Thank you all for taking the time to answer!
I have been trying to reply to all of you personally but I just can’t keep up.
I recently created a Titan and have been slowly levelling up over the last days.
I've been maining a Hunter almost exclusively so it takes some getting used to.
The completely different jump ability took me a while to figure out but I've found it's actually easier to reach places when compared to my hunter with triple jump.
I'm only level 12 at the moment but it already feels like I can take more hits and not die when compared to my hunter.
I'm looking for any tips from veteran Titans about controls and such that will help me improve my playstyle.
Would also like some advice about which exotics to look out for that are considered best for Titans.

Depends on your preferences... I'm more of a fan of the Striker subclass personally tho

1 Reply'Titan' is often auto-corrected with the word 'tits' if not careful, while typing messages on this forum. That's the top advice, check your spelling. Other than that, Ward of dawn/Defender is what tits is about.

Edited by ThtSunDanceKid: 2/9/2015 5:41:25 PMWhat I run Defender titan increased hight for jump Ward of dawn is tricky to say the least its always a battle to decide on weapons of light (damage buff) or blessing of light (over shield) I usually go with blessing in pvp and dependingon how close I am to adds in pve if I'm at a distence I will run with weapons but if they have a chance to get close I will always use blessing. For disintegrate (mele) again a toss up between war machine (while force barrier is active all weapons reload blindingly fast) or unbreakable (force barrier continually recharges) Note: force barrier is only obtainable when you mele kill a enemy do not confuse it with the shield you get from ward of dawn they are 2 different shields. Use bastion makes ward of dawn last longer. And illuminated is a must Finally I run full armor and recovery With spike or magnetic grenades Hope this helps sorry it's so long

Helm of st.14 (defender helm) is a must only helm I'm missing then helm of inmost light (striker class helm) ruin wings (subclass neutral) is probably the best exotic for Titans esp for Croat. Armamentarium (sub class neutral) is awesome for pvp you get 2 nades use with lightning grenades (striker grenades) Use increased hight for jump Aftermath for fist of havoc Amplify or discharge for storm fist I run full armor and agility Run aftershock so your grenades last longer and your fist of havocs after math lasts longer aswell Finally shoulder charge this is why I have full agility

2 RepliesTitans are versatile teammates. I have all exotics for my Titan minus some ruin wings. ( still kicking myself in the ass for not purchasing them from xur). I can usually change my setup on the fly so i dont have to return to tower. They are a lifesaver and a strong spearhead for a good team. As strong as they may seem, you're still going to need your teammates for the more difficult things. Like any other class, they are deadly in the right hands. Keep leveling and keep your exotics. I'm sure you'll find that there a lot of different ways to play one.

Defender, increased height for jump, weapons of light and blessing of light and always use illuminated. Use ruin wings or helm of saint 14, dont use armatarium in pve.

1 ReplyUse fist of havoc in the crucible as often as possible, it's a well respected manoeuvre amongst destiny peers

Use "control" over increased height in the jump perk tree. I used the floaty and slow increased height for a long time before discovering how much better control is. Sure sometimes if I want to get up someplace special I have to switch it, but with increased control on, jumping forward is faster, and you can fly around much better. In crucible control playlist, use armor of light bubble for defender titan. I can take down a lot of people that way, even blade dancers. If you take a lot of damage in the bubble and it doesn't say armor of light on the left side of your screen anymore, step out of the bubble and then back in to get it back. Magnetic and suppress are good nades for crucible. For defender titan... Mag stick like halo stickies. Suppressor takes supers away and do damage. Jump up out of your bubble to throw. In PVE suppressor stops wizards and some ogres from shooting. For every thing else crucible besides control (and sometimes including) I've been using striker. Master the PvP shoulder charge. Still experimenting with striker nades. Lighting seem cool. Blinding nades are good for nightfall. Get the armamentarium exotic chest for double nades. It's great for PVP. Get the helm of st 14 exotic helmet for Raid/PvP as defender Titan. Blinds people in your bubble. Best advice is experiment. I used the same settings too long and now I am branching out. But I never really liked crucible that much. There's no flag or warthog

PvP: Striker PvE: Defender

For a titan it's relatively simple. For any combat scenario: Slayer...beep...beep...beep...Toot For any objective scenario: King of the Hill...beep...beep...beep...Toot For raid with relics: Oddball, play ball!

Titans are the walls that hold forever. And their fist are as lethal as thors hammer. Titans can handle pretty much anything.

Titans are the true warriors in Destiny. We don't scamper on the outskirts of strikes and raids. We are the glue and nucleus of all that are guardians. Defender Force Barrier and Melee with a Shotgun. Nothing can hold us down.

Edited by A Pineapple: 2/9/2015 2:34:58 PMStriker = all pvp and most of Crota, except for the actual Crota fight Defender = control if you want and pve. On striker use shoulder charge!!

Edited by KatoZee: 2/9/2015 2:31:27 PMWhen playing as a Titan Defender, look out for the Helm of the Saint, it will be your godsend as the preferred exotic for Defender. With regards to Striker, the Helm of inmost light or skullfort. Other titan exotics are nice to have but apart from the ones previously mentioned those are the key ones to go for. Striker is very much an aggressive class to play however get used to using flash bangs a lot and your team will love you for it. Do note that kills with a shoulder charge also activates the transfusion perk, so no need to wait for cool downs on punching. Here is something that I see very few titans use in terms of play style of Defender. DO NOT think of your bubble as a shield and that’s the sole power of the Defender. A Defender can produce the most orbs of any class in the current game (sorry to any warlocks that think otherwise). So playing as a Defender think of it this way in terms of play style, every offensive super on your team is your weapon and all you have to do is reload the weapon. If you play with that mindset then you will find that strikes and raids go by really quickly, having helm of the saint allows you to play more aggressively and lockdown enemy positions. So without further tangents let me explain: Key features: Melee – generate orbs Bubble – generate extra orbs Heavy weapons – generate orbs By now you should know where all the main minion spawn times are for playlists, so aim to keep your FB for those times, then punch to lights out of the waves to generate good amounts of orbs. Side note its often advised to use your bubble to protect the things you need to punch. Put the bubble where bad guys can shoot it to get the extra orbs (easy 5 orbs for team mates) and use rockets on large groups (best result for me was 12 orbs from one gjallahorn shot). Or use an LMG to shoot targets. If played properly your teammates will have a difficult time finding targets for their supers. Suppressor grenade is something you should get used to throwing rather than any of the other types. Next time you see a wizard throw one and check the results, then have fun testing on other types of mobs, or for more fun next time you see a sustained super in pvp. Cautions – avoid using weapons that have ricochet inside your own bubble, you will kill yourself. If you are going to be punching mostly, use armour of light instead of the other perks as it will help keep your FB going longer. Another one is if using a blinding bubble, if a mob starts a melee animation outside of the bubble, it will continue to complete the set animation then it will start the blind animation. Just remember a Defender who just pops a bubble and thinks that’s it, is playing it wrong in my opinion. Even on hard raids you punch things to death so don’t let that worry you.

There are some AWESOME exotics for the titan to suit whatever raid gear drops for you. Armamentarium is my go to, but Ruin Wings is awesome with the additional heavy drops and the Helm of Saint 14 is awesome with the bubble blindness!!!

Punch bubbles Oh and striker is mainly for Crota's end, PVP and defender is good for VOG and strikes n stuff I chose striker for CE, I might not even go into VOG with him
