Do not buy the new DLC in any form
At the very least don't pre order it. Bungie believes they can wrap up whatever abortion of content they want and slap a $40-$80 price tag on it and people will buy it. The sad truth is they aren't wrong. This game from the very beginning has been a stream of disappointment and despite making large strides to better it Bungie still can't seem to grasp that people are fed up and rightfully so.
I'm hearing that they'll be coming out with something to honor first year players. That's cool and all but let me tell you that if they CARED about you in the first place they wouldn't have needed a PR disaster to mention it. Seriously open your eyes and look at what they're trying to sell you for at the very least 2/3rds of the cost of just the base game.
I'd highly suggest that in the current state of planned release you refrain from purchase. Even if you love playing Destiny buying this content will only fortify their position against you and your wallet. Don't feed the beast until after we see just how expansive this DLC will be. There will be plenty of competition this Fall and Bungie doesn't deserve your money for free. Make them earn it. Make them earn your play time because right now and since the very beginning they've been laughing at us.
Edit - Okay clearly many of you aren't quite getting what I am putting down so I'll attempt clarification. DO NOT PREORDER THE DLC "EXPANSION" UNTIL IT LAUNCHES. Wait and see just exactly how EXPANSIVE it will be. Look at how screwed we got over TDB and to a lesser extent HoW. When you give them money before they release the content they have zero obligation to release a fair amount of new and quality stuff. We've shown them twice already that we're content with whatever dismal droppings they'll throw at us. I LOVE DESTINY. I want destiny to be BETTER that's why I TOOK THE TIME to write this lengthy post to incite discussion on DLC practices. NOT TO TELL YOU WHAT YOU CAN OR CANT SPEND YOUR MONEY ON but to put forth an idea on how to show Bungivision were sick of paying top dollar for rehashed garbage and we're not going to achieve that if we're content with the current plans for the DLC drop. Don't let them have your money until you're absolutely sure it's worth it. We need to stand against predatory DLC practices united or else they've already won and any future DLC and Destiny 2 will be the same old tune.

I like the game I want to play more of said game I'll buy this dlc Because I bought this dlc I contribute to the developer who made it, they will then make more dlc and I will continue to buy it and enjoy it. The cycle continues Simple Easy I like it this way and I'd rather not join some false crusade because I'm butthurt about some item in it. Grow up.

Pre-order = Buying Hype You're literally buying the marketing. Informed consumers don't do that. Destiny's target demographic largely doesn't consist of informed consumers. Just regular everyday people who want to turn something on and run around in a digital space shooting things in the face. Among the demographic there's virtually no consideration for gaming as an art form, nor desire for intellectual engagement with it. It's kind of the reason I play it, let's me turn my brain off, very "thought optional" design, mostly reflex checks and muscle memory. It's a masterfully crafted hamster wheel. For that reason, Destiny will continue to do just fine. The overwhelming majority of its player base don't read up, don't lurk forums, and don't rightly care to. Interestingly enough, I can garuntee I'll enjoy Destiny just as much as I do right now with No DLC, as I would with all of it, TTK included. So they're making the hamster wheel a little bigger? Well let me check my account. Oh, sorry Bungie, it seems I'm currently at at zero balance of Give a Shits. Think I'll just wait, casually play Destiny as I play other games waiting for the Q4 heavy hitters (R6: Siege, SW: BF, AC: Syndicate, and Fallout 4), and get more free stuff from Bungie with no purchase necessary. Especially after this Luke Smith jackass fiasco, Bungie isn't getting anything from me without a OVERWHELMINGLY positive review with TTK. I'm talking 10/10, 5 stars, and so sexy you'd bang it if you could. Doubtful that'll happen, but no big deal, I'll have no shortage of games to play anyhow.

You don't understand the concept of preordering lol. When you preorder it they don't get your money until the content is released. you can cancel preorders.

That's why bungie isn't even trying to keep it under wraps anymore that these people will 'throw money at their TV' for anything, even the most minimal content. I loved this game for awhile, and HoW even brought me back for a little over a month. I just refuse to keep paying, 20 here, 40 there, for a game to re use old content and pass it off as 'new'. I'm just saying man. It's not even about the money. I could afford the 80 dollar edition and it wouldn't hurt me at all. I just don't like wasting money and don't like supporting companies like bungie. Loved halo, but these are definitely not the same guys. Put it this way, bought battlefield 4 two years ago for 59.99 and bought premium for 49.99 with my purchase. Two years ago..this game still gets updated and they are still releasing new content. NEW. Not a blocked off area or a gun that's been greyed out since launch, but actual brand new content. These people don't care, save your time making threads like this and arguing with people. Just move on man. There's other great games out now and great comes that are gonna come out. Like I said, loved this game for awhile and put hella hours into it, but I can't support the direction this game has continually been going since the dark below. If people still like and play this game, great. I just think this is it for me. Don't like feeling like I'm constantly getting -blam!-ed over by corporate scumbags.

Been around since the limited Pre-Alpha on PS4 and I still average around 2 to 3 hours a day. Pre-ordered the Destiny: Ghost Edition. Pre-ordered the Taken King: Collector's Edition. Content of the package is barely part of the equation. I just know I [i]will[/i] get my money's worth out of this, no matter what. Sorry!

2 RepliesThi is basic logic, but the sad truth is that players will still preorder it. Some come out with the argument that if we dont, it will prevent Bunjie from futur quality developement in this franchise. As for today, it's the best selling game of all time. Believe me...they have the money. For my part i will buy it. I wont preorder it. And with so many good game comming out in the next few months, This will be the ultimate test for me. If the Taken king is not fixing this patch work of a game, it's my last run here.

Collectors Edition PREORDERED Corporate Slave here I throw my money to them, plis take it I am. Gamer for 26years now, and Destiny is so far One of the Best Experiences ever for me. And If you think i am cancelling my Preorder and Wait for the Release and Reviews for Taken King, then dude you are wrong. I am not giving ppl like you a chance to get the Collectors Edition. Lol sry for that. Dude Honestly i Respect you for what you do and wana say, but don't blame ppl for preordering and don't try to turn ppls opinion based on your opinion and feelings for the DLC prise.
