Any advice on playing a a Titan?

I have been trying to reply to all of you personally but I just can’t keep up.[/b] I recently created a Titan and have been slowly levelling up over the last days. I've been maining a Hunter almost exclusively so it takes some getting used to. The completely different jump ability took me a while to figure out but I've found it's actually easier to reach places when compared to my hunter with triple jump. I'm only level 12 at the moment but it already feels like I can take more hits and not die when compared to my hunter. I'm looking for any tips from veteran Titans about controls and such that will help me improve my playstyle. Would also like some advice about which exotics to look out for that are considered best for Titans.

  • If you have a good squad that knows what they're doing, and you are skilled yourself, max out the armor and agility stats with no boost to recovery. You will be able to out melee most majors, and if you get in trouble will have enough speed to get out of the heat, as well as enough armor to protect you during your escape. Doubling these stats with something like force barrier or Red Death will make you unbeatable in PvE.

      Main Titan myself, playing mostly as a defender (pve) and very rarely as striker (mostly in pvp)... The very first jump upgrade is also the best, discard catapult and the middle one, the improved height is what you want ;) I mostly play with weapons of light for the extra damage (and A LOT of that :D ) Switching to blessing of light if needed in specific fights (e.g. crota encounter as weapons o.l. doesn't do shit there) I typically rock the sticky granade, suppressor can probably be useful but I feel fine with the sticky and I am too lazy to test it :D Very straightforward easy to play class altogether, helm of saint 14 and ruin wings (and if you favor granades maybe armamentarium) are exotics to look out for( armamentarium being slightly less usefull than the other 2 as the heavy ammo doesn't stack with the one you'll most likely have on your (raid) boots...) Hmmm really not much to say about it, I enjoy playing defender a lot as the (blinding) bubble can be used for many purposes, getting that extra damage, extra shield, blocking of enemy paths, blocking of enemy fire, (healing yourself - doesn't work on a tooo short notice as you can still be shot during the animation) etc. Edit. And I still see everyone going crazy about ruin wings, yes they are great but you get close to their effect by just equipping a secondary weapon with the find more ammo perk... (e.G. I possess 2 LDR5001 that have it) so if I want to both my Warlock and Hunter also find 4-5 Rockets per heavy drop... Yes you'll be missing on the "increased" droprate of heavy ammo but the drops you get will be just as big as with the wings equipped ;)

      • I main Warlock, but I have a Titan. Not a pro tip, but if you're used to the Warlock glide, you'll be used to the Titan lift, and vice versa.

      • Titan's are tanks. Get used to punching stuff. Both with striker and with defender. Yes, yes, yes, punching is fun! But it serves a purpose. With the striker you can regen health and with Defender, it gives you a temporary shield that can protect you from further damage. Use your bubble. In a team setting with defender, weapons of light for offense and blessing of light for defense based on the team need at the time. When running solo, I ALWAYS go with Armor of Light. It makes you damn near invincible inside your bubble, and you can use it as an "Oh Shit" when you are about to get pummeled. This will help you immensely stay alive. The first and second grenades for strikers are useful. Especially the first one as it blinds enemies. The first and third grenades are the only useful ones in the Defender tree. One is a sticky grenade that does massive damage and the other disables specials along with its explosion. Toss the 3rd defender grenade in your tree under a bitch like Ohmigul and listen to her scream!!! You will notice she will scream, but wont be firing at you! It's kinda a big deal for those who know!         • Shoulder charge is a one hit kill in pvp and can be done mid air to give you that last bit of extra distance

          • Saint14 and Glasshouse for Defender, Armamenterium for Striker. It will take you some time to master Death from Above, but smashing the ground like Superman is just PRICELESS :)

          • PVP and Solo things with striker sublcass, in raids and strikes use the defender class with weapons of light or blessings of light. The increased height ability is probably the most useful as well btw.

          • Your main support for PVE and PVP just have that mindset. Not only can you protect your team from attacks, you can also save their butts by wiping a group of enemies out. #TitanMain

            • Learn how to use both subclasses, super useful.. Get a helm of saint 14 which is helpful for everything, get armamentarium which i use only for pvp. Get ruin wings... My fav but sometimes they dont drop shit. I would concentrate in agility and armor, i leave recovery for another class.

              • defender and helm of the saint 14 is really useful. it blinds enemies in the bubble and you can drop it in doorways when enemies come out during strikes and just beat them to death or shot gun them while they are blind. It's super useful. Get an armementariam chest plate and it gives you two extra grenedes. As for grenades. They aren't the best but something useful is, in pvp specifically, to throw the lighting bold against walls not the ground because it's damage patter fans out. When stuck to the ground it's easy to run around. But if you stick it on a wall right next to a flag it sprays out over the flag and the other team struggles to get near the control zone without dieing. The titan smash is useful on story missions when you don't need to get close but is a huge risk if there's the modifier that does extreme melee damage. That being said it can be very usefull if everyone in is generating orbs. Because with enough you can almost have endless supers. People love your weapons of light. It gives a multiplier on damage to any teammate that pass through your dome. Breath for strikes and having your whole team dealing bonus damage.

              • The titan has, in my opinion, the 2 best armor exotics in the game with ruin wings and Helm of saint. Get those and play around with the subclasses to see which one fits you best. Defender is the best with HoS and lightening grenades are very dominant when u place them correctly.

                • I have three Titan builds that I use. I use Striker with Insurmountable Skullfort, pulse grenade, the chance to recharge on the special melee hit, agility and toughness focus, shoulder charge, and increased duration of pulse grenade and fist of havoc. And I have two defender builds, one built around using Glass house and punching to make orbs, and one built around helm of saint 14 and locking down an area, specifically in pvp.
