33 RepliesDeej, Is destiny absolutely perfect? No. Is it the best game I've played since Halo CE? Absolutely. I am thoroughly impressed by the way bungie has handled the first 3 months since Destiny's release. Be encouraged because I'm not the minority with this thought. I may be in the minority of posters on this site, but that doesn't mean your support doesn't exist. There's not one thing in the DLC preview that I don't think will better the play of destiny, and I can't wait! the only complaint I have is that it's being released during finals! Which means no studying for me ha. I find it ironic that the people in this community can complain about anything. One comment I read was complaining that this update came SO SOON. Really? It's Mind bottling. I hope that you get the support needed from what I believe is the majority of destiny players. Maybe one of these days people will accept the fact that this isn't WOW (thank god). Keep up the good work bungie!

I'll wait to give final opinion tho I have to say that resetting kind if stinks. Yes we'll get them at 300 to then level up, but kind of annoying. Anyway, we'll see.
-
Get rid of the reset of the progress. Its a stupid way to create more game time. We are going to be grinding anyways. And we can only do about 3 guns a week. So the people that have all 20 exotics would take them 7 weeks to have those re-upgraded plus the time it takes to upgrade new legendary and exotics we get along the way.
-
I'm curious as to what the logic behind needing 'commendations' to buy Vanguard and Crucible gear was. The limitation on that gear is already in place with how many marks we can get each week. I'm also way more bummed about not being able to take my legendaries with me than my exotics. My favorite guns are nearly all legendaries (outside my Suros and Thorn).
-
7 RepliesLol, whoever was playing probably just stopped. No point really since everything is either going to become obsolete or you have to re-upgrade something.
-
Oh wow so everyday I logged on to do daily on each character. I have a ps4 and Xbox one with over 900 hours just on the xbox. Your telling me all my ascendant materials will pretty much be worthless that I spent days , months if you can't my play time. All the hours on raid to get materials that will just be useless now?? All that time and effort. (Flushes toilet ). Then to upgrade a exotic I have to relevel it. Oh no way I have stuck by this game but no way in hell will I regrind all that again. So basically I should have stopped playing months ago when I had all my classes reach 30. Bra cure everything is just a waste now. I am so disappointed I was going to rock on with destiny bought both expansions and was excited. Well I am not regrinding all my weapons and I have a crap ton. Way to many to go through that process. I wish I didn't buy that expansion pass if I only would have knew. We should have a skill tree added on to the weapons not have to start all over. How about a choice of reforging and a added skill tree to weapons. How about all that that's earned materials be used to upgrade to a higher level instead of losing everything. I am in such disbelief. I have so much invested in this game and almost everything. I stay up for days sometimes. I never thought something would push me away from playing. Well this is it and I can imagine others who have just a few items or have almost everything like me and maxed will not be very happy. Well I guess my wife will be happy and I'll be getting more stuff done. I'm glad I can still return my ps4 destiny edition since it was a holiday purchase :) Gt on ps4 xyor1 Gt on Xbox New Mexico lobo.

Edited by StockyStockton: 12/4/2014 4:40:50 PMHey Deej, first thanks for actually asking the community directly Everything sounds good to me, just one thing. Why are you resetting the progress on exotics when you upgrade them to the dark below expansion, to me that's pretty frustrating, since iv spent quite a bit of time trying to upgrade them and since I'm probably going to have to upgrade them because I'm probably going to have to, what's the reasons for resetting progress? I don't really have any other issues apart from the lack of content and game modes... Yeah you should probably pull Activations money grabbing hand out of your face and release some free maps, or just more with the expansions....

1 Replyi have 18 exotics LMFAO@BUNGIE i really enjoy this game and i have really enjoyed leveling up most of those exotics( armor and weapons ) to their maximum potential hawkmoon mida tool truth gjallahorn hardlight also i have maximized all available exotic gear for my titan . so am i supposed to now spend another 2 months leveling those weapons and armor up AGAIN so that in another 2 months i have to have them reset and upgraded AGAIN for the house of wolves expansion ? how many times next year am i gonna have to upgrade my hawkmoon for 7 strange coins and 7000 glimmer ??? and for the exotics that i have not even started on ( which it now seems i wont have the time to do because i am working on resetting and re-upgrading my choice few ) i have to pay xur 7000 and 7 strange coins plus a week of my time for each one ??? REALLY ?

so all other armour we have worked on from faction etc will be pretty much useless ? or will we be able to upgrade our old amour too? Do I stop upgrading my faction legendary armour?
-
Well, for starters, you guys need to rework the way this is being done. 99% of your player base is disgruntled in one way or another with the Exotic upgrades and how they are being handled. You guys need to figure out a new system. Quickly. Else there is going to be a major drop-off in the community and people will move on to other games (DA:I, FC4, GTA5, Halo, etc.).

I feel the overall concept of allowing us to upgrade our exotics to keep them relevant with the current raids is a great thing. I put a lot of time and sometimes effort(bounty exotics) into these weapons, and I enjoy some of the exclusive weapon perks they offer. I'd have been disappointed to find out all of those exotics were only good for breaking down for parts. I find 2 big issues with the whole situation - that it will be random chance as to when I can upgrade my exotic, and even then I'll have to start all over and lose those unique weapon perks that made the exotic weapon exotic. It seems like a poor design that only hurts those who have spent the time leveling their weapon to the max, they put time and materials into a weapon and now they get to do it again, where someone who never leveled the weapon can upgrade it and start from the same point. For the randomness of when I get to upgrade my exotic, I feel a better method would have been to have Xur just sell items that are unique to the weapon/armor type (Primary Exotic Upgrade Kit, Special Weapon Exotic Upgrade Kit, and so on). There could be a limitation on them, maybe 1 weapon and 1 armor a week, or 1 exotic upgrade in total per week, and the cost could even be expensive, something close to the normal cost of an exotic weapon/armor. But why limit me to the random choices that Xur offers, all it means is that my preferred choice of weapon or armor might not come around for a couple weeks, and what happens if the weekend he offers my upgrade I'm not available? As for resetting the weapons when you upgrade them, I don't get why there can't be 3 new upgrades added on when you do the exotic upgrade. This will benefit anyone that has already leveled up their weapon/armor as they'll only have 3 new upgrades to do, with the final upgrade costing an exotic shard again. For anyone that has a new or unleveled exotic, they have to start from the beginning just like everyone else and do the exotic upgrade whenever they want/can afford it from Xur. There would see no benefit of the exotic upgrade until they max the weapon/armor at that first exotic shard upgrade, but that makes no difference as they never had the weapon there before.
-
I finally completed the raid for the first time, received nothing but shards/energy (was cool with that, I needed them). The week before I tried it and didn't finish it but received two legendary weapons, raid boots, and the legendary titan mark. I am not a high enough level to do hard mode, but the quickest way to get ascendant mats is through the raid. I understand being "locked out" from getting gear drops once a week, but perhaps there should be some sort of reward replaying it before the reset. I probably won't play the game at all until the reset now because I can't do hard mode, gathering enough ascendant mats would take me the rest of the week anyways, so I am better off waiting til it is reset. Not sure if there is any other game out there where it is easier NOT to play it at the moment.
-
Everyone keeps taking about the wasted time/ mats/etc, but that's not hitting what's really wrong with the new upgrade concept. As we all know, we will go to great lengths to acquire xp and mats to upgrade. If they were to add a perk and a damage upgrade node which required 100k exp, 20 energies, and 20,000 glimmer, no one would complain. Instead, that would give us great incentive to sit down and grind it out, and a justly rewarding feeling when done. But that's not the case. Why is leveling an exotic fun? For me, it's great to start to unlock perks, and discover how they can fit in with my play style. This is the Only reason I've been playing for the last month now. And yet, we've already done all this. Resetting an exotic doesn't add any new excitement to the grind. It just takes away all the perks you've already earned and optimized your play style to, so that you can earn them again. Why? Seriously, how did anyone think that would be fun or a good idea? Why not give the option to pick a new perk upon upgrade? At least something besides making your exotic vanilla again just to acquire one damage upgrade. Jesus.
-
DeeJ, I understand why you guys are doing this, but we've only had our hands on the game for 3 months and want to enjoy our exotics for at least a little bit longer. Many of us haven't even begun playing and exploring our current exotics enough because we've been too busy maxing them out. This is only going to lead to players using a limited amount of weapons from here on out for fear of the same thing happening in the next expansion. The joy of acquiring new exotics has just been diminished.
-
Needs a fix, IMO best one so far seems like go to xur for node upgrade, X strange coins, which is a higher exp capacity node that costs to upgrade, 1 exotic shard and X material and X glimmer cause making us regrind is not gonna happen, on top if you're thinking of having the needed xp to upgrade lessened that would mean I put it time and effort while helping keep your games ratings up, going through the ropes and grinding the stone, just to have you slap me in the face and penalize me for dedication, all that said, it can't be enstated in the form that is being presented and still retain a vast majority of early post lauch players.
-
1 ReplyAssassins Creed and Halo are looking better and better think I'm gonna step away from this Bungie fiasco until they figure out what they are going do with the game because apparently from what I can tell they themselves do not have a clue about what they are going to do with the game from day to day, one day we upgrade using exotic shards, the next day "oh we didn't tell you that your weapons will be reset? so don't bother in wasting shards" it is like a bad dream, why would they do this after all the problems they are having with the glitches on atheon, and during the raids and different things now they hit us with this. I don't believe it is worth playing the expansion I figured something like this would happen and I have held off buying the DLC and now I'm glad that I did.
-
So no point maxing out exotics if you are going to upgrade them to V2.0?
-
There are better solutions then just to rip out all of our time we put into a single exotic weapon than just eliminating all that time, like the man below me said, just add a new weapon/armor circle and have xur sell the material to activate the upgrade This is simple gameplay padding But also even if you are doing this, what do we get for giving you a fully upgraded exotic that took days, sometimes weeks, to upgrade and have us upgrade it again? If you at least give us SOMETHING in return that equates this HUGE loss of effort on the player's part, then maybe JUST maybe it would be worth it.
-
2 RepliesThere's a pic of xur and it looks like he is selling bad juju and super good advice, so will xur now sell bounty exotics?
-
Edited by Fenran1: 12/4/2014 4:34:05 PMAnd what about the rep system? Are we going to receive a commendation for each of one of our rep levels or are we going to lose them? I'm vanguard rep level 5, I've only one character, and it was hard to raise the rep level, just for realize that now I need commendations to continue purchasing items!!!! For the vanguard? I've killed and raised the vanguard reputation over the galaxy, but I need a commendation to buy? It's a joke...
-
2 RepliesJust make it so we can upgrade whichever exotic we want (for a set amount of coins if you guys really have to make us farm in some way), the way it is now is a waste of time. Something you guys need to do if you really want to make this game better is get rid of the excessive randomness/tedious farming. Also, I think the commendations thing is stupid. It already takes enough time to gain the marks needed to buy certain armor/weapons, why make us wait for a level just to buy something? Then on top of that, we can only buy one thing at a time because it takes a while to rank up the vendor in the first place.
-
All I'm saying and the reason everyone is pissed is, a person that spent the time and leveled the exotic, should be worth more than one that has no time/ unleveled. Rather it be a discount on the glimmer cost if 7k, not needing an exotic shard if the one you are trading in is maxed out. Or half of your progress is unlocked on the new weapon
-
I think the idea of being able to upgrade exotics to keep them relevant is great. I also think that if you don't want to turn in your fully upgraded Ice Breaker to get a new one with higher stats on the condition that you start the process over... THEN DON'T! It's an optional feature. If it is that much of a pain to you, pretend like they never introduced the feature, and go and collect the new exotics with the DLC. Besides, typically when you level up you need new gear, and when you get new gear you upgrade it. Now the difference is, if you really like the exotic gear you have, Bungie is allowing you to keep using it. Instead of having to cross your fingers and hope that you get an exotic (and that it is one you like) you can keep the ones you have... at a cost. Which brings me to what I imagine is causing most of the outrage. The timing on this announcement is horrible on Bungie's part. Why update the system to introduce exotic shards, then a week later mention the new system, which could have saved people some trouble/gear/glimmer? Maybe to offset this they could make it so when you turn in a weapon that is fully upgraded Xur will give you the new weapon and have it be partially upgraded already. Or maybe make it free to turn in a fully upgraded weapon for the new one that needs to be re-leveled, and impose the shard/glimmer cost on weapons that haven't been leveled up. I feel like there needs to be something to compensate all the work that has gone into the weapons, especially the people who put in all the work since the introduction of the exotic shard system. But seriously the dramatics in this community are ridiculous right now. You're not quitting, Bungie is not "slapping you in the face," you're not taking your game to gamestop to trade in. If you are, then great do it already. I personally enjoy the game, and I love that Bungie is trying to improve it after release. The way video games are being made now is evolving. Five years ago when a game came out you got what was on the disc and that was it. That was your game, and maybe some DLC down the road, but never any game changing mechanics updates. So this is still a work in progress. Bungie is working on making the game better. Why would they purposefully introduce a feature to make their paying customers angry. Please don't tell me it's to increase the longevity, because you can keep playing the game without using this feature. The point is they're trying, and just because no one has replied to anything in this thread doesn't mean they're not taking into account.

Resetting the whole weapon doesn't make any sense. Why not just 'reset' the last three damage nodes and leave exotic leveling as-it-is. That-way exotics still keep their perks (remaining viable for content while leveling), the damage for each weapon upon resetting stays at 300, but the damage nodes raise it to DLC appropriate levels. Think about this in the context of the game. Why would we have to re-unlock what are essentially 'learned skills' with a particular weapon? What 'needs to change' about the weapon for the new content isnt how the weapon performs, but rather how much damage it's doing. Just make us re-level an exotics damage rating, not its perks.

Edited by ramrodrigues: 12/4/2014 4:32:22 PMGuys.. We are getting lost in semantics here. Is it a reset or not??? Who cares!!! That's not the REAL issue here. I have 2 Patience and Time, one bought from Xur and fully upgraded and the other droped on the last nightfall. Is it fair that now I can have two "new exotic" P&T despite one not being fully upgraded?
-
I get what you are trying to do and I dont have much of a problem with it, but it is going to take me a lot of time to upgrade and re-improve my Exotic Gear... A bit of a pain really... Not everyone will have the patience for it I guess.
