This is an absolute joke.... This may be the thinnest DLC I've seen. Even COD's abysmal DLC has more content for the price. This is not a good sign... (Let me clarify that I don't/won't buy COD DLC because it is also trash. I used this to compare how terrible this DLC is. So sayin COD has MORE content was wrong. It doesn't change the fact that The Dark Below is a F*kin joke).
" Bungie has announced Destiny's first expansion, The Dark Below, will be available on December 9 for $19.99 / £19.99 as a standalone purchase, or as part of the $34.99 / £34.99 Season pass which also offers the second expansion, House of Wolves.
The developer has also gone into details about what new content we'll be seeing to justify that purchase price. Along with the expected new weapons and armour, the Light Level cap will raise to 32 with five new bounty slots also added.
The expanded story will apparently focus on new character Eris, who has spent years hiding among the Hive only to come forward bearing a warning. The Hive are apparently trying to summon a god, Crota, to destroy Earth. Eris will be found in the Tower where she'll offer you special quests including three new missions where you can increase your Light and get new rewards.
Other additions include a new co-operative Strike, The Will of Crota, which pits you against Omnigul as she works to expand Crota's Hive army, and a new six-player Raid, Crota's End, where you enter the Hellmouth presumably to take the deity on.
On the PvP front, there are three new arenas: Pantheon, set in the Black Garden inside a Vex temple with tight corridors; Skyshock, an old interplanetary defense array; and The Cauldron, an abandoned Hive ritual site focused on close combat.
Additionally, PlayStation platforms will get another co-operative Strike called The Undying Mind."
( Does Everyone agree that this is entirely too little content and isn't enough to keep this game fresh and interesting)..... 3 NEW STORY MISSIONS!!!! What a joke... 1 NEW COOP STRIKE....... 1 RAID..... and 3 PVP Maps (big surprise they're all CQC).
Edit: I'm truly shocked at how ignorant and willing to bend over some of you gamers are. You're allowing the industry to grab you by the nuts and tell you "This is how it's going to be and you're just going to deal with it". Look at some of these "patches" that have been released. They are purposely making the game more grindy to make it appear as though there is more content than is actually there. You can still enjoy the game and admit that it's lackluster and this DLC is paper thin. Hell, I enjoyed the game for a few weeks but I can't justify rinsing and repeating anymore. I can't tell if some of you are simple minded or if your ego is so big you can't admit when your being jerked around. To the peoples' eyes who are open to what's going on I thank you for your comments. It's painfully obvious smart gamers are now the minority and we are going to be subjected to this type of publishing going forward. Bungie doesn't give 2 sh*ts about what we think in all honesty, as long as they look at their numbers and see 3.2 mill people playing. That's what they'll hang their hat on. If only they could look into the minds of those people playing and see what they're thinking. I would bet anything that this time next month Bungie won't be throwing the number 3.2 mill around anymore because that number is going to drop considerably...... If anyone has taken the time to read some of the recent reviews online, it is obvious that these people were paid off in some sort of way. I read one yesterday where the headline was something like "Bungie adds a ton of new content to the already lush world of Destiny"...... Like the game or not, that is a false statement. I really like the gamer's quote from that Live Video game streaming house that read "We already have so much to do in Destiny, what we'd really like are just some more ways to enjoy the content we already have".... REALLY? You'd enjoy doing the same freaking strikes again if they add another modifier? I especially enjoy the new Septiks White Flag modifier. Prime is so tired of being killed a millions times a day, when you reach him in the strike he just blows up.

I love Destiny, but IMO it wasn't ready for release until next year. Something happened with the story for sure, could be why the release date was pushed back from June to Sept. I'll keep playing, but I dread December when I have to grind new gear all over again.

2 RepliesEdited by Jeh : 10/29/2014 5:51:48 PMMmm... The exclusivity of another strike on playstation platforms is a little disheartening. As an Xbox user the strikes available become very stale and gaining another two would have been great... The amount of content as a whole seems good to me though.
-
3 RepliesI'm quite happy with the amount of content, except for the PS exclusive. All in all i hate the concept of exclusives altogether., and the fact that we will get it in a year..... ridiculous. If Bungie told me that we would get it in a month or 2, i'd say fair enough, other games have done that with DLC, but a whole year. I don't care about console wars, i don't care if PS has been more successful with it's advertising and promotion and i don't care if the PC Aryan Race think they are better than everyone. What i care about is fun, to me less content means less fun. If Bungie keeps reserving one strike from every DLC for the PS players for a year, then the Xbox players will be left with a considerable chunk of content missing. If that happens then i'm going to get bored faster and by the time we get that strike, i'll not care about Destiny anymore, because i will have found other games that are more entertaining. I might pop the disk in and try the strike and anything else we get once, but after that i'll go back to whatever has come out and is more entertaining. This is a shame as well because I really wanted Destiny to be THE game. The game that i loved the most above all others. Sadly because of their business deal with Sony, it will take a lot ( or very little) to redeem this game. ( but it's not like they will even care what one person out of millions thinks, as long as their sony overlords can trick some people into buying a PS4 because of exclusive content)
-
On paper that looks GREATTTT! Can't wait until I can buy it. For the entertainment value, this (Destiny) is the best bang for the buck I've spent in the past 10 years.
-
2 RepliesI see that sony and/or Activision are screwing over the uk players. $ and £ bit 19.99.... What happened to proper conversion rates.
-
19 RepliesI don't see the point of adding another raid when the existing one is still so inaccessible. Most of us don't have 5 friends, all playing the same game, at the same level, with the same counsel, at the same time. Please, for pity's sake, make some sort of raid finder so most of us can find people to fill 6 man groups!

Using CoD as an example doesn't justify much. Lets take a game that's an RPG, like Destiny is (supposed to be) How much was Oblivions Expansions? Like 20-30$? The reason is that bungie isn't marketing this as DLC, it's marketing it as an expansion. Oblivians Expansion, The Shivering Isles, what did you get? New overworld, weapons, quests, armor, characters, spells, enemies, etc... What does destiny give you? Some weapons, level cap increase (by only 2, mind you), 2 strikes, (1 if you're an xbox user), like, 4 missions, and a raid. Now lets take the time that it will take you to do all of this. Shivering Isles had about 9-11 hours of new content, maybe even more, i don't remember, it's been a while. In destiny, the longest thing will be the raid, which for most people, will take about 2-4 hours, the strikes are about 40 mins each and missions are about 20-30. This is assuming the missions will be the same bland, boring missions from vanilla. I'm sure alot of you can see the problem here. "Horse armor" But they made up for it, sure, we can give bungie the benefit of the doubt, but who says that House of Wolves will be any better? If anything, it'll be the same things from the first expansion cut and pasted. You can go ahead and buy the Expansion if you don't care, go ahead, keep farming for spirit bloom on Venus for the 100th time after the expansion has come out, keep doing the same monotonous tasks for armor you'll never be given because of terrible loot systems. An expansion will never fix an already broken game, it'll just mask the stench for a few hours.

I KNEW u were on XBOX coz of the way u cry whinge and carry on.
-
You've obviously no idea what's in a COD DLC :)
-
So.. How is this "less" than a CoD addon/expansion? This is way more than cod ever does at one time...
-
Edited by somedude1920: 10/30/2014 1:16:22 AMA lot more then cod if you don't like it don't buy it. Your bitching about the dlc but I know and you know you will end up buying it.

4 Replies"Eris will be found in the Tower where she'll offer you special quests including three new missions where you can increase your Light and get new rewards" This line interests me the most. Sounds like there could be 3 bits of Raid style armour up for grabs for doing the 3 missions, to increase your light to level 30 maybe?
-
At least the armor and weapons aren't copy and paste with new shaders. They actually look somewhat different!
-
True shit
-
Boo this content is not enough we should basically get he same amount we first got
-
And the crying begins...
-
Where is 3rd subclass?
-
I too was disappointed, so I decided to research that Eris chick and found some cool stuff. Now I'm kinda excited again. http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/75843437/0/0
-
I'm just wondering why anyone would expect anything more after the poor release content.
-
I can't imagine Bungie would have made a game with such a cryptic "storyline." Take Halo for example; there was a clue of where everything was going, but some things were kept mysterious to keep everyone guessing and wanting more. With Destiny I can't help but believe all of this content was supposed to be released on launch day creating another one of their magnificent scifi adventures. I think we have to blame the greedy pockets of Activision for this broken story which I believe was once amazing when being developed.

3 RepliesThe DLC is severely lacking. I don't even think I'll buy it. It's not going to last long. The missions will be done in a day, including the ONE measly strike. The raid will take a week or less to complete. This is horrible.
-
!!!! I think we all felt it coming. Still.

1 ReplyEdited by Silvablade: 10/29/2014 10:28:31 PMThere is a lot of controversy on this. I was hoping to shed some light and share my point of view. It doesn't matter that a movie is about the same cost as the expansion because it is comparing apples and oranges. That is like saying no one should ever complain about the price of a movie compared to getting a lapdance because that is 20$ for three minutes. It's nonsensical. $50 for an MMO expansion is the real comparison because it is the closest comparison in the industry. For most games that covers months and months of content, new worlds and regions to explore, new levels and talents, new items, new PvP etc etc. So the reason people are complaining and feeling slighted is because it is well below the market norm. They have good reason to complain, and should continue to do so. It's important that the market speak its mind. This game has a fun base, but most people were starved for content within a week or two. It was released bare bones with DLC only two months out. Even then, no new planets, only 3 missions, limited PvP modes, etc, etc. In addition to that, players on XBox pay the exact same amount for less content? That is ridiculous. I am on the playstation, but you must see how wrong that is? It shows that all they care about is a pricepoint timeline. Not value provided. That shows a lack of care for the gamers themselves. Not all of bungie naturally, but those making these financial decision. The first DLC should have been free to make the game feel more complete. Then people would have felt better. Don't get me wrong. People do need to provide constructive feedback, speak with their wallets, and critically think about the amount of enjoyment they get for the money, but the analogy that most people use about the cost of a movie is a bad comparison. If that is a fair comparison then you can just as easily say that the cost of a movie is far too expensive. It should cost $.40 total since you can get 100 hours out of a video game that costs $20 setting the price at $.20 an hour for entertainment. This is more about feeling like you got your monies worth, and although this is exceptionally designed and a strong base, it locks in execution, delivery, and content. I personally don't feel like I got my monies worth. At the same time, and to play devil's advocate, try to remember this. World of Warcraft was $60 for vanilla and $15 a month. Even at a discounted rate of $10 a month, which never happened, that would mean it cost you $180 a year to play. If Destiny is competing in the same genre then in order to charge that amount ($60 for the game and then $20 every two months for a total of $180) then I am going to want to see new worlds, maps, PvP modes, subclasses, weapons and armor, MANY more missions, and the world around me evolve and grow as the story develops, etc etc because that is what other developers are providing for the same price. What matters is that most people feel that way, but executives will wait and see the numbers. It will sell and almost everyone will buy because they are addicted and enjoying it with friends, but gamers will continue to feel that those in power arent listening. What's more is that this forum will never reach the people that makes those decisions, only liason's like Deej and the developers. Sadly as a consumer you only have a single option to show how you feel, your wallet. Choose to buy it or not. I feel ripped off a bit, but I am going to buy it anyway. I am part of the problem. I should walk away. But I admit it. In the end I will cut back in other areas because I like my friends in this environment. but when they fade, I will also jump ship quickly, because this is far too expensive. /endrant

It shouldn't be supported and comparing this DLC to the churnouts like Cod or BF isn't relevant because it is obvious they just crank that crap out with minimal effort. There are great DLC's for the value some would include Red Dead's Undead redemption or even Star Craft 2's expansion for $20. Come on people don't just buy it to buy it, analyze the value and realize we already have strikes, arenas, and raids, we need actual BETTER NEW STUFF. Not just putting a new dress on the same old hag!

The only people that will possibly say it's a fair price will be americans. #exchangerates
