All my friends tell me that the crucible balances everyone out so it doesn't matter what rank you are. I find this hard to beleive as Im almost always at the bottom of the score chart (level 21) and all my friends (level 25-26) are always way ahead of me. All of them have better weapons and better armor yet I'm told that this doesn't matter in the crucible.
Does anyone know the real answer to this? I feel like a lot of people think they do.
Thanks in advance!

2 RepliesArmor and attack stats don't benefit you in the crucible, but any armor benefits like reload speed, for example, as well as discipline, strength, and intelegence, and weapon benefits like feeding frenzy, etc. will still take effect. Any upgrades to your subclass super, mobility ability(blink, glide, etc.), melee, and grenade still take effect as well. Hope this helps!

Nope. Not until Iron Banner goes live. Then, your gear matters.

I wish it did but sadly I'm to crap for this to be true

9 RepliesNo it's doesn't matter. I played crucible with my level 3 warlock the other day. Didn't even have my super yet and I was leading my team in score and kills

just different guns is all

Ranks SORT of matter in pvp. Not directly. Everyone does the same base damage and have the same armor rating (meaning you all have the same health to put it simply.) I say sort of because some better gear has some perks that do effect gameplay. But for the most part these effects are not all powerful and are situational on their own.

One thing that could be in their favor is in the skill tree they might have their armor skill all the way upgraded instead of on recovery and agility

When i first started I was convinced Pvp was imbalanced but it just honestly takes time to figure out what guns and classes work for you and it takes time to learn the maps and develop specific killing strategies

Health, armor, and gun dmg (by weapon type) are all normalized. So a lvl 1 is the same as a lvl 27. What isn't equal are the skills for both your guardian and weapons. It's not much different than most games where you unlock things based on progression. You are just as strong, you just don't have as many options.

Edited by Ash: 9/19/2014 1:49:10 PMThey have more skills and weapon/armor perks unlocked which could help but to an extent other than that everything else is balanced just practice and do your best

1 ReplyYes and no. Obviously if you are a higher level and have a lot of upgrades to your gun, armor, and subclass you will more than likely do bette just because of your perks. But level itself has no direct influence. Think about it this way. Everybody is level 10 but the only way for a person to do better is if they have more perks

If they have legendaries or exotics, the only advantage they have are the upgrades they can have for a weapon. I.e. Red Death with its health after kill perk. Or their subclass abilities being more completed than lower leveled players. Things like damage and health/armor are balanced.
