This is an absolute joke.... This may be the thinnest DLC I've seen. Even COD's abysmal DLC has more content for the price. This is not a good sign... (Let me clarify that I don't/won't buy COD DLC because it is also trash. I used this to compare how terrible this DLC is. So sayin COD has MORE content was wrong. It doesn't change the fact that The Dark Below is a F*kin joke).
" Bungie has announced Destiny's first expansion, The Dark Below, will be available on December 9 for $19.99 / £19.99 as a standalone purchase, or as part of the $34.99 / £34.99 Season pass which also offers the second expansion, House of Wolves.
The developer has also gone into details about what new content we'll be seeing to justify that purchase price. Along with the expected new weapons and armour, the Light Level cap will raise to 32 with five new bounty slots also added.
The expanded story will apparently focus on new character Eris, who has spent years hiding among the Hive only to come forward bearing a warning. The Hive are apparently trying to summon a god, Crota, to destroy Earth. Eris will be found in the Tower where she'll offer you special quests including three new missions where you can increase your Light and get new rewards.
Other additions include a new co-operative Strike, The Will of Crota, which pits you against Omnigul as she works to expand Crota's Hive army, and a new six-player Raid, Crota's End, where you enter the Hellmouth presumably to take the deity on.
On the PvP front, there are three new arenas: Pantheon, set in the Black Garden inside a Vex temple with tight corridors; Skyshock, an old interplanetary defense array; and The Cauldron, an abandoned Hive ritual site focused on close combat.
Additionally, PlayStation platforms will get another co-operative Strike called The Undying Mind."
( Does Everyone agree that this is entirely too little content and isn't enough to keep this game fresh and interesting)..... 3 NEW STORY MISSIONS!!!! What a joke... 1 NEW COOP STRIKE....... 1 RAID..... and 3 PVP Maps (big surprise they're all CQC).
Edit: I'm truly shocked at how ignorant and willing to bend over some of you gamers are. You're allowing the industry to grab you by the nuts and tell you "This is how it's going to be and you're just going to deal with it". Look at some of these "patches" that have been released. They are purposely making the game more grindy to make it appear as though there is more content than is actually there. You can still enjoy the game and admit that it's lackluster and this DLC is paper thin. Hell, I enjoyed the game for a few weeks but I can't justify rinsing and repeating anymore. I can't tell if some of you are simple minded or if your ego is so big you can't admit when your being jerked around. To the peoples' eyes who are open to what's going on I thank you for your comments. It's painfully obvious smart gamers are now the minority and we are going to be subjected to this type of publishing going forward. Bungie doesn't give 2 sh*ts about what we think in all honesty, as long as they look at their numbers and see 3.2 mill people playing. That's what they'll hang their hat on. If only they could look into the minds of those people playing and see what they're thinking. I would bet anything that this time next month Bungie won't be throwing the number 3.2 mill around anymore because that number is going to drop considerably...... If anyone has taken the time to read some of the recent reviews online, it is obvious that these people were paid off in some sort of way. I read one yesterday where the headline was something like "Bungie adds a ton of new content to the already lush world of Destiny"...... Like the game or not, that is a false statement. I really like the gamer's quote from that Live Video game streaming house that read "We already have so much to do in Destiny, what we'd really like are just some more ways to enjoy the content we already have".... REALLY? You'd enjoy doing the same freaking strikes again if they add another modifier? I especially enjoy the new Septiks White Flag modifier. Prime is so tired of being killed a millions times a day, when you reach him in the strike he just blows up.

Not happy jan

Can't wait. Ps4 owners get the real expansion.

1 Replyone character with nothing but crucable gear and not even above lvl 26. the joke is that you think you are playing a PvP game. switch games before you waste your money anymore.
-
2 RepliesI love this game and I'll have fun playing this paid DLC. PERIOD!!! So much negativity around here. Yawn

3 RepliesPlaystation plus does cost money. It's like $5/month for 6 months, or $10/month per month. I only play destiny on my ps4, so essentially there is a subscription fee for destiny.
-
Seems like a fair price for the amount of content. Sounds fun too.
-
It's a bit of trash :p But if you got the money then why not. Im a bit disappointed. Maybe $15 would be a better/decent price

4 RepliesCan I get s source on all this "raising cap to 32" business? That's insane.
-
1 ReplySo what happens when I don't buy this DLC but buy the one after. Am I going to have gaps in the story? Seems like that would be the logical thing to do. Skip directly to grinding for level 33-34 gear.
-
If Erris was there hiding that time my group wiped on summoning pits and didn't help, I am going to slap her.
-
I do hate that we have to pay to get to level 32

43 RepliesEdited by ghozzt: 10/29/2014 8:03:05 PMWould you rather pay $15 a month, have a shitty cash shop that makes the game pay to win, or buy DLC every 3 months for 20 bucks? People love to use borderlands as a good comparison for this game and how DLC is done. But borderlands is not always online. It doesnt cost anything to run borderlands once its put out. Destiny may not be an MMO in the traditional sense, but its built on an MMOs framework, with an MMOs end game, with an MMOs cost to upkeep. And MMOs either have cash shops, subs, or payed for expansions and sometimes all of the above. So people can argue all they want that destiny isnt an MMO because everyone is sharded into different small servers. But there was another game that was done very similarly. The first guild wars. And no one ever complained about that. Do I want more content. Hell yes. Is this expansion light on it, yes and no. The lack of story missions is my only real disappointment But coming from a background in MMOs, I would of normally already payed $45 by the time this expansion comes out, I would of probably had none or very little new content, and I would be doing the same thing Im doing in destiny. Running the same few dungeons, doing dailies/weeklies, running the one raid available once a week, PVP, and probably crafting of some kind. Bounties will be the parallel to that. I know coming from a console shooter background this all seems crazy, but its not.

Don't compare this to a cod dlc. Cod is based around multiplayer this game is based on pve more then pvp. There should be more content then 3 missions and a strike especially after the shitty story they sold to us and the lack of content to begin with. Yay we get one more strike to grind! (Sarcasm) watch the next missions be horde mood again... And another bullet sponge boss for the strike. These missions and this strike better be the best I've ever played I'm telling you that much. Gta 5 had more content for their free dlc then this has. Bunch of greedy bastards. It should be 3 strikes, 10 missions, and a raid the single raid is fine for me. The 3 multiplayer maps are also fine. They should of added a new weapon type. New areas in the tower opened. It's going to be the same repetitive game. Also it should come out sooner since it's such little content.

It's really just sad, this was bungie's chance to win back the community, and they use it as an opportunity to trade in the last of their credibility.

Every time I see the word COD, I smell frying fish.

As an FPSMMORPG, this game has failed to meet expectations. However, as a Space CoD, this game is on par. It's just too bad Bungie churned out a Space CoD, and not the "Border Halo Lands of Warcraft Online" that they hyped it to be.

I should have bought Borderlands >.>

36 RepliesEdited by JayMadIV: 10/29/2014 6:14:36 PMThis is just about the typical size of DLC. A little less, in fact. It isn't an expansion, regardless of Bungie's marketing. It is just DLC. Like DLC for any other game. Nothing special. That said, all the sheep bleating about "get a job" are missing the point. Oh, and before you fools start bleating at me, I already bought the DLC pass. The Dark Below is being labeled and promoted as an Expansion. But the amount of Content it will provide is less than even a FREE update in any standard MMO. And though no one wants to say it, more than likely the DLC consists of content that was meant for release but got cut in order to remake it. Did you read the patch notes for the FF XIV update yesterday? Puts Destiny's "expansion" to shame. New class, with a complete storyline for it New raids. With an S. New Primal fight. New Hard Mode dungeons(with a new storyline and bosses for each) New crafting recipes. New main story questlines. Multiple new side questlines. And this is just a free patch. Not paid DLC or Expansion. The Dark Below is indeed light on content. But if you did not expect this, you haven't been paying attention. The first 2 Destiny DLCs will likely consist of the reworked cut content. Then we will get a real expansion.

1 ReplyWhen you buy CoD DLC, you get multiplayer maps. That's it! Why is everyone complaining? We knew exactly what we were going to get before destiny was even released. Just because ps4 gets an extra strike doesn't make it any worse. You still get more in this DLC, than in a plethora of other games. Hell, you paid $400 for a console. if you can't justify paying $20, then don't, but don't complain about it.

2 Replies3 missions? That can't be right

11 RepliesEdited by l Beanie l: 10/29/2014 9:06:41 PMNo conversion in currency? So they're charging $19.99 in the US and $ 32.00 in the UK? LOL. This can't be right. That would be taking the piss. It's such a small dlc too! Wow..
-
Back to Halo I go. Also deleting this terrible game off my drive, because I'm not willing to spend an extra $20 on a $60 sub-par game.

Edited by Xzarnu: 10/29/2014 9:28:43 PM"Waaaaaaaaah! $20?!? Do you know how many chores i will have to do to earn $20? Like 4! That's like over 2 hours of work! Waaaaaah! Work! Waaaaah!" Shut you damned mouth you entitled little brat! if you're too damned lazy to get your ass up and earn $20 then by all means please smack yourself! The world has enough of you whiney entitled brats! I'm going to buy the dlc an extra time for everytime i see one of these threads pop up just out of principal.

Edited by Trezomnar: 10/29/2014 9:23:03 PMThought I'd share. I am on PS, but I think this is pretty lame how people are getting less out of a paid DLC. http://kotaku.com/destinys-new-dlc-kinda-screws-over-xbox-players-1652294153?utm_campaign=Socialflow_Kotaku_Facebook&utm_source=Kotaku_Facebook&utm_medium=Socialflow
