I loved halo because everyone wanted to win and there wasn't a k/d ratio readily available.
Now that games like CoD BF4 and pretty much every game out now have k/d available, it's ruined a lot of games and game modes. Infected on CoD is pretty useless (stat whoring and people backing out when infected) and objective games no one cares about winning. I hate it and unfortunately it's pushing me away from games.

Yeah, agree totally. All these *High KD Players* are campers sitting in corners with a points per minute of 10.

2 RepliesEdited by RomanGladiator7: 8/11/2014 9:09:37 PMThe people who care about k/d or think it matters probably work a shit minimum wage job, or are young children with nothing better to care about. They think it matters because they feel unimportant in life, and doing well at a video game makes them feel superior to others. Which is why we should play for fun. At the end of the day we're all going to die. During your funeral do you really think they're going to recite your k/d? He was so good at pwning scrubs and no scoping, but it was the eventual overdose of mountain dew that finally took him. RIP...

I think it dumb too

Blame CoD for starting it.

2 RepliesEdited by Simseo: 8/11/2014 4:31:11 PMSpoken like a true scrub, let me guess, your k/d < 1, typical.

1 ReplyK/D has always been in Halo...
-
2 RepliesK/d has been in everyone's mind since the very first FPS games. There would always be a kills/deaths. And you knew those guys with the really high kills and low deaths EVERY game were legit. Did you ever play doom or unreal tourney? There was k/d even back then.

1 ReplySo does this make you mad? https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=lEIHBh2WOzM

1 ReplyK/D is only relevant in TDM, and FFA games. With any objective based games, it's all about the Score and W/L
-
1 ReplyParty chat has ruined FPS multiplayer. Now you need to go in with a pre organized team to properly communicate.
-
2 RepliesYour name is retarded. You're pushing yourself away from games because no one wants to play with someone who has swag or yolo in their name which I'm assuming you do.

1 ReplyEhh, I'm of two minds over this. I somewhat agree, teamplay does seem to be pretty low on the typical agenda but honestly it doesn't feel all that different. I would rather have a competent stat whore than a noble idiot on my team. Sure he might be trying to take the objective, but if he is dying 30 odd times in the process... Ya know what, that's not helping. I can't speak for how much people PTFO in CoD, but it's basically full of casual players and children. Battlefield is a bit more split, you do tend to find people who play the objective but only in certain modes, like Rush. Rush is great because you play two rounds, one where you have to PTFO to win and one where you can stat whore to your heart's content. The more K/d Padding you do, the faster your team wins. If you go on conquest though, good god it is full of retards. I have lost count of the number of times where I am the only, and I mean only, person holding up an entire flank. It makes for some exciting and dramatic gameplay but god damn it's -blam!-ing annoying when you die and your team loses. With a team of 32 people, surely more than one can hold the outside flank? *sigh* I'm talking about Lockers here, and metro at an extent. People get so hell bent on leaping into the meatgrinder and getting a few grenade kills that they are blinkered and able to lose the entire match over it. God I hate randoms.

probs.

4 RepliesDon't think it's going to make any difference if it's a full breakdown of stats or its simplified as a k/d ratio. If someone checks the stats screen mid-match and is that embarrassed by their performance, they will quit... regardless of how the information is displayed. Or take it on the chin and try to learn from their mistakes. I'm sure (hope) there will be penalties for repeat quitters.

It ruins a LOT of games. Especially tactical gameplay. Little kids prioritise 2:1 more than W:L.
-
Or maybe the fps ruined the k/d ratio.
-
Ppl were still critisized on kdr in halo 2 and 3 it was just said different. Now we have the % right in our face so u can get roasted faster before u had to look at stats and be like daaaammmnnnn bro u only got 3 kills and 10 deaths
-
You are so right, everyone else who disagrees is wrong. K/D ruins fun in FPS's because you are always/most of the time worried about it.
-
It truly has no real meaning if it did, matchmaking in the games wouldn't pair the people with high K/Ds on 1 team if they're not a clan
-
10 RepliesSo what you're saying is; "My K/D sucks, so I'll make a post against it".
-
5 RepliesLike it or not, your k/d ratio is going to play a central role in destiny pvp. The "domination/conquest" game type they had in beta seemed to largely revolve around kills with the capture points as bonuses. This makes more sense to me if you look at each life as a resource. The more quickly you deplete your enemies resource and the more steadily you preserve your own, the more easily you will win any game type. In any game, once i figure all the mp maps out, I have always payed close attention to my k/d. Like it or not, it is the best indicator of your effectiveness in combat (or at least I see it that way.) *Unless of course you're talking about one of those jack@sses who plays an objective based game type by camping with a sniper rifle. Those dipsh!ts will go all match with out getting a single capture or helping their team in any way. And they're too scared to play TDM cause they know they'll get pooped on if they dont have a honey hole to shoot into from relative safety. Now that I would understand. But to universaly bash k/d as a stat? Thats a bit extreme brah.
-
That's just because you suck and your KD sucks scrub.
-
2 RepliesOP confirmed to have a negative k/d.

1 ReplyEdited by CAR105 3: 8/11/2014 3:20:27 AMWin/Loss ratio is more important, yet harder to stat pad and many gamers ignore it.
-
1 ReplyFor pure objective gametypes, I'll have to agree with you. I can understand why K/D is useful in Slayer-style gametypes on a game-per-game basis, but a global K/D stat encourages stat-padding rather than teamwork and playing to win.
