sense as you progress your character you become more powerful, through your light level not by the armour you have on. This will encourage new players to play through the old raids, matchmaking for sure..yes!!! I bet that is the ace card they will use for this expansion... The new currency will just be I guess a blob of light LOL...which will only be obtainable through new raid and nightfall..hang on to your faithbringer..it ain't going anywhere...

Bungie has NOT said anything like this. Now think about this...if this were true them why would they need to nerf black hammer if it were not upgradable.
