So, AC Unity isn't great, at all. Regret the purchase.
I wonder why most of the most hyped up AAA games suck this year.
Games like AC Unity, Watchdogs, Destiny, Titanfall all had my hopes up just to be somewhat let down.
You guys may have your opinion but that's mine.
They just don't feel next gen, maybe because of the old gen system holding the games back, idk.
EDIT: AC Unity, obviously isn't held back by last gen. Didn't think I had to specifically explain that.
EDIT 2: Hype does not make a good game bad, nor can it make a bad game good. Quit trying to associate bad games with hype.

My expectations for AC games are the same for COD. I expect the same game each time. If they change something to make it different and more fun, it's a surprise and I'm happy.
-
Didn't Microsoft make a deal with ubisoft to make all games after watchdogs to have the same graphics on all systems??

1 ReplyI just have to say I remember playing games and not giving a shit what problems they had or how immersive they were. Do you think any games from the 1970s to late 90's were even remotely solid experiences that played without a hitch? Hell some games didn't have stories that consisted of more then two paragraphs in a manual but hell they were fun. Mario is a perfect example. Save princess peach period. I am speaking to everyone and not just to the op. My point is that games use to be a place that you could go and fight for something righteous or dastardly and be damn glad you were some where other then planet earth. They are still the same games. i've played super mario 100 times yet it isn't a piece of shit game. It also has several game breaking bugs and other flaws. I feel we as gamers want more and more and are never satisfied. We are the problem. We grew up and now we are the assholes we promised ourselves we wouldn't be. Thats how I feel anyway and I am also at fault for this as well.

3 Repliesi fear for Halo 5, the beta looks so good, but Destiny looked good too
-
4 RepliesSo, out of curiosity, what disappointed you the most?
-
2 RepliesI swear if there is just one post like this when inquisition comes out, and it's not a letdown, then I'm not coming back to these forums. People have these horrible expectations for "next gen". Not every game has to actually innovate an industry shaking idea in order for it to be worthwhile. Halo:combat evolved, up to Destiny are all pretty similar and are across three generation, but I enjoyed every game because they are fun
-
Do you have high expectations.

Edited by JOSH55886: 11/13/2014 3:49:04 AMI'm enjoying it. Framerate fluctuation is annoying though. Don't worry though. Dragon Age will save us all when it's out next Tuesday.

1 ReplyEdited by BtG Woody: 11/13/2014 3:40:50 AMOut of curiousity, what's wrong with AC Unity? I gave up on the franchise when it turned into Pirates of the Caribbean. I beat AC3, but had to force myself to finish it. Black Flag was the first AC game I didn't finish since the original. Unity looked alright, but Ubisoft is just milking the franchise at this point and I refuse to give them anymore of my money.
-
12 RepliesIf AC Unity doesn't satisfy you I don't know what game will. Other than slight frame rate drops, it's an imaginative game that changes up the AC formula. I know everyone has their own opinions but there's a point where people are asking for way more than their moneys worth.

3 RepliesEdited by InstaGood: 11/13/2014 2:59:21 AMThe hype itself builds you up for a let down. It's unfortunate but when you let yourself get hyped up for a product, it rarely delivers to your expectations simply because you allowed your expectations to be built up in excess of what is possible in reality. In most cases, we as gamers actually do this to ourselves. In the case of AC Unity... it's Assassin's Creed. It's going to be the same formula as all the previous games, with minor tweaks. AC games are always solid but burnout factor is high since they now release multiple games per year. Stop yourself from consuming every last bit of info about a game you're looking forward to. Allow yourself to be surprised and you'll find yourself enjoying games a lot more.

Yeah the only game I feel didn't have much hype around it was Shadow of Mordor, and that game is awesome! I have to get into it more I always end up running around slaughtering uruks lol
-
Honestly. I feel like it's because we are growing up, you just lose interest in shit like that.
-
Games aren't made for gamers anymore. Now the developers focus more for the casual gamers look at destiny same crap over n over. If they could these developers now a day would make every game like candy crush because that's they're focus group

6 RepliesI 100 percent watchdogs. I loved the digital trips
-
2 RepliesI somewhat agree with you on unity but I'm still enjoying it. To me what makes the game annoying is the new parkour system. Constantly getting stuck on objects or especially when just trying to climb through a window. Combat is nice since its difficult but I hate how it makes me feel like a bitch running away so much. Also when the guards finally realize they can use guns, they all use it at the exact same time -_-
-
2 RepliesI liked watch dogs, however I didn't see the original e3 so I didn't have any hype for the game
not having hype is the key to having fun and not being disappointed
-
Came into AC at 3 and thought it was alright. Black Flag is in my top 5 favorite games and looking forward to Unity.
-
I disagree with your opinion of AC Unity, but honestly I've pretty much felt the series was shit except for the original and Black Flag, so I didn't really expect much. Got it for the Co-op and I was really surprised by how much i liked the campaign.
-
Maybe could you elaborate on your opinion offering why it wasn't good for you.
-
I don't know about you, but I'm absolutely loving AC Unity. I do agree that most games have been let downs as of yet, though. It's quite disheartening.
-
Developers and publishers should shoulder some of the blame, but the media should as well - particularly sites like IGN which make out every new AAA title to be the whip to your cream. I used to play video games which received miserable review scores, and I thoroughly enjoyed them. Why? Well... it was long ago, and internet journalism hadn't really taken off. I was oblivious to first impressions, previews, reviews, trailers, etc. I bought a game because it looked fun. If it was even remotely close to that, I was pleased with my purchase. Nowadays, we're offered screenshots, trailers, hands-on impressions, behind-closed-doors impressions, gaming conventions, opinion previews, etc, and it's all available within a moment's notice. Of course we're going to be a more disappointed bunch. We're exposed to titles two years before they're set to launch, giving our imaginations plenty of time to wander off and create the game we want it to be (which is very often different from the game it turns out to be). Put another way, if you had not been overexposed to information about AC: Unity, would you have been disappointed? Probably not, but then, you may not have purchased it either. This is the game developers and media play (yes, media, because they'd be out of business if publishers did poorly and the video game market tanked). Hype a game enough to drive pre-orders. Who cares if people end up disappointed? If pre-orders can come close to covering the costs, then the rest can be made up up after launch even if review scores are poor.
-
1 ReplyIt's obviously the old Gen systems holding back the potential in current Gen games. That's why all these games are let downs. That and the huge amount of hype the publishers create. And the insane amount of money spent on marketing. ($250 million for marketing destiny? Holy $&#@!!!!!)
-
Yeah i never really got the point of a coop AC game. its already the easiest AAA series out there, why would it be better to play with others?
-
This is why I no longer preorder games and gave these new gen consoles a year.
