Why MERCURY isn't in the Game
Guys,
Mercury can't be in the game because it's the hottest planet in the solar system. It basically touches the Sun's CMEs and we would all be dead immediately due to radiation and heat. Why do people want to go to a molten rock and fight the vex? These things blow my mind.
Why do people keep saying VENUS is hotter than Mercury? You guys need to learn the order of the planets.

Edited by Cal Exabyte: 2/5/2015 1:01:38 PMActually that's incorrect. It's the closest to the sun, but it's atmosphere is thick so it can't trap heat very well. Venus, on the other hand, has a thick atmosphere and traps a lot of heat. Learn 2 astronomy.

It'd be kind of cool if they had an inside of mercury level. Like how it was said they turned it into a machine in days, and you have to infiltrate the machine and destroy the heart/processor/whatever it may be. Kind of like the black heart level

Venus is gassy and well insulated by heavy cloud layers and supressive forces. Therefore Mercury can kinda ventilate overnight, but Venus doesn't, containing heat and getting more and more hot. Btw I love you b8er, you make such good posts, liked em all.

Because Venus has a crazy green house effect keeping it insanely hot! Mercury can be hotter at times, but at night in drops like crazy, unlike Venus which just keeps getting warmer.

Here's 2 things: 1.) you obviously didn't watch Intro to the game when the speaker explained Mercury was turned into a garden planet. 2.) Venus is hotter due to greenhouse effects because of the thicker atmosphere.

1 ReplyVenus is hotter than Mercury because it has a much thicker atmosphere. The atmosphere, the gaseous layer surrounding a planet, is like a blanket. Think of two people sitting next to a campfire one is much closer to the fire while another is further away. The one that is closer doesn't have a blanket (Mercury), while the other further away has a sleeping bag (Venus). Both persons are getting heat from the fire but the person with the sleeping bag keeps all the heat he or she gets. Mercury is closer but because it has a very thin or no atmosphere at all the heat goes out into space. Venus on the other hand with it's much thicker atmosphere holds all the heat it gets. The heat the atmosphere traps is called the greenhouse effect. If Venus did not have an atmosphere the surface would be -128 degrees Fahrenheit much colder than 333 degrees Fahrenheit, the average temperature of Mercury. Next time don't be a dumb ass and just Google. #science

The Burning shrine map in crucible is on Mercury. It's an awesome map and it also looks pretty stunning. They should add it in, would be awesome. P.S. It's a game, none of this has to make sense or comply with science :)

Why do you give a shit about that if the gravity on every planet is the same? The Traveler terraformed every planet, but that doesn't mean the Traveler tweaked with every planet's mass. Video game logic > Reality.

2 RepliesVenus is hotter than Mercury due to its thick CO2 atmosphere. Think global warming x10000 Mercury has little atmosphere so it is cooler than Venus, on average. The side facing the sun can be hotter, but only for a short period of time. Therefor, Venus is hotter than Mercury
